Chapter 372: He Thought You Were Pregnant

Callie didn’t say much, her face pale and unpleasant.
When she was discharged from the hospital, she ran into Tobias. It seemed Nelson had already left. With his hands in his pockets, he said indifferently, “Just now, he thought you were pregnant.”
The man, who always kept his emotions in check, had been almost panicked a while ago. When he heard that she was vomiting only because of a bad stomach, he looked slightly disappointed and somewhat embarrassedly asked him, “No need for an ultrasound?”
Tobias was stunned at that moment.
“Oh, no need, it’s just a bad stomach.”
Tobias didn’t dare to look at Nelson’s expression. He already knew that this man’s love for Callie had reached a certain level, to the point where he wanted to have a child with her.
Love…
“I only heard a bit of your conversation. What’s going on? Did you and Nelson have a falling out?”
Callie got into the passenger seat, taking out her phone to check who had called. Most of the calls were from colleagues in the department. “He’s maliciously attacking Scott Group, not even sparing Shamar.”
Regan understood and glanced at her. “Marilyn has approached you.”
“Yes, poor Miss Ellison. If I were a man, I would also fall for her charms.” Callie selectively replied to some messages, including one from Litzy.
“From the looks of it, you’re going to stand against Nelson,” Regan said.
“I have no choice but to stand against him.” Callie knew she didn’t have much power and could only do her best. Suddenly, she remembered something and asked, “Is Marilyn the heir of the Ellison family? Why not Isaac?”
At this, Regan’s face darkened slightly. “You don’t know? The Ellison family favors daughters, especially Marilyn. Plus, Isaac isn’t particularly outstanding, so everyone assumes Marilyn will be the future heir.”
“It’s strange. Usually, the eldest son inherits the family business. The Ellison family doesn’t seem to favor sons over daughters.”
“There are hidden reasons.” Regan didn’t elaborate.
Litzy received Callie’s reply and immediately called her. “What’s going on? How come you were dismissed just like that? Did you talk to the boss?”
Not only did she not talk to him, but she also had an argument with the “boss.”
“It’s nothing, just a job. It’s not like I’ll starve without it.”
Seeing Callie so nonchalant, Litzy was puzzled. “This isn’t like you, Callie. Did you see today’s financial news?”
“… Yes.”
“You have nothing to do with it, right?” Litzy asked cautiously.
“… What does it have to do with me?”
“You scared me. I thought it was too much of a coincidence and might be related.” Litzy took a deep breath. “I just went into the break room and heard the bosses discussing. They said the amount used by a foreign company to acquire Shamar’s team was between ten and twenty billion dollars.”
Callie choked on her saliva. “Really?”
“That’s what I heard them say. I’m not sure. You seem very surprised.”
“No, thank you, Litzy. Keep an eye on the design department for me, whether I can go back or not.” After giving instructions, Callie hung up and then said to Regan, “Take me to Shamar.”
Regan turned the steering wheel. “Okay.”
After getting married, her personality had been smoothed out a lot, making Callie somewhat unaccustomed. “Is everything okay in the Ellison family?”
“Don’t ask.”
It seemed things weren’t going well.
Callie curbed her curiosity and stopped probing.
She told Shamar about the acquisition amount. He was very pleased. “This is important for us. Knowing the approximate amount gives us a way to respond.”
Callie smiled. “Why don’t I stay and face it with you? Anyway, I’ve been dismissed by Nelson and have nothing else to do.”
