SCARLET’S POV
I looked at her as she drank the water. I felt a little bit guilty for allowing Lara to lure me into not trusting her.
Okay, I am never going to trust her even if it is left just for me, but then why would I even think that she might try to get to me with water in my house? Who the hell poisons drinking water?
The fact that I have even haboured such an idea made me ashamed of myself. I have given every other person a chance but her. But no matter how hard I tried, it doesn’t feel right with her. But today is going to be different, I will take her as the others even if it is for just today.
“You mentioned that you are sick, my luna,” she said.
“Yes. But it is not too serious. I should be better by tomorrow” I replied.
I started with having a slight headache this morning which I have dismissed as being trivial. But gradually it metamorphosed into general body pain and then dizziness. I used to have this feeling regularly at the Mansion and it usually subsides after a long rest and so I am hoping this would go away too by tomorrow.
“Are you sure, have you seen the doctor?” she asked.
“No, Violet” I answered.
“And what are you still waiting for?” she asked. “You have to go see the doctor immediately. See let me take you to him right away” she offered.
“Thanks, Violet, but I don’t think I need to see the doctor just yet” I politely declined her offer.
“Do you have any idea of what it might be?” she inquired.
“Not at all, Violet. But I think it should be as a result of the stress. You see I have gone through a lot of stress lately as a result of the preparation for the upcoming celebration” I yawned.
I have really put myself under a lot of stress lately. But then what else could I do? This is going to be the first pack event that the alpha is hosting since he married me and I have to make it a memorable one for the members of the Pack.
“You have to take it easy on yourself, my luna. You’ve got so many hands to assist you around here” she said.
“Sure I do. Thanks, Violet” I replied.
I smiled at her. I never knew she could be this caring. I could see just how worried she is for me and now I am even more desirous of getting well soon just because of her.
She leaned towards me and took my face in her hands and then proceeded to study my face. “Are you expecting?” she asked.
“Huh?” I mumbled.
What is she talking about? What should I be expecting? Oh no, of course, I am not a kid but why would such an idea come into her head at this point in time?
I felt uneasy by her question and it affected my countenance.
“Oh no, my luna. You are not a little girl anymore. You are married now and children should naturally follow” she said calmly.
I was ashamed of myself. She had noticed my reaction, it was just like that of a girl that has just been caught with a man by her strict father.
But why would I have reacted in such a manner before her? maybe it was because I was not expecting such a question, not from her and not from any other person. Sincerely I have never considered such.
“No… not that. It is just that it is far from what you are thinking” I chuckled. “Of course, I am not pregnant”
“And have you told the alpha about your states of health, my luna?’ she asked.
“No, I have not. It actually started after I left him this morning” I replied.
“Okay. But I know you have taken some medication” she said.
“Yes, Lara made sure I took some” I replied.
“Then you will surely get better before tomorrow,” she said.
VIOLET’S POV
I don’t understand why my question has made her feel so uneasy. Or is it that she is not open to talking about the sexuality of Jake? But even I know more about his weird sexual preference than her.
Something is not right here, I can feel it but would have to be patient. Very soon I will find out what that is.
“Come on, let’s go over to the garden, I will require some fresh air,” she said.
We both stood up and left.
I walked behind her, taking my time to access her body. She is beautiful and I must give it up for her but then there must be something lacking, something I need to search hard enough to get.
All her body was covered from the shoulders downwards. The only part that is left visible is the neck, and my eyes were focused on it.
There was nothing wrong with her neck, but somehow, it appears odd to me. I felt it is lacking something. Is it a necklace? But of course, it would not be a necklace as I have seen her countless number of times without one.
What then was missing, why does it seem so odd to me?
“You get that mat and spread it over here, I would want to lie down” she instructed the maid that followed us to the garden.
The maid did as instructed and after that, Scarlet said to me. “Come lie down with me, Violet”
“Are you sure you will be comfortable here?” I asked.
“Yes, I will be. It is the perfect position for me” she replied.
“And me too, most times it is the perfect position for me in the garden,” I said.
I find that odd, why would a mat be a perfect position for a luna, and why does it look like something is not right about her neck?
Oh my god, the mate mark. There is none on her neck. Jake has not marked her yet and that could only mean one of two things. And it either e does not want to claim her, or he has not mated her.
This thought sent a wave of excitement all through my body system. Now I have to find out which of them is correct. And there is only one way to do that, talk, talk the right talk.
“I can’t wait my luna,” I said.
“For what, Violet?” she inquired.
“Just think about it, if it turns out that you are pregnant, then I will be a big aunt soon and I pray that it be a boy and a girl. I swear I will spoil them both, but I will make sure to spoil the girl even more” I replied in excitement.
“I am not pregnant, Violet, so we could just save the excitement for another time” she replied and giggled.
“But why would you say so. you cannot be so sure unless you are flowing right now, you could be pregnant. Moreover, you are yet to go see the doctor and run the necessary tests” I said. “Please, my luna, please don’t cut short my joy. And I know that the alpha would be overwhelmed by this news” I screamed.
“Stop it, Violet” she laughed. “See I say I am not pregnant and I am not wrong about it. Okay, I promise that once I find out that I am pregnant, you will be the next person that I will share the news to after the alpha” she said.
“I will hold you by your words, my luna” I giggled.
“And I cross my heart” she replied.
Now I am a bit relieved. The idea of pregnancy has been completely wiped out. But I am still curious to find out why reason why a proud and possessive alpha as alpha Jake would not have marked and claimed his precious little wife. Now the only way to find out is, talk.
“My luna” I called touching her neck.
“What is it, Violet?” she responded without looking at me.
“The mate mark, what is stopping the alpha from claiming you?” I asked.
“Oh, that. He said he is taking his time. He wants to get me fully acquainted in his world as he puts it” she laughed.
“Acquainted, but you guys have been married for over a year now, what is he waiting for? It is supposed to be there on the very first night” I murmured.
My heart began to beat as I waited for her reply. Everything is going my way and I hope that she tells me what I want to hear. I want her to admit that Jake had not made her his yet. News like that would only mean that he wants only me and he could not bring himself to have any other woman but me.
“Yes, we have. But you do not know my husband. He wants our very first full night to be a memory that would last forever. He does not want it to just happen like any other intimacy he had with other women” she replied.
Her response broke and gladdened my heart. However, I don’t care how she wants to put it. To me, Jake has not been fully intimate with her, and not placing his mark on her shows that she is not what he wants.
My conclusion is premised on the fact that the same Jake had once begged me with all that he had to allow him to place his mark on me and officially make me his mistress.
