ALPHA FRED’S POV
I have strayed far away from the hunting escapade that I was not sure where I was anymore. I knew that if I should keep to the east, I will find my way back to the others but I decided to explore that west of the forest a little more. Hopefully, before noon I will be back with the others. Moreover, who knows what game I might find in this part of the forest?
After running for some time, I felt the alluring cool breeze of the west and I decided to shift into my human form in order to enjoy this amazing gift of nature, at least for the time being. That would also enable me to carefully take in everything about this part of the forest.
“There must be a spring around,” I said to myself as soon as I shifted to my human form.
I inhaled and tried to find out where the spring is located. “This fresh breeze can only come from a spring. Maybe I should look around, I have long been craving for a cool bath since morning” I said to myself again.
I started my search for the spring, and it was as if the more I searched the deeper to the west I go. But I am not going to give up, I must make sure to get my dry body in the water before leaving this place.
Having resolved to locate the spring come what may, I immediately mind-linked alpha Ray and alpha Jake to tell them that I am alright and that they should not bother looking for me.
I think I have searched for what appeared like the whole day, allowing my nose to lead me on when I started to hear the most melodious voice in the history of mankind.
I left my quest for the spring and started to trace where the voice was coming from. After some time, the voice stopped but by then I was already at a cliff. I looked down the cliff, and there was a spring, the one I must have been looking for.
I looked around the spring and seated on a stone was a young girl, dressed in a piece of linen clothes, almost revealing her body.
I waited for a while, hoping she would start singing again. I am sure if she was the one with the melodious voice, but I felt she must be the one.
The song started again, this time, more sonorous than the first. It was like nothing that I have ever heard. Even the best of my artiste could not compete.
Slowly, I began to climb down the cliff carefully and discreetly. I would not want her to stop singing by the time she noticed my presence.
I was halfway gone when I placed my leg on a stone only to discover that it was slippery and could not hold my weight. I immediately pulled away from the stone and marched carefully on a little heap of sand hoping it was strong enough. I exhaled, I was almost about to fall, thank goodness that I was careful.
I released my other leg to find a place to place it, and with one leg on the sand, I discovered rather too later that the sand was not firm. My legs slipped from it and I tried to regain my balance by holding on to an overgrown branch but my weight was too strong and I pulled the branch along as I landed heavily on the ground with a startling pain.
I groaned and whined from the pain and when I opened my eyes, she was kneeling before me, her eyes, bright like the morning star.
For a moment, I forgot my pain and smiled at her, a smile which she gracefully returned.
The pain hit back in double folds now, and I winced. I tried to lift my leg but discovered that there were almost numb.
“Hold on, you are in great pain,” she said and placed her hand on me.
“I fell” I murmured.
“It is okay, let me help you with it. I don’t think it is too serious” she offered.
I groaned again, and she moved over to my leg.
“I think the pain is mainly on the right one. I can feel the pain from it” I whimpered.
“Okay,” she murmured.
She applied some pressure on the legs, ignoring my whining before she went ahead to stretch the right leg. “You can stand now” she directed.
I looked at her and was almost about to laugh before I realized that she was serious so reluctantly, I got up with her help.
Surprisingly, the pain was gone and it was almost as if the fall never happened. “Thank you” I murmured stunned.
“You will be completely fine in a couple of minutes,” she said with her head bowed.
She brought up her head and saw that my gaze was fixed on her and she drew backward.
“I am sorry, my lady, you can go on. I mean with your song” I begged.
“Alpha Fred you have to be careful of the cliffs around here,” she murmured shyly.
“You know me? Then there is no need to be afraid, I will not hurt you” I tried to pacify her.
My wolf, Hector, was acting strangely inside. It was screaming for me to grab the pretty stranger immediately, mark her and make her mine right away.
*Get her immediately, let’s make her our mate* Hector said in my head.
He was restless and pacing in my head nonstop.
*It is not done like that, Hector. She had been of great help to us and disrespecting her is out of it* I snapped at him.
*But that is what happens when one finds a mate, I like her already* he retorted.
*She is not our mate, Hector, we don’t even know who she is* I challenged.
*Just ask her everything, dickhead. Can’t you see what she did for us?* Hector ordered.
I tried all I could to keep him at bay. I must act rationally before her if I don’t want to scare her off especially not after what we just put her through.
“I need to leave now, alpha,” she said with a bow.
“Can I at least know your name?” I demanded.
“I… I… I…” she murmured.
“I want to make you my mate. I love your voice” I stuttered.
I can’t believe I am acting this way before her, I could barely think straight.
*I can help you with what to say, Fred* Hector volunteered recklessly. His pacing was almost making me dizzy and if he does not stop now, I might pass out.
*Damn it, what do you even know, Hector* I hissed.
*Just ask her that you want her to always sing loudly into your ear* Hector instructed and calmed down.
Without thinking, I said. “I want you to sing loudly into my ear, my lady”
She chuckled and kept her face down and that was when I realized just how stupid I was by adhering to Hector.
*Oh no… Okay, okay just…*
*Stop it, Hector, just stop it* I screamed at him and immediately pushed him to the back of my head. Now I will be able to think straight.
“Where are you from?” I asked looking around.
“What are you doing in this part of the forest, alpha?” she asked still moving her gaze away from me.
“I came hurting, with my friend, the other alphas. But I was trying to find the spring when I heard your voice and happily, your voice drew me to the two most important things. You and this spring” I replied.
“Alpha, I have to leave now, please” she replied shyly.
“But how can I make you mine forever?” I asked.
“I will be yours by the time we meet again,” she said.
“Promise?” I requested.
“It is a promise, alpha Fred” she replied and before I knew what was happening, she has ran off.
*And what was that, where are you to meet her again?* Hector screamed as soon as he made his way back to my mind.
“Oh shit, what just happened” I cursed.
I could not believe that I have let her off without even the tiniest detail about her. But no matter what, I will see her again, and then I will claim her.
“Oh damn it” I swore as I looked down and discovered that I was on only my tiny boxers. “This must have scared her away” I yelled.
SCARLET’S POV
As I ran, I hoped that he was not after me. Of course, if he was, he will definitely catch up with me.
I could not bring myself to look at him, at least now I am glad that he does not know who I am. If not, he would have quickly gone to inform his friend, alpha Jake, who is my husband that he had seen me.
After some time, I stopped and looked back to see if he was coming after me but he was nowhere in sight. I was grateful that he did not bother to trail me.
But what was that feeling that I was having when he was speaking to me? He was almost naked and I lost control of myself for a moment.
However, I knew he was having some batter with his wolf which made him say those words to me.
I sighed. I am lucky to have escaped from him and I must be careful from now on. I immediately turned into my wolf and zoomed off.
