CHAPTER 138 – BRINGING THE WITCH

Book:Luna Between Alphas Published:2024-10-27

BETA TIM’S POV
I feel so elated going back to the battle with the witch, Mildrid.
What she asked of me is nothing compared to what she is about to do for me, for Diamond Cut.
Defeat the Pixies.
She rode on her horse and kept close to me.
She would bring down the arrogant queen of the Pixies in just one shot. A single shot and victory will be for Diamond Cut Pack. I giggled in a sinister manner.
She calls herself the Chamlar, now we will know who the true supreme king is here in this part of the globe.
This was only achieved by having a little fun with the despicable witch. I thought the act was going to be appalling, but ironically, she is the best in the job. I hope to patronize her in the future. Regularly.
“You have to lead me to her, Tim” Mildrid requested.
I grinned. The zeal with which she wanted to do the job gave me great satisfaction. Now it has even increased my desire for her.
“Of course my lady…” I replied.
“Just a touch of this, and she will be lifeless” she revealed.
I smiled. “We must be discreet, my lady, the battle is a fierce one. I wouldn’t want us drawing any sort of attention our way” I told her.
She chuckled. “Don’t worry, Tim, we would be irrelevant over there. I have seen to that. All you need do is lead me straight to her” she replied.
“I will do just that” I replied like an obedient child.
There are a lot of women on the battlefield and finding the queen was supposed to pose some problems. But no, she has a rare wolf, a white wolf. It is so huge that it could be noticed even from afar. And when she fights in her human form, she always has a black veil covering all parts of her body, from her head down to her ankles.
I tried all through the battle to get close to her but was unsuccessful. It was as if she was focused on areas far away from me and even when I drew close, she moved off again.
All I wanted was to take away the veil from her. Who knows, she might be some spirits. How else can we explain the great powers that have been exhibited by the Pixies, and how was she able to gather all these allies?
The pixies are not known for martial crafts, they are not soldiers, at least not fierce ones. But she emanated from nowhere and turned everything around and now the Pixies dare to look us in the face and dare to go into battle with us.
“I know everything about her, Tim, and this broom is the only thing that can bring her down. It will neutralize her powers and leave her dead in no time” Mildrid said as if reading my thought.
“I wonder where she emanated from,” I replied grudgingly.
She grinned and hit her horse to move faster. “Somewhere you are not unfamiliar with” she responded with a look of mischief.
“Me…” I exclaimed. “I don’t know much of the Pixies” I replied nervously.
I was correct. I know all the Pack and kingdoms far and wide but the only place that I have lived in is Diamond Cut. So how am I supposed to be familiar with anything concerning her?
“How do you mean, my lady?” I inquired.
“Some answers come by themselves later, beta Tim. But I must say that I admire your resilience. I used to be in awe of Diamond Cut, but that was during the time of the late alpha and the alphas before that. right now, alpha Fred doesn’t seem to appreciate all you do to ensure that the once-great Pack does not lose its valor.” She said.
I felt so good by her praises, my head literally swelled. I have always put in all I’ve got for my Pack, I put Diamond Cut first and this is the first time someone is openly appreciating my efforts and singing my praises.
I know I deserve it.
“It is nothing unusual, Mildrid, it is what I do for my Pack and I would even do more. I am their beta” I replied in humility.
I would not let pride get the better part of me, I am only doing my job and I should not demand any kind of payment.
“And that is something I do admire, Tim. You work wholeheartedly. I would like to work with you even after now” she said and stopped her horse from going any further.
I stopped my horse too and turned to her. “You do?” my eyes glowed at the thought of having someone like her by my side, forever.
“I demand that Alpha Fred give me a place in the Packhouse, there is so much that I would like to do for Diamond Cut Pack.” She replied firmly.
“In the Packhouse… but that is not my decision to make” I almost exclaimed.
How would I bring the witch to alpha Fred? He only allowed me to deal with her because I was eager to clean up my mess and not bring shame to the Pack. Alpha Fred would never want anything to do with her.
“You can get Fred to agree. You can get him to do anything. He gave you his soldiers for this war even when he was totally against it” she challenged in confidence.
“I can keep you in the mansion with me. It will be the same as the Packhouse. Since you are working with me, I think it will be best that you stay close to me” I offered.
I hope that she accepts this. Why would she want to stay with the alpha, what does she want from the Packhouse? She is starting to ask for what is beyond me.
“The packhouse I said. Do you have a problem with that?” she asked in a surge of building-up anger.
I opened my mouth to speak, but could not make out a single word. It is true what they say, give the devil an inch, and he will request a yard. Tell him that there is no seat, and he will reveal that he brought his own chair.
“Speak, Tim…” she requested, her eyes already bloodshot.
She suddenly became calm and said. “Your mansion is filled with a lot of sad tales, Tim, my powers would not function well there. I need a place that is different from the mansion”
“Sad tales…” I said with a dry voice.
“I need not remind you that you have a first daughter, beta Tim” she replied bluntly.
“Oh…” I murmured and cursed within me. I thought the shadow of that girl would never find me. Even now, she dares to stand in my way.
“You make this pact with me right here and now, or I turn back” she threatened, her voice firm and unshaken.
I was lost. How would I get the alpha to agree to this? What right do I have to make such a decision for him?
I know for sure that he would never want to set eyes on the witch, but then if we should win this war through the help of Mildrid, he would have no choice but to accept her and do whatever she wants. He would definitely be eternally grateful to her.
“You have to promise to heal my wounded soldiers. With that, alpha Fred can never say no to you” I tried to bargain with her.
“You are in no right to bargain with me, Tim. You either accept my request or not” she replied angrily.
“I am… so… so… sorry, my lady” I stuttered.
We are already close to the battle, what harm would it do if I gave her this one promise?
