BETA TIM’S POV
“Of course, my alpha, there is no way that I could have the time to throw jokes in a matter as crucial as this one. The queen of Pixolands sent the following words to us. First, she said that she is equal to none, that Pixolands does not fight alongside anyone, and finally that our offer is not alluring enough”
I gnarled and gritted my teeth as I spoke. I wanted to ensure that the alpha understood the magnitude of the rudeness from the queen of the Pixies.
I know who alpha Fred is, he might as well decide to let everything slide especially since it is a woman. But then she is in power and whatever her gender is goes to no issue, it should not be the basis of forming an informed decision. She should not be an exception.
The queen of the Pixolands had by her action and utterances insulted the alpha and the great people of Diamond Cut, and so must be adequately and extremely punished for it together with every single one of her people.
I stole a glance at the faces of everyone, I wanted to make sure that they were on the same page with me. They were all furious and even more agitated than I was even though it was not visible on their faces. It was clear that they were waiting for the verdict of the alpha.
However, looking at the face of the alpha, I could not confidently say what he intend or the thought that inhabited his mind. Although from his look, it appears as if he thinks that the issue has over flogged and was long due to being relinquished into the background. But then, I will have to wait for the words that leave his lips. Until then, I cannot confidently say what his thoughts were.
“She chose war instead” I revealed in the hope that this would kill any reluctance on the part of the alpha. I wanted any lingering doubt or hesitation to be completely wiped off. He must see her for who she truly is, and not just as some random woman occupying some throne. Anyone that can dare to question the command of our alpha, deserves no mercy.
“That bitch” Hedrick cursed under his breath, finally aligning himself with me fully.
I smiled. My spirit was again lifted.
That is how it should be, no one, be it man or woman should be left alone after daring to spit on the face of our great and famous Pack and go against the dictates of our alpha.
“Let them be, who says we need the Pixies anyway?” the alpha said with a wave of his hands.
The alpha’s words caught me off guard, it spiked a terrible reaction within me. It was as if an enemy has just pierced right through my heart with a sharp and poisonous sword. It felt so real that I let out a fearful gasp and looked down at my heart for a trace of any blood pouring out from my wounded heart.
When did it come to this? When did our alpha become so weak? Or is it that he has gone negatively feral that he could no longer take the right decision even in cases as glaring as the one before us? Or is it as a result of not having a mate yet? But then, that was supposed to make himself ruthless and venom to his enemies even presumed ones. It was never supposed to make him weak.
Or maybe it was because it is a woman. No, he cannot be considering having anything with such a venomous queen. She will tear this Pack apart if she is allowed any form of control over it.
Okay, if that is the case, then I must have to bring up the issue with my precious daughter, Dawn once again. He needs to come and take her already and make her his immediately in order to maintain his sanity because it is clear that he was gradually losing it.
No way, there is no way he would be thinking of the queen of the Pixies in such light. I am only just overthinking myself. Moreover, he has not even met her yet, and I will see to it that he never gets to meet with her. All the tales around that lady are filled with magic, black and unexplainable magic. Her source is unknown.
“You say what?” I finally found my tongue after what seemed to be like an escape from an attempted attack of a partial stroke.
“Yes, Tim, you will send the word out to the other Packs, they should get themselves prepared, Dark Age has finally exceeded its limit and we would have to attack them first without even as much as a warning sign” he ordered.
“Yes, my alpha, I…” I replied and hesitated from speaking any further.
“I can hear you, Tim” he urged me to go on.
“My alpha, that was why we went to the Pixies in the first place. The other Packs are busy taking care of the casualties that were tactically left behind by Dark Age through their unexpected raids. Most of our armies have been sent to the other Packs. Dark Age is slowly but steadily getting in on us” I explained.
I hope now he will understand just how critical our situation is and how insultive it was for the queen of Pixolands to turn their back on us even when we are the ones that ran to them.
He sighed and took a deep and long breath. “And why have the Pixies refused our extended hands of friendship, or are they allies with Dark Age already?” he asked.
“No, alpha. The Pixies are not allied with any Pack or Land just yet” Luggard replied.
Alpha Fred turned to me and said. “You and Luggard, take two others with you. You will go to the queen of the Pixies and find out what exactly she wants”
“Going there again would damage us completely. It will ruin our reputation, alpha. We would look downtrodden to our enemies even before we are formally defeated” I replied.
“And what would you suggest?” he asked.
Now, this is the moment I have been waiting for, it is time to prove to the whole world where the real power lies. The queen of Pixolands drew her sword first, and it is time we pulled out our arrows.
I confidently adjusted myself a little before replying. “They want war, and that is exactly what we would take to them”
I could have sworn that I saw a smirk on the face of the alpha but the next minutes, it was not there. Does he find us unfit to take on the Pixies?
The alpha did not reply to me or try to say any other word. He only glanced above our shoulders with nothing to show what he had in mind. He is good at concealing his thought even from the most terrific mind reader. I can vow that he would outsmart the rogues at such, anytime, any day.
“They looked us in the face and dare us to come against them. We would be seen as cowards if we should chicken out” I said when it appeared as if we would all wait for an eternity to hear him speak.
“Have you considered her prowess and the state of our armies at this point in time?” he asked suddenly.
“It is nothing, alpha. It is just the Pixies, a bunch of dwarf armies led by a weakling of a queen” I bragged. “There are mere speculations, theories that have not been verified. But either way, let agrees that she is all they say, who is she against Diamond Cut, what are her armies compared to us? And as for her presumed prowess, I will make arrangements to get our armies properly taken care of”
“And what if we win, what will happen?” he asked.
His question left me and the other flabbergasted. Are we going into the war to fail and return in jubilation? Now I know that the under rooted problem of our alpha is a mate. He is beginning to think in the opposite direction more frequently these days.
As if reading my thoughts, he continued. “Then our armies would return, yes with victory, but also with another number of wounded and unfit armies added to the ones we already have” he paused and requested that we remained calm seeing that we were all eager to say something. “And then the Dark Age will attack in their full force, and what would you predict as the result of such war when we have a bunch of wounded armies and a few strong ones still seeking for time to recuperate from the land of the dead to which they were just returning from?” he asked.
I opened my mouth to speak but closed it almost immediately. But there is no way that I am going to give up just now, I must have to look for an explanation that would be strong enough to convince the alpha if I am truly desirous of pulling through with this.
So I opened my mouth again, and gradually, and much to my delight, words began to form. “A victory in our fight with the Pixies would only send a warning sign to Dark Age, especially to the Packs that have clustered around it and have formed an alliance with it. They are all in awe of the new queen of Pixolands and would coil into their shells once we crush the Pixies” for once since this discussion, I was proud of myself.
“And if we fail…” he asked.
Before he could even finish his sentence, I was already answering him as if I was expecting it. “Give the order, alpha, and my sons here will bring down the pompous queen of Pixolands in no time and bring back the glory of our prestigious and fearsome Pack back to how it was during the days of your fathers, our great ancestors. She calls herself the Chamlar, the queen of alphas and it is high time that she be made to know that no one conferred on her such title” I screeched and gnash my teeth in fury.
I would feel the ooze of strength and support coming from my sons and sir Luggard, and for once I know that the alpha would have to support me.
The alpha nods his head continuously, and with a wave of his hand, he urged me to carry on with my plans, and then he walked out.
He may not be completely convinced about this, but by the time I am done, he will have no choice but to double his faith in me. Ours is a fearsome Pack and we should not be caught cowering even for a split second.
