Chapter 352: Do Not Know Him

Ben sighed, crossing his arms as he looked at Nelson’s face, thinking this man was “unfathomable.”
Nelson, the executive of Oconnor Group, was a renowned figure in the country, known for his strategic prowess. He had made a name for himself at twenty, and now, whether people liked him or not, they all feared him to some extent. He was handsome and appealing to both men and women. It was impressive, but Ben never expected that three women would risk their lives for him.
Callie had been unconscious for two whole days.
During this time, follow-up actions continued without interruption. When the police arrived, Jaquan handed over the gun voluntarily, his attitude calm. “The gun is from the shooting range, perfectly legal.”
The police checked thoroughly and did not pursue the matter further.
The next steps involved checking surveillance footage and calming everyone down.
Jaquan’s attitude was poor. Sitting in a wheelchair, he told Nelson after completing his statement, “If she has any issues, I will take action.”
He didn’t specify whether he meant Marilyn or Callie, but both men knew who he was referring to.
Callie woke up from the pain. It was dusk, and the soft light fell on her face in a completely unfamiliar environment. Any slight movement caused excruciating pain in her shoulder.
Nelson’s hand was already bandaged. He stood there like a mountain covered in thin snow, exuding an inherent coldness and detachment.
The woman lying in bed looked like a broken porcelain doll. Even in her weakened state, her beautiful face remained striking.
Nelson missed the times when she would throw tantrums.
He looked down at her and spoke softly, “Awake?”
Callie stared at him for a long time, blinking in confusion with an innocent look. “Who are you?”
Nelson glanced at Ben, questioning his medical skills.
Ben was puzzled. “What’s the problem?”
Nelson’s voice was cold. “Amnesia?”
Ben looked at Callie. “It doesn’t make sense. The injury is on her body, not her brain.”
Callie asked one question after another. “Who are you? Why am I here? Why am I injured?”
Ben frowned. “Missy, take a good look. Are you sure you’ve never seen this man before?”
Callie met Nelson’s darkening gaze and shook her head in confusion.
Nelson leaned closer to her, his slender fingers touching her face, his sharp eyes locking onto hers. His fingers moved to her chin and tightened.
“Callie,” he said slowly, not letting her avoid his gaze. “You don’t recognize me, hmm?”
Callie’s eyes were pure and unblemished, showing no fear. She murmured with difficulty, “You’re so fierce.”
Nelson’s grip loosened slightly but tightened again after three seconds. A mocking smile appeared on his lips. “Is that so? It seems I can stop your father’s treatment then.”
The newly awakened woman became agitated instantly.
She kicked her legs wildly, trying to break free from Nelson’s grip. “Let go of me! Get lost!”
Nelson released her as she wished, straightening up to watch her struggle with an expression as if he were looking at an easily crushed ant.
Tears streamed down Callie’s face, soaking into her dark hair.
The last scene before she fainted still lingered in her mind. She felt foolish for not running away when she had the chance but staying to watch the chaos. She valued her life so much…
Her chest heaved with heavy breaths, causing her wound to throb painfully. She forced herself to calm down, tears still on her face.
Ben had known Nelson for a long time and had never seen a woman dare to speak to him like this, ready to fight to the end.
Nelson glanced sideways at Ben, who immediately stopped smiling and gently covered Callie with a blanket. “Missy, don’t be angry. Let’s talk after you recover.”
