SCARLET’S POV
I entered my room and met Lara inside together with Kendra and Mia. Lara and Kendra were going through the dresses in my wardrobe trying to pick a dress for my outing with the alpha tonight, while Mia was at my dresser trying to get my makeup tools ready.
“Welcome, luna” they all chorused.
I nodded and went for my towels.
“I think this would be perfect for tonight,” Lara said and brought a red velvet dress for me to have a look at.
At the first glance at the dress, I replied. “It is a sleeveless, Lara”
The dress is spectacular, but Lara knows better than getting me a dress that is sleeveless. She knows my take about wearing clothes that expose any part of my body.
Growing up, I never wore dresses that exposed my body because of the numerous scars that are on my body. The scars that I sustained from having to endure that torture at the mansion. The scars are not very visible but it would take a keen observer less than a second to notice them. So I try to cover them to avoid anyone raising an eyebrow and asking questions.
“It is lovely, luna” Lara replied.
I collected the dress from her and took a second look at it. Its fabric was gotten from the finest material and it felt so good against my skin. I loved the flowers that were imprinted on the dress with tiny red rubies. They were barely noticeable but I know that they would glow and sparkle brilliantly in the dark. Lara does have a great taste for fashion and she and Kendra pulls a mighty force as a team.
“It is beautiful, Lara. But…” she stopped me from going on.
“No but, luna, there is a lovely red veil to go with it. I personally asked for this dress to be made for you and I know you will love it. Now I am glad you will be wearing it tonight” she cuts in.
“Of course, I love it, Lara,” I replied.
Now that there is a veil to it, I can comfortably wear the dress. I handed it over to her and she placed it on the bed. I proceeded to take off my clothes and wrapped my towels around my chest.
“I am going to have my bath now,” I said.
The Announcement was for Kendra so she left what she was doing and followed me into the bathroom.
“What temperature do you need, luna?” Kendra asked.
“Cold, I need it to be cold” I replied.
She filled the bathtub with cold water and put in some liquid soap. “It is ready, luna” she announced.
“You can leave now” I ordered.
After she left, I took off my towels and stepped into the tub. It was just as cold as I needed it to be and I felt so relaxed inside of it.
It’s been raining consistently for days now making the weather to be very cold. But that does not stop me from longing for a cold bath. You see, back at the mansion, using hot water was a luxury that only the masters could afford so I had no choice but to get used to cold water even on days that were freezing.
It was still early and I have over an hour to get ready for tonight and so I took my time bathing. I rubbed my hands all through my body and I felt the scars littered everywhere. These scars are the sign of the battle that I had to fight, they tell the tales of my struggle and the victory after. But then, they are a part of me that I want to be hidden forever. They are the victory tale that I don’t want to brag with.
In reminiscence of all that I have been through, I started to hum a song. And slowly, my humming metamorphosed into a song and I sang quietly.
LARA’S POV
When I was picking the style for the dress, I knew she was going to object to it if it was handed over to her without a veil to go with it and that was why I ordered for a veil to accompany it. The gown would have to be worn only at nights and should she have to take off the veil for whatever reason, her skin would still not be too visible.
However, I was a bit skeptical thinking about whether she was going to accept the dress even with the veil attached to it. And when she had raised the objection, I almost thought that she was going to reject it and now I am happy that she decided to go with it.
I looked around the room, everything seems to be in place and now we await her return but before then, I have to ensure that nothing is out of place.
“How is it with the makeup, Mia?” I asked Mia.
“Good” she replied.
“And have you finally decided the colour you will use?” I asked.
“Yes, Lara. I will go for a light red lipstick. The eye shadow would be sea-green to go with her purse and shoes” she replied.
“Is that so, Kendra?” I asked.
She is having a night out with the alpha tonight, and we have to make her appear tremendous. She should be the only woman that the alpha should want to see, she should be the fairest in his eyes.
“Yes. Her jewelry for tonight will be sea-green. What do you think?” she asked.
“Amazing combo, girls, sea-green will be perfect for a red dress and would also be great for tonight” I replied.
I must confess that I love their sense of fashion. I love just how they combine colours to meet the necessary occasion. I don’t need a soothsayer to reveal to me that Scarlet is going to love this.
SCARLET’S POV
After what seemed like forever, I stopped singing and stepped out of the bathtub. I felt so refreshed. I grabbed my towel and gently cleaned my body with it. Then I went on to apply some lotion to my skin.
The lotion was given to me by Kendra she had seen my skin on the first day that she helped me change into my clothes and had said that she had something that would be right at fixing the scars. And when she handed the lotion to me, she had assured me that it will help in clearing the scars away in no distant time.
When I was done with applying the lotion, I wrapped my towels around my chest and walked out of the bathroom.
“Are we ready for the makeup, Mia?” I asked.
“Yes, luna” she replied.
I went to sit in front of the dresser, and she went to work immediately on my face.
“I am going out with my husband tonight. Please I need the makeup to be breath-taking” I requested.
“I promise you are going to love it, luna, and the alpha will not be able to take his eyes away from you all through the night” Mia replied.
When it comes to getting breathtaking makeovers, I give it up for Mia. I know what she can do. She knows just the right makeup for the perfect occasion and I know tonight would be great.
“Lara, get all my stuff ready, I would not want to keep the alpha waiting” I ordered.
“Yes, luna” she replied.
