Drake’s POV
“Okay. I will try,” Simon said. I wheezed. “But why do you want to break into the vehicle?”
I glided my hair back. “I will have Rudolph drive me home,” I said. “I will have to sneak inside the fortress through the car. I think that’s the only way available if I have to save the Alpha.”
Thelma gasped. “What? Are you insane Alpha? That could be you walking right into a death trap?” Thelma busted out.
“I don’t think so. Whose trap exactly? There is no way Rudolph will be expecting to see me. Unless someone tells him that I am coming.”
“No, Drake, no.” Thelma looked at Simon. “Ain’t you going to say something?”
“I thought you said that you are aware of his plan?” Simon said.
“That was not the original plan. I thought we were going to break into my father’s house with some kind of ‘capable hands'” Thelma said eyeing me. She continued, “as the Alpha said he would bring along earlier. Never knew he was planning to break inside the car, hide inside it and let Rudolph drive him home to his death.” Thought I mentioned I just had a change of plan earlier?
“I warned you,” Simon said. “The Alpha is insane.”
I wanted to laugh. She turned to me. “Please, Alpha. We will find a better way to break inside. Remember I know my way around there more than anyone else. I will help you.”
I shook my head. Yeah, she would have been the best person to take me around the fortress if I had wanted to go there as a tourist and not as an intruder. It would be super dangerous to bring anyone but myself along. Not even Simon. I didn’t want to put anyone in danger- yet. I wasn’t sure how dangerous it could get. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to succeed in the first place. So why would I take that risk? It was too great a risk to take. “I wish you could Thelma, but something tells me that this is going to be a little frozen than I initially think it will be.”
“Frozen, yet you want to go in there alone,” she said. “Huh? Won’t it be too cold?”
“There is no time for all these arguments,” I said. “Sim, get the boot open before Rudolph comes out.”
Simon asked for the truck’s key from me, I gave him. He went to the truck and opened the driver’s side. He opened the pigeon hole and grabbed some tools he found. Thelma and I had no choice but to watch the exit door. While watching, I hoped and prayed that Rudolph doesn’t walk upon us. I wasn’t ready to start biting my tongue in search of answers I would give to him and his crazy goony if we get caught. Simon went around the Ferrari, and hid at an angle that wouldn’t allow him to be easily seen. He went under the vehicle and began to do his work. Truth be told, I thought that Simon was going to go straight to the luggage compartment and break it or perhaps the side glass and work something out. I was starting to get weary when Thelma interfered.
“I am not comfortable with your plan. I thought we are supposed to be couples. Why can’t you relay your plans to me before you start executing them?”
“Why would you say that, Pretty?” I said. “I am not hiding anything from you. I have never done that and I have no plans to ever do that in the future.”
“I didn’t say you are.”
“Then what are you saying? Just tell me.” I waited for her to say something but she didn’t. “Don’t make this hard on me, Pretty. I am only trying to protect you. I don’t want anyone to get hurt. Can’t you see that?”
She didn’t still mutter a word. She bowed her head and began to sob. “I don’t want to miss you, Alpha. I don’t want to lose anyone else. I am sorry for being too bossy.”
I leaned closer to her and hugged her. I lowered my head, kept my jaw on her hair, and let it rest there. “I know, I know. If you didn’t care you wouldn’t be so worried. Rest assured, I will be fine. You just need to believe.”
“It’s not that simple, Alpha. You know it’s not.”
“I know,” I said. I kissed her hair again. “I will be fine. Believe me.”
“I am sorry but I am the selfish one here. If I wasn’t so worried about my father, I wouldn’t have forced you into a situation like this. I am so, so sorry.”
“I have the situation under control. You’ve got nothing to worry about. And you need to stop blaming yourself.”
“Tsk,” I heard Simon whistle. I looked at him, he was already standing, watching the both of us.
“Stay here, I am coming.” I left Thelma and walked over to Simon. “Successful?”
“I deactivated the alarms first,” he said. He opened the luggage compartment. “You are free to go but the problem is, the space is too small for your size. You may not fit in well here.”
“It’s not comfort I fucking seek for. I just need to get in there and get the hell out. End of story.”
“What then will be my job?” Simon said.
I spent a few seconds thinking of what Simon could do to help. “I think you and Thelma should hang around the fortress. I mean not too close but not too far. I wouldn’t want to spend decades searching for both of you if I make it out there alive.”
Simon nodded. “How do you plan to escape?”
I sighed. It wasn’t a simple question. “I will use one of the Alpha’s tinted vehicles as my escape route.”
“Sounds easy. But that would be possible if you are not caught right before you get to that point?”
“For both our sakes, I hope I wouldn’t get caught,” I said.
“For both our sakes Alpha,” Simon said, thickening his voice. “I hope and think you shouldn’t go. Not too late to decide again.”
