I moved back to where Thelma was sitting alongside Simon, watching. “Care to dance?” I requested.
“Not until I am told what you discussed with him,” she replied, sounding unimpressed.
“I don’t think I will do that if you are sitting down,” I said. I made my voice sound polite as possible. “C’mon take my hand.”
Simon looked at me and then at Thelma. She looked back at him. He gave her an approving gentle nod. I knew she respected Simon a lot but I didn’t know she would respect him enough to agree to come out to dance. She grabbed my hand and followed me to the dance floor. I put my right hand behind her curvy waist and then crossed fingers with her left hand. We danced to the gentle music. To be honest, I wasn’t good at dancing. It wasn’t part of my thing. But the guests weren’t particularly paying attention to us. Everybody was busy with their partners so I think we had our chance to do whatever it is that I wanted to do.
While dancing, Thelma made one wrong move and stepped hard on my left foot. “Ouch,” I complained. “That was painful.”
She laughed. “I am not good at this.”
“I thought you were.”
“Nah, Nah,” she said. “You are allowing me to lead the dance when you brought me out to dance.”
Shame on me. I thought of an excuse to give her. “Ladies had always been first, or was it not what the saying says?”
“You are a mouse,” she said. I laughed. “You brought me out to dance and not the other way round.”
“It doesn’t matter who brought who, you pretty rat. Just give it your best shot.”
“What did you just call me?”
“You called me mouse first of all.”
“Fuck you,” she said. She raised her right leg to march me again on my right foot but I saw it coming so I shifted my leg just about in time.
“You missed,” I said, giggling and wagging my tongue at her. She looked around to see who was watching.
“Remember we are in the public, Alpha. I think you should behave yourself.”
“You too,” I said. I pushed her out and then drew her back into my arms, her back against me. The move surprised me, it almost seemed professional.
“So what did you talk about with him?” she said.
I brushed her through with the conversation I had with Rudolph, all of them. “So you want us to visit my father?” she asked and stopped in her tracks.
I stopped too. “Yes, we will have to make some investigation. I think something doesn’t feel right about your father’s absence from the convention. It’s not as though the meeting came on short notice. Besides, Rudolph is kind of acting hinky.” A couple dancing beside us waved at us. We have back and started dancing again.
“Hinky?”
“Suspicious.”
“It is going to be risky. Our house is always fully guarded.”
“it’s a risk worth taking, I guess.” I groped her ass and drew her closer, cleavage spawning close to my jaw. I looked at it and swallowed. I wished we were home.
“Focus, Alpha,” she teased. Here is not the time nor the place,” she reminded me.
“Yeah, right. Not the time nor the place.” I agreed. But I wished it was.
“So when are you planning to execute the plan,” she asked.
“Anytime from now till tomorrow,” I said, spinning her around. “I will need more capable hands.”
“Capable hands?”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah, I will go with you.”
I stopped moving. “I said I will need more capable hands.”
“Of course, I heard you,” she said.
“Good,” I said. “Therefore you are not coming.”
She regarded me angrily and then marched me on my foot, hard. “Arhhh,” I growled. “What’s wrong with you?”
“You deserve more than that,” she told me. “Do you mean I am not capable or what? I am coming whether you like it or not. I know the terrain more than those ‘capable hands’ you will bring for the job. I am out of here.” She left and went back to her chair. I understood her point. And for the reason she gave, she was correct. No matter whoever I would bring for the job, nobody would ever be familiar with the geography of the fortress like she would. She will be the key to breaking into that fortress if I ever want the mission to be successful. This was a place she was raised since she was a kid. So I think I need to cut her some slack.
“Alpha Drake.” A deep, rich Italian voice said. I almost got startled.
I turned, “Alpha Levi, long time, no chat.” I smiled. Levi is a broad-looking man, maybe a few years on top of my age. He had a physique of an individual who could raze a standing brick wall down with one arm. He had hair the colour blue when surveyed under the auditorium lights flickering around like we were in a party hall. “How long has it been?”
“Can’t quite remember, man. Haven’t been seeing you around,” he said, smiling. He looked at the lady beside her, he had one arm around her neck. “Oh, lest I forget, this is my Felicity.” He smiled at her, showing her some part of his front teeth. He looked cute smiling like that I must say. “Felicity, meet Drake, the Alpha of the Blood moon pack.”
I think I had been so apprehensive about the whole situation at hand that I barely noticed Felicity’s presence. Felicity had a face I had never seen anywhere before. Her long blonde hair stopped at the back of her waist. She was a beauty beyond the mortal realm, a moderate set of breasts, a slender body that melted in Levi’s mighty arms. “Nice to finally meet you,” Felicity moaned, her tone of voice suggesting something sultry to my earbuds. She stretched out her hand to shake me. “Alpha Drake,” she added and inclined her head in a small bow. If I heard her correctly, it was a good thing she met me but why? I think it would mean that she had been hearing about me from somewhere. But then it kind of sparked a curious question within me: why would I be a subject of discussion to someone whom I had never even seen before? It was not as if I had been seeing Levi every day or something like that. So how was it possible? Or could she be lying to make me feel good?
I shook her hand. Her palm was strong, felt stiff to my touch. She looked beautiful on the face but her hand doesn’t say the same thing. “It’s nice to meet you too. I wish I know who you are like you know who I am.” There was this primal, possessive hunger I felt I touched her. It was almost irresistible. It was so strong. I felt like drooling over her. I felt like kneeling before her, begging for her touch, begging for her kiss. It was as though she was inside, e telling me what to do. Yeah, it was that strong. My manhood rose to the summon, strong and uncontrollable. It occurred to me that I just had to do something really quick before things would go wrong. Something didn’t feel right and if nothing was done, the situation at hand could go scary. I could do something stupid. I put my free hand on top of my zip, I pressed my balls hard. It was painful but the plan materialized. I managed to demolish the sultry craving in me into small, molecular fractions. I took a seemingly awkward decision. I drew her hand closer and kissed her palm. I wouldn’t have done that if I didn’t have a plan. That was the only thing I could do to bring her close enough so I could smell her well. My plan worked and I confirmed my suspicions as well. She wasn’t a werewolf and she didn’t smell like a human either. So who was she?
I glanced up at her, my eyes speculating. We still held our hands gripped together. She smiled. “Of course, everyone knows who you are,” she said. I knew she lied. I didn’t say a word but then, Levi broke the five seconds silence. “Hey gent, I think we should get going now. Since I didn’t come early enough, I wouldn’t want my ass to be spanked by some friends here. There are still tons of them I need to greet.”
I grinned, flashing all my teeth. “No issue,” I said. “I hope our path crosses soon, Levi.”
“I hope so too,” he said, chuckling. He smiled languishingly away with his fake Luna or who the fuck she was. She turned and blinked an eye at me. I stood, watching Levi stylishly. As he said, he greeted a few comrades before he finally met with Rudolph. They began to talk to each other. I tried to eavesdrop but couldn’t. The noise was just too much for me to focus my abilities on what they were saying. Levi and Rudolph hit a rudiment and both of them spun around their heads together and looked at me. I didn’t know what they were talking about but I could swear on my father’s grave that I had something to do with it. They all stood up and changed their position. I withdrew and strutted back to where I had been sitting immediately.
“There is a change of plan,” I told Thelma.
She regarded me curiously. “I don’t get it,” she said.
“We will leave now.” I clutched my fingers, enough to get Simon distracted. “Sim, we need to go now.” No questions asked, he stood up instantly.
“Go where exactly?” she asked.
“No time to explain. Just follow me, Thelma.” She did. I didn’t want to spend any more time in the auditorium. I wasn’t comfortable seeing Levi and Rudolph talk discretely about me. I saw Hitman at the door. Without questions, he opened the door for us with a gentle smile and we walked outside to the car pack.
Thelma held my arm when I got outside and applied enough pressure on my bicep that I had to force myself not to fall. “What is it? You look troubled.”
“Yes, Alpha. She is correct. You look like shit,” Simon said. “What’s going on with you?” he asked.
I didn’t know my mood had changed enough for both of them to notice that I was worried. “We are going to break into someone’s apartment, Sim.”
Simon frowned his face and titled his head back. “Are you kidding me? Who the hell is that?”
“You might want to keep your voice down, Sim.” I looked around, all I saw were cars, no living soul moving around. “We are going to break into Alpha Richards’ mansion.”
“When you mean Alpha Richards, do you mean Thelma’s father? Octavian pack?”
“Yes.”
He scoffed. “Damn, do you have a death wish? That place is a fucking prison,” Simon said, voice still high I wish he could just keep his voice down.
“But not an impenetrable one,” Thelma said quietly.
“Wait! Don’t tell me you know of this insane plan?” he asked Thelma. She remained silent and kept her head down. “Alpha, what are you two up to?”
“I am sorry I didn’t put you through on time but I have reasons to believe that Alpha Richards is incarcerated somewhere out there, against his wish. I believe that he might still be in his fortress. If we can get him out, we might be able to expose Rudolph to his hidden agenda.”
“Wait. You are accusing Rudolph of holding the Alpha of their pack hostage in the Alpha’s own house?”
“I am not accusing him but I am suspecting him of doing something like that.”
“Suspecting him? Oh Alpha, what if, by the end of the day, you end up proving nothing?”
“Still not a problem. Only then will I be convinced,” I said.
“At what cost?” he said and breathed. “You will be making Rudolph your eternal enemy.”
“Leave it to me to worry about. For now, let’s focus on getting something achieved. Time is a factor we should all be worried about.”
“Oohh-kay.” He crossed his hands on his chest. “So what duwee do?”
“You are still good at hacking car doors right?”
“Old habit,” he said, smiling. He eyed me and frowned upon realizing something. “What for? Why did you ask?”
“Can you still do it or not?”
“I could try.”
“Good. Look at that Ferrari over there,” I said, pointing at it. “Can you do something about it?”
“Do you mean if I can break inside it without the alarm blaring the hell off on my head?”
“Something like that.”
“What? Of course, no. The answer is very simple. NO. Plain. No.”
“Why?” Thelma said calmly.
“Luna,” he said. “I don’t have the tools for this type of job here. Besides that car is not like all these old model vehicles you could easily vandalize without any consequences. That car has one of the best security systems you can find in any car model out there. I am definitely going to get caught. The black box may be active as well.”
“Then deactivate it,” Thelma said, seemingly unimpressed.
Simon breathed out. “It’s been a long time I did this, I am not sure if-”
“You are one of the best car breakers I have ever seen, Sim,” I said. “Please, I beg you. Do this one for me.”
