At that moment, as Jaquan was about to approach, he shouted with all his might, “Callie!”
Cora, who had been knocked to the ground by Nelson, suddenly gathered all her strength, picked up a knife from the ground, and stabbed it into Callie’s waist.
Callie never expected such an attack. Her lips turned pale instantly, and her gaze remained fixed on the scene of Nelson and Marilyn embracing. Cora’s sinister voice echoed in her ears, “It seems he chose Marilyn.”
With that, she pushed the knife deeper.
Callie stared blankly down at herself, seeing blood flowing out, so much blood.
Nelson’s face had already turned ashen. He was nearly frantic, “Callie!-”

The sky had not yet fully brightened; the distant horizon was tinged with a pale blue.
A man stood by the railing, having changed into a new set of clothes.
He wore a simple classic plain shirt with two buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up twice.
In the gradually brightening light, one could vaguely see the wounds on his arms caused by friction, still untreated, with bloodstains yet to fade.
He was enveloped in a cold aura, his face looking extremely grim.
Several attendants stood beside him, the leader kneeling on the ground: “It was my mistake that allowed Mrs. Oconnor to be followed and left isolated in danger. Mr. Oconnor, I acknowledge my fault and await punishment.”
Nelson’s subordinates knew that if something happened to Callie in front of them, their consequences would be dire.
The cigarette between the man’s fingers was almost burnt out. He stared at the distant sea, his voice clear: “How long have you been following me?”
The other shivered: “O-one year.”
Nelson laughed coldly. His laugh sent chills through the bodyguards behind him, causing them all to kneel.
He extinguished the cigarette and slowly turned around, his voice very light: “One year. One year and you still don’t understand my rules. You’ve caused me such a big problem. How can I trust someone like you?”
His defense seemed particularly weak under the man’s powerful pressure: “I… I really didn’t expect Cora to have ulterior motives and target Mrs. Oconnor, so I didn’t increase the precautions…”
Nelson’s gaze passed over the kneeling man to the room where people in white coats were busy.
Callie was being resuscitated inside.
He spoke very slowly: “I don’t want to take action today. Go receive your punishment. If anything happens to that woman inside, you will all be buried with her!”
The man was icy cold, and his subordinate lowered his head even further. He had followed Nelson for a year and had never seen him this angry. Most of the time, he was indifferent. This time, they had truly touched his reverse scale.
“Get out.”
The space around him cleared. The door to the room finally opened, and Ben, the best surgeon in Ylosea, took off his blood-stained gloves and walked up to Nelson. “I remember you never smoked.”
Today he had an extremely important surgery. He was already on the operating table when the dean forcibly pulled him off and replaced him, saying he would take responsibility if anything happened and that Ben needed to immediately go save Mrs. Oconnor of the Oconnor family.
Seeing Ben like this, Nelson’s expression softened a bit. Ben dared to say these things at this moment, which meant Callie’s situation wasn’t too bad.
He squinted his eyes. Ben didn’t dare to say anything more ambiguous. “Fortunately, we resuscitated her in time and took proper emergency measures. She’s brought back to life and will wake up once the anesthesia wears off.”
Nelson nodded without any discernible expression and didn’t say another word.
