Kira ended up settling for a light, olive-green dress with nice tie-up shoulder straps and a soft flowy skirt. Her dress was textured with tiny dots, adding to its beauty and paired with white sneakers, letting her hair flow freely.
Kira came downstairs, glancing around the living room, but could not find Bryan.
“Bryan?” She called out softly, her brow furrowed, confused. “Bryan? Where are you?”
A moment later, Bryan came out from the kitchen, a smile on his face as he saw her looking so beautiful, waiting for him.
“Beautiful as always,” he complimented, giving her a kiss on her cheek as he held a large black bag over his shoulder.
“Thank you,” Kira blushed, her heart skipping a beat. “You look handsome as always, too, very hot.”
“Thank you my love,” Bryan said, giving her another kiss on her cheek. “Now, please turn around and close your eyes,” he instructed.
“Okayy?” Kira chuckled and complied, her heart fluttering with excitement as she heard him search through the bag. Then she felt him gently tie something soft over her eyes.
“This okay?” He asked as his fingers brushed her skin, not wanting to cause her any discomfort.
“Yes, it’s okay.”
“Alright, now trust me,” Bryan said softly, his warm hand slipping into hers.
“I trust you.” Kira muttered while caressing his hand. Those words made his heart flutter too.
She had no idea how much those words meant to him. “Watch your steps.” He told her as they started walking.
Kira giggled nervously, the pressure on his hand increasing as her fingers squeezed his. “Where are you taking me?” She asked while giggling.
“You’ll see,” Bryan replied with a grin she could not see, but his voice dripped with excitement. He could only hope she would love his surprise.
He gently pulled her forward, guiding her with small steps. “Careful, there is a little dip here.” He explained, as they had now left the house.
Kira laughed, feeling her way with her toes. “If I fall, I’m blaming you.”
“You won’t fall,” Bryan joined her in laughing. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you,” he reassured her.
As they walked to wherever, Kira could not help but feel butterflies in her stomach. She tried to control her excitement but failed miserably and kept on giggling anytime she almost fell or tripped over something. Although Bryan was always there to catch and guide her, also laughing.
“Are we close?” Kira asked breathlessly.
“Almost,” Bryan teased, his hand tightening slightly around hers as he brought it to his lips and pecked it. “Just a few more steps. You are going to love this. I hope.”
When they finally stopped, he let go of her hand. “Stay right here, don’t move,” he whispered.
“Okay.” Kira nodded and bit her lips, standing still as more excitement bubbled in her chest. She could hear him move around and wondered what he was up to.
“Are you done yet?” She asked impatiently, a smile tugging at her lips.
“Almost,” Bryan chuckled from somewhere in front of her, “Just, hang on.”
After what felt like forever, she felt Bryan so close to her.
His hands gently untied the blindfold. “Alright, you can open your eyes now,” he whispered close to her ear.
Kira slowly opened her eyes and gasped. In front of her was the most beautiful riverside view. How come she never knew of this place? Wow. It was illuminated by the soft glow of lanterns and the twinkle of fireflies.
And there was a cozy blanket spread out on the grass, adorned with pillows, candles, and a basket of food, fruits, and many more. Definitely Bryan’s hand work.
“Bryan… ” She breathed, completely taken by the beauty of the scene. “This is… I don’t even have words to describe it. It’s amazing.”
Bryan stood behind her, his arms wrapping around her waist. “I told you it would be special,” he murmured, his lips brushing the top of her head. “Do you like it?”
Kira turned in his arms, looking up at him with a smile. Her eyes said everything. “I love it,” she said and gave him a quick deep kiss.
“I really love it.” She said after breaking the kiss.
“I’m delighted to hear that,” Bryan grinned and leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Now, let’s eat before the fireflies get all the food.”
Kira laughed softly, “Could they really eat our food?” A smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.
“Well…” Bryan chuckled and shook his head. “They never told me their diet plans, although it would be best, we do not take any chances.”
She laughed again, the sweet, soft sound echoing in the night air. “Alright, alright. Let’s sit down before they change their minds.”
Bryan took her hand and led her over to the blanket as they sat down, settling down. Kira started bringing out the food, fruits and arranging them.
The basket was filled with sandwiches, a bottle of wine, alongside a bowl of fresh berries and a small assortment of cheeses. Let’s not forget fried chicken.
“Ouuu,” Kira took a deep breath. “I’m already salivating,” she told Bryan while giggling.
“Me too,” Bryan replied and laughed while watching and enjoying how excited she was.
They finally helped themselves to the food, fruits, and wine after arranging it.
As they ate, Kira took a bite of her chicken and sighed. “This is delicious.”
“I know right?” Bryan replied with a grin, taking a sip of wine.
“Did you make it?” Kira asked teasingly.
“No, but someday I will make something for you.”
“Oh, so you can cook, huh?” She smirked and twirled her glass of wine, which she held in her hand.
“As a matter of fact, I can,” Bryan smirked back.
“I won’t forget your promise to cook for me. I would love to taste your food and see how good you are,” Kira said and popped some berries in her mouth.
She wanted to have a bite of everything in front of her. The chicken, sandwich, cheese, berries, everything.
“I don’t intend to forget my promise either,” Bryan stated, his eyes locked on hers as he raised his glass, “Cheers?”
“Cheers,” Kira said and clinked her glass with his.
