*Moments Earlier…*
Kira had finally found a library with the help of a maid in the mansion.
And as for the feeling that someone was watching her, she just concluded it was all in her head, since she found no one.
“I guess I was just being paranoid”, she had said to herself.
But still, she checked a few times after turning around and shouting, who is there? But she still saw no one. It was a bit weird but whatever.
Kira was glad after all the suspicions to see a face she knew, which belonged to one of the maids. She felt more relaxed and asked the maid if she knew where she could find books to read.
And now, she was alone in this wonderful library, with some snacks.
“This is nice. Never knew they had such a room”, Kira complimented in satisfaction as she relaxed on a comfortable chair which she also found in the library.
She had picked up a book that looked pretty interesting and dived into it.
Kira focused on reading and enjoying her snacks, with the soft rustle of pages and the peaceful atmosphere, which created a sense of calm. The light was warm and soothing, the scent of old books filling the air.
Out of nowhere, she felt a sharp, intense pain in her chest. It was as if something deep within her had been torn apart violently. It was a very unexpected and overwhelming feeling, causing her to gasp and drop the book she was holding.
She clutched her chest as her heart raced, trying to understand what was happening to her.
For a moment, her vision got blurry. The bond that she had been resisting, though faint, suddenly snapped. The sensation was both physical and emotional.
“Is this a joke?”, Kira said out loud to herself as she felt the bond between her and her Alpha twin mates break.
The connection she was fighting against was suddenly gone and for a brief moment, the loss left her disoriented and light-headed. But, as expected, she felt a growing sense of relief.
“I-it’s gone…it is really gone. But…why do I feel… lighter?”
As the pain began to subside, Kira felt a wave of relief wash over her. She had not realized just how much the bond had weighed on her until it was gone.
The tension in her shoulders released. She could then let out the breath she was holding in.
She felt a smile creeping up her lips as the library, once spinning in her vision, began to settle back into place.
Rubbing her chest where the pain had been, she could not help but laugh happily, “I am free. Finally… I am free. No more forced connection, it’s just me, no bond, hahaha”, she laughed.
Instead of feeling the need to confront the twins or seek answers, she felt a strong desire to embrace this freedom and take this chance.
“This is the chance I have been waiting for all along, I will think about other things later, when I am gone.”
With that said, Kira wasted no time in leaving. She wasn’t concerned about putting the books back or cleaning the place where she ate, she just left the library.
This was her chance to leave, and she sure as hell was going to take that chance.
*Moments Later at Morane’s home…*
“You wanted to bond with your mate, since she does not want to bond or be mated with you two, and you do it yourselves… But instead of binding her to yourself, you bound yourselves to each other?”, Morane asked them, trying to hold back her laughter, “You two have not changed at all since you were little.”
“This is all Aiden, and I was being supportive”, Bryan justified his actions, looking away from Aiden, who snarled at him.
Morane let out a small laugh before continuing what she wanted to say. “This mistake might have carried a heavy price. But it is something I can fix.”
Bryan and Aiden were relieved on hearing that.
“So, shall we?”, she asked them.
“Please.” Aiden answered.
Morane moved with purpose, collecting ingredients and tools she would need for the ritual, also directing Bryan and Aiden to a room in her home where the ritual will take place.
Her ingredients consisted of a vial of herbs, a dark crystal to absorb the unnatural energy and lastly a dagger.
Aiden had offered the blade he came with but Morane had told him that the silver dagger she would use would be much needed and suitable than the blade he was offering.
“Stand there,” she said to Bryan and Aiden.
They both did as they were told, standing in the middle of the room.
Morane proceeded to draw a circle around them with salt. Thereafter, she started chanting some words under her breath, while sprinkling the herbs and placing the dark crystal close to the circle.
“Join your hands together,” she told them, and they did that immediately.
Morane began to chant, her voice deepening.
“ut veritas revelatur, ut veritas revelatur”, she chanted, the air in the room thickening, candles flickering. “nexum inter fratres falsun. ut veritas revelatur.”
As she chanted, she picked up the dark crystal, not stopping. A sharp wind whipped through the room, circling Bryan and Aiden. They could feel it getting faint, the bond between them, the thread.
With a final, powerful word, “revelatur.” Morane raised the dark crystal high, absorbing the broken energy as the wrong mating bond between Bryan and Aiden snaps.
Bryan and Aiden staggered slightly, feeling the bond they had between them dissolve into nothingness.
The energy in the dark crystal immediately changed, signaling that the ritual was successful.
“We will now correct your mistake and re-bond you to your mate”, Morane turned to them, her expression more solemn now.
“The blood of your mate will forge the bond anew, this time, binding her to both of you as it was meant to be,” she informed them.
“Please, the vial,” she said, instructing them to give it to her.
Aiden, who was with it, nodded and retrieved it.
Morane took the vial and carefully poured a few drops onto the silver dagger. She then asked that they show her their palms. They were already healed from their cut earlier, and so she went ahead and sliced across each of their palms, letting their blood mix with Kira’s in a sacred, binding act.
Morane’s voice was low, commanding the forces of nature to seal the bond as she started yet again another incantation.
“sanguine sacro, vinculum verum, tibrus animis ligetur.”
“Join your bloody hands together,” she said to them quickly, before resuming her chanting.
Bryan and Aiden followed her command, clasping their bloody hands together. The blood mingled, and a soft light began to emanate from their joined hands. It grew brighter as the bond solidified.
Morane smirked, proud and satisfied, watching as the light spread from their hands. Her work was done!
She knew the twins could feel the warmth again just by looking at how they acted physically.
“It is back, I can feel it,” Aiden confirmed.
“Same!”, Bryan also confirmed.
“I have completed the bonding ritual for your mate with you both. The bond you now share is true and will hold, even against her resistance. But please remember, Alphas, power must be wielded with care. What you did could have resulted in something much worse. Do not force it again, lest you invite a greater disaster.” She warned them.
“We understand, thank you, Morane”, Bryan and Aiden both said with gratitude. They truly were grateful.
Morane gave a short nod and smile, “I am sure you will need to leave for now. Although I am looking forward to discussing more about this mate of yours and the curse.”
“That is right, we will be seeing each other again soon.” Aiden informed her.
“We will take our leave now, thank you once again Morane,” Bryan said as he and his brother then left.
On the other hand, Kira was already close to the border, having passed some guards. She still had a plan, just in case she meets some warriors on night patrol.
But as she reached it, she felt the bond surge back to life, stronger than ever. It was like the connection she was fighting against, doubled over and the pain was weakening.
She tried to move, but she was unable to take another step forward.
