The young man’s grin widened, making Kira a bit surprised because how does his grin keep getting wider?
“My name is Dave,” he answered.
Kira gave him a polite but dismissive smile. “Thank you, Dave. But I am sorry, I don’t have any work for you right now.” She inclined her head slightly. “Goodbye.”
Without waiting for his reaction, she stepped aside and walked away. “He is so weird,” Kira thought while she walked away.
The happy smile on Dave’s face slowly crumbled. He now had a tight frown on his face, his jaw clenching, and his breath growing heavy.
“Did I do anything wrong?” He asked himself.
“I was being very nice to her. Does she not like nice?” He asked himself again as his hands curled into fists, nails digging into his palms. “How could she reject me? How could she reject my offer?”
As he kept talking to himself, his rage grew. “I only want to care for her. She needs me just as much as I need her.”
Immediately, he turned and followed her, making sure to catch up with her. Before Kira could take more than a few steps, he caught her by her wrist and stopped her. Her heart skipped a beat as she spun around, shocked to see his face.
Dave’s face was twisted in anger, no smile this time. “But I want to be there for you.” He said to her softly, his voice low and threatening. Kira could not sense anything good about what he said.
She tried to free herself calmly, but his grip tightened, firm and possessive, refusing to let her go, “I can be yours,” Dave said. “You can do whatever you want with me, my body and soul is yours. Why don’t you want me?”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Kira asked him angrily as she was about to react and use him to test her fighting skills.
But before she could, Ryker had come out from nowhere and grabbed Dave’s wrist tightly. He growled and yanked it away from Kira’s hand.
“How dare you!” He barked out at Dave, twisting his arm behind his back, forcing him to bend.
“Big mistake,” Ryker muttered under his breath as he drove a hard knee into the back of Dave’s leg, forcing him into a kneeling position in front of Kira.
Dave grunted painfully as his knees buckled and he fell.
“Are you okay?” Ryker asked, glancing at Kira, his voice softening slightly. While he checked up on Kira, his grip tightened on Dave’s arm, twisting it just enough to make him wince but not enough to break it.
Kira nodded, her heart still pounding in her chest as she stared down at Dave. “I’m okay, I’m okay.”
Kira and Ryker were not given any time to react as Dave’s face changed, and tears began to flow. He gasped for breath between sobs, his voice cracking. “I-I don’t know what happened! Please, I would never do anything to hurt you, I didn’t mean to- please, forgive me!” He cried out, his body trembling. “Please, Luna. I-I wanted to work for you, I don’t mean no harm, please,” he begged and cried harder.
Kira watched him confused, her lips parting slightly. She looked at Ryker who also looked at her, confusion written all over Ryker’s face, but he still did not loosen his grip, instead he increased it, twisting Dave’s arm some more and said, “We are not going to fall for your stupid trick.”
“Please!” Dave shouted, letting out a sharp cry. He sounded so pitiful while he cried and begged, “It hurts! I swear on my life, I swear on the Moon Goddess, I won’t do it again! I’m sorry.”
His tears soaked his cheeks, his face red from the strain of crying. The way he was crying drew attention from some pack members nearby. Everyone was now wondering what was going on.
“Alright,” Kira sighed, rubbing her temple in frustration. “Lift him up.”
Ryker did as he was told and hauled Dave to his feet, his hand still holding Dave in place, In case he wanted to try anything stupid. Dave stumbled, still sobbing and looking down at his feet. “I’m sorry… I really did not mean any harm,” he sobbed, wiping his face on his sleeve.
“Now you listen very carefully,” Ryker leaned close, his voice sharp and cold. “If you ever go near her again or try something like this…” He said, as he twisted Dave’s arm harder, making the boy wince again. “If you as much as breathe the same air as her… I will break your arms and all the other bones in your body. Have I made myself clear?”
“Yes, Beta.” Dave nodded quickly. “I-I promise! I-I w-won’t! I swear, never.”
“Good, now run along.” Ryker whispered and then, with a rough shove, let him go.
Dave stumbled, almost falling. Without wasting a second, he turned and ran away.
“Are you sure you are okay?” Ryker turned his attention back to Kira, his voice filled with concern. “What was that about? What happened?”
“I don’t even know,” Kira pondered, folding her arms. She was still trying to make sense of it herself, then she told Ryker everything that had happened, including the part where Dave wrapped his hand around her waist the other night.
Ryker’s jaw clenched as he listened to everything Kira was telling him. “What is his name?” He asked when she was done talking.
“Dave,” Kira replied.
“I will look into him, see what’s going on.” Ryker informed her with a curt nod.
“Thank you, I would appreciate that,” Kira said, gratefully. She, herself, wanted Ryker to look into it. “Please, keep me updated on anything you find on him.”
“Anytime,” Ryker said. “And of course, I will get back to you as soon as I find something.”
Afterward, she and Ryker went their separate ways. Getting back to the house, Kira greeted Elara and Orion who were in the sitting room, and told them she would be down for breakfast soon, as she needed to shower.
Now, in her room, getting ready to shower, her phone rang.
