Bryan and Aiden headed back home, feeling relaxed that even had gone as planned, even though there was a mistake.
“Let’s go check on Kira, see how the bond is feeling,” Bryan suggested.
“She must be asleep right now, though. I am sure the door is locked,” Aiden said.
“Which is why I have the key to her room door. I got the spare keys, I think that would be much better than removing the door totally”, Bryan chuckled.
“Smh, you are something else.” Aiden told him as they left for her room.
On getting there, they decided not to knock. Just in case, she was asleep because it was already very late at night.
They tried opening the door with the spare key but found out it was not locked, and so they got in thinking Kira would be asleep on her bed, only to find out that she was not on her bed or even in the room.
“Kira?”, Aiden called out as he went to check the bathroom, but she was not there either.
“She is not in there?”, Bryan asked him as he came out.
Aiden shook his head, “Where could she be?”
Bryan and Aiden left the room, making their way downstairs. They were not panicking yet because she might still be somewhere in the mansion and there was no how, she would leave the pack without them knowing.
So for now, all was good.
“Maya!!!”, Aiden called out to one of the maids, “Maya!!”
The maid quickly rushed out and bowed, “Yes, Alpha?”
“Have you seen our mate?”, Aiden asked, “she is not in her room.”
“Oh, yes I have,” Maya answered, she was the maid who had shown Kira where the library was.
“Luna Kira wanted to read some books, and so I took her to the library after she got some snacks,” Maya explained to them.
“Alright then”, Aiden uttered as he and Bryan were about to leave and head to the library, but he stopped in his tracks and turned around.
“Why are you still here, though?”, he asked Maya.
“I have some work to complete, Alpha,” she answered sincerely.
“Leave it and get some rest. You are dismissed for the day,” Bryan ordered.
Maya nodded, grateful, “Thank you so much, Alphas.”
Aiden and Bryan, feeling satisfied, turned and left.
Getting to the library, they could see a faint glow emanating from the room. It gave them the knowledge that she was there.
Going into the library, they noticed the snacks and book on the table, but they did not see their mate. They went on to call for her and check some parts of the library but still no sign of her.
“Where the hell is she?!”, Bryan shouted angrily.
Aiden had already mind linked the warriors and guards in the pack, ordering them to find her!
“There is possibly no way she left without anyone seeing her,” Bryan said angrily as he and Aiden left the library, “How could they not notice her?”
“I thought I would be able to get some good sleep, today has been one hell of a day, but still…that is not possible,” Aiden said, his voice also filled with anger as they went outside.
Meanwhile, Kira, after her brief paralysis, endured the pain and the forcefulness of the bond’s resurgence.
The minute she noticed that they knew she was gone, due to how the guards/warriors started moving around as if they were looking for someone, it seemed to shake her brain.
With everything in her, she pushed through and hid herself somewhere. A small building, she hid herself behind it and watched.
It seemed like the warriors on night patrol at the border were ordered to come or something, she had no idea, but they left the border, and she took it as her chance to escape.
Immediately the coast was clear, Kira ran like her life depended on it. Which it actually did.
She ran so fast, not looking back, she just kept running and running until she passed the border.
As she kept running and not stopping, she heard a loud growl. Not from one Alpha but from the both of them.
“WHERE IS SHE??!”, Bryan growled out angrily.
“FIND HER!”, Aiden ordered, his eyes darkening.
Bryan bit his lips from anger as he used his fingers to call on the warrior who was the head of the night patrol.
“She is nowhere to be found in the pack,” Bryan said all too calmly, “My mate, your Luna is nowhere to be found in the pack.”
“And so I wonder. How was she able to pass the border when I have great warriors standing guard?”, Bryan questioned the warrior, finding it hilarious in a bad way. “Don’t you think that does not make any sense?”
He then took a deep breath and closed his eyes, “Look, I am actually surprised and very much proud that she got past you and the other warriors on night patrol but still disappointed that none of you, not a single one of you saw her. Not even her shadow.”
“Alpha we-”
The moment the warrior opened his mouth, Aiden cut him off, “I have heard enough.”
“Bring her back, that is all you need to do. Bring her back unharmed. I do not care how you will find her, I do not care what you will do to find her, just… Bring. Her. Back!”.
That was Bryan’s order.
Bryan’s command was followed by immediate action. Quickly, the warrior turned and left, rounding up a few of their comrades to carry out their Alpha’s order.
Aiden also gave an order to a few of their best trackers, and they quickly left too.
“I do not think she has gone too far,” Bryan
said, his voice laces to worry and concern.
“She could not have. I feel so restless!”, Aiden confessed, “I do not think I can just wait and do nothing.”
“I can’t either,” Bryan agreed, “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Oh I am.” Aiden’s voice dropped low.
