LEON’S POV
The war is getting fiercer, stronger than any one of us had anticipated.
I struck my sword hard and it cut through the neck of the opponent and screaming in agony, he fell off to the ground, dead in one breath.
I growled, finally he is dead.
I have been engaged in the battle with him for a long time now, and he had proven to be a hard prey, a terrible nut to crack.
And then I gritted my teeth as I watched his lifeless body lying helplessly on the cold ground. I pulled my sword and struck at his stomach, ripping it open in the process.
“Ho… ho” I growled again in satisfaction.
I grinned in momentary happiness and turned away from him. The fight was getting darker, with each side unwilling to concede to the other. Loud screams echoed around, sounds of fear, of pain, agony, and momentary victory.
As I turned and took a look around the battlefield. I saw two of the enemies against one of our men, coaxing him to succumb to their pressure.
Seeing this, I immediately let out a loud scream and charged angrily towards them.
One of the enemies was in his human form pinning our man to the floor, while the other was in his wolf form and was tearing at the neck of my partner.
This has been their recent tactic, attacking us on our necks and drawing out blood from there. It was to drain us completely as they had come to realize that there was no way that we would remain alive without blood in us.
As soon as I got to them, I shifted into my wolf form and tore the man away with my pawns. This gave my partner the chance to struggle more strongly with the wolf.
With this development, the wolf noticed my presence and stopped the attack. It turned to me and growled. I responded with a growl and he immediately charged at me.
We fought so furiously, each wolf eager and desirous to outdo the other.
It pulled my head and began to punch on it. I tried to pull away, but it was stronger. I struggled and struggled but it was as if the more I tried, the stronger it became.
Caught between life and death, I utilized the last strength in me and somersaulted, pulling him with me in the process. He landed with a thud behind me but immediately got up and came for me before I had enough chance to gather myself and plan for my next attack.
He grabbed my neck, but I was quick to turn around, sending him to the ground again in the process.
By now, I was panting helplessly. I was drained of all the strength in me. The fight has been going on for a long, and for days now, I have not rested. A good number of us have not rested. The armies of Diamond Cut Pack were like grains of sand and the more we bring them down, the more they surfaced.
It came back for me again with a wild growl, but this time with a greater force. I drew back almost immediately and tried to create some delay. I needed time to be able to recuperate for even a few seconds.
By this time, my partner that I had saved had runoff. In his present state, he was required to return to our camp so that he would be properly treated and taken care of. Now it was left with just me and this savage who drinks blood as if it were mere water.
Seeing that I was trying to retrogress, the wolf forcefully jumped on me, bringing me to the ground. With a loud growl and determination, I pushed him away from me. But as I was about to get up, he pounced on me again and this time, made directly for my neck.
I struggled and struggled but it was as if the more I tried, the stronger he got and the weaker I became.
I felt a pain in my neck. His teeth were glued to it, trying so hard to leave a mark and draw out an endless flow of blood. All I could do was toss and turn in a bid to distract him.
It would not be easy for the wolf to take me down by himself. I don’t intend to make it so. He would require the help of another if he wanted that to be possible.
I punched at its belle severely, but that did not deter it as it continued to aim for a soft spot in my neck.
I was getting weak, everywhere was beginning to look blurry to me and I was beginning to feel numb. Even in this state, I was proud of myself. I believe that I have put up a good fight and fought for what I believe in, my honour.
Just then as I was trying to think about what my life has been these past years, a wolf approached us and came to my side. I knew this was it. I have accepted my fate and would lay down my life again for the life of the queen.
“Grrrrr…” I heard the wolf on top of me growl in what seemed to be like one in pain.
In shock, I opened my eyes and noticed that the wolf was lying far away from me and was struggling to get up. In front of me stood another wolf, staring at me.
*Go away from here, and on your way to our camp, you will meet Kendra* the new wolf who had saved me said through the mind link.
He was one of us.
*What* I grumbled.
*Go now, man, before she leaves* he barked.
I gathered all the strength that was within me to get my wolf off the ground but as soon as I was up, the enemy wolf reached for me and pushed me fiercely. I staggered and when I regained my balance, I made to go for him but my partner pushed me off with the side of its body and then went ahead to pounce on the wolf.
He devoured the wolf in a split second and as soon as it bites on the wolf, he fell down with a heavy thud, lifeless.
What just happened? It was all like magic to me.
I could have sworn that even three of my soldiers could not take this wolf down without a great fight. How then did he get defeated with just one bite?
Perplexed by what my eyes had noticed. I ran out of the battleground. I was going to meet Kendra and find out what she’s got for me. I also need some explanations on what I have just noticed.
