Aiden briefly paced around the office, thinking of the right answer to that question, even though there wasn’t one at the moment.
“When the right time comes, we will tell her. Telling her now might scare her off, we just need her to not hate us, and maybe then she might understand more when we tell her.”
“Hmm…” Ryker hummed. “I understand.”
“So, speaking about the curse, Did you find anything?”Bryan asked him.
They had sent him on this so-called business trip to actually see if he could find answers about their curse.
“Sadly, nothing,” he informed them, “Not a single clue or head start. It’s as if this kind of curse does not exist and exists at the same time.”
“This is really weird”, Aiden pondered. “It really is weird.”
They all agreed.
There was no clue about the curse or where it could have come from-just nothing. They needed a head start or a clue to actually know how they were going to break it, but every time they found nothing.
Even if they found something, if it was not strong enough, it was just as good as finding nothing.
“Anyway, you must be exhausted”, Bryan sighed. He was hoping for some good news, although he could not help but feel disappointed.
“Yeah, you should go settle down. Freshen up and get some rest,” Aiden told Ryker, his tone also laced with disappointment.
Ryker got up and gave a short bow. “Thank you, Alphas, and I know you both are stressing more about it, especially now with Kira around, but don’t worry, we will find a way to get everything back in order.”
“We hope so.” Both Bryan and Aiden nodded, and Ryker’s kind words actually made them feel a bit better.
Having said his piece, Ryker nodded and took his leave. Leaving Bryan and Aiden alone in the office with their thoughts.
“We will probably have to go see Morane later about this,” Aiden informed his brother.
“We will.”
“Oh, I almost forgot”, Bryan suddenly remembered as he started gathering some files into his work bag.
“What is it?”, Aiden asked him.
“I have a meeting, so do well not to miss me much or ruin things for us,” Bryan informed him.
“I should be the one telling you that, Bryan.”
“And is it the meeting with the company about the structure? The one you told me about?”, Aiden inquired from Bryan.
Bryan nodded as he got ready to leave. “Yes, that one!”
“Alright then, Good luck,” Aiden said as Bryan turned to leave. All necessary documents arranged and ready.
“I’ll drop by my room and change my outfit, nothing too fancy though,” Bryan said to himself as he walked out, but Aiden had overheard him.
“Exactly. I thought you wanted to wear that to the meeting”, Aiden mocked him jokingly.
“Keep your bad mouth to yourself, Aiden”, Bryan fired back as he shut the door immediately before Aiden could respond.
He chuckled inwardly afterward and left.
As for Aiden, he didn’t have much work to do for today. Just some pack duties, signing of files, and everything is good to go.
So, he got himself settled in and got to work.
After about some hours, it was now two pm and Aiden was finally done with his work for the day, at least unless anything that needed his attention arose.
He left the office and went downstairs for a quick snack. Thinking of what to do.
“Well, that should be a good idea,” he said to himself after coming up with something.
“Would she still be in the library or now in her room?”, Aiden asked himself as he headed to the library, only to find out that she was still there when he opened the door.
Kira did not move at the sound of him opening the door, which made him wonder if it was that she did not hear him come in or if she was too invested in whatever book she was reading.
But when he walked up to her, he found out that she was just asleep. He could not stop himself from smiling as he watched her sleeping form.
Her neck, on the other hand, was in what looked to be an uncomfortable state due to how she slept. But Aiden softly sets her neck well so she does not have to complain about neck pain later, even if she might not necessarily complain to them.
Thereafter, he decided to stay a bit and watch her. There were some spare chairs in the library. He got one and sat down at an angle, watching her closely.
As minutes passed, he could not take his eyes off her lips.
“Aiden, control yourself”, he muttered to himself, but he still could not stop staring at her lips.
Soon he found himself leaning in closer, his face inches from hers, when her eyes suddenly fluttered open.
Kira’s eyes immediately widened in shock as she found Aiden’s face only inches from hers. That was not what she was expecting to see when she woke up. She could hear the sound of her heart thudding in her chest as she held in her breath, the heat of his breath ghosting over her skin.
Her mind struggled to make sense of what was happening. “Why is he so close?”
She could hardly think straight with him being so close. They had not specifically had this kind of encounter before, or is it chemistry? Minus when she was in heat. Not even sure it was up to this.
“Why is he still not moving?”, She asked herself, also finding it hard to move as heat rushed to her cheeks.
She finally was able to say something, but her voice cracked, and it came out as a whisper. “A-alpha…?”
Aiden’s jaw tightened at the sweet sound of her voice, in a good way. He was captivated by her. He looked into her eyes and then back at her lips, his gaze softening.
This man knew what he was doing. He was so close, so tempted to lose control and claim those sweet, succulent lips with his own.
Meanwhile, Kira’s mind was spinning. She had never let him get to her this way…she felt… vulnerable. She wanted to look away, but she couldn’t, and she could feel how her cheeks burned.
It was so embarrassing, but still, she just could not look away. It was as if his gaze had also captivated her.
The world outside the moment they were having felt distant. Kira could feel Aiden’s warmth radiating towards her. Every breath he took, sending a shiver down her spine.
She tried to say something. Her lips parted, but no words came out.
Then, it was as if that had woken Aiden from his trance, and he pulled back slightly.
“You should be careful”, he murmured, his voice low and dangerous, with just the right amount of sexiness. “Next time, I might not stop.”
