Chapter 203: I’m Running!

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2024-10-27

Ferris sat in a Mercedes-Maybach, touching his red and swollen face that had been struck. His fists clenched and unclenched several times. His anger had reached an unprecedented peak, a level he had never experienced before.
He was determined to teach that guy a lesson, to make him pay dearly for what he’d done.
Living in Hiphia for so long, Ferris had never encountered such an infuriating situation. He couldn’t believe someone had dared to hit him, slapping him across the face no less. It was said that one should never strike the face when fighting, but this was a blatant trampling of his dignity. What’s more galling was that the man had the audacity to claim Ferris had been blacklisted by the financial world.
Although it was just a threat, Ferris absolutely refused to be intimidated like this. He was determined to retaliate, to make that guy pay a hefty price!
“Damn it! Adams Group, I’ll make sure Adams Group goes bankrupt!” He gritted his teeth in rage, his fists tightly clenched. If Kayden were between his teeth right now, he would have ground him to dust.
He pulled out his phone and dialed a number, but there was no answer. This was a top-priority call; he wanted to pull up all of Kayden’s information. He was going to utterly destroy this man!
By “destroy,” he didn’t mean killing him. He meant leaving him with nothing, ruining his reputation, and obliterating everything important to him. For instance, his wife Kayden valued and protected his wife so much. Ferris wouldn’t mind turning her into a dog right before Kayden’s eyes!
This was Ferris’s method of revenge. He wouldn’t kill his target; he would make them collapse, shatter their beliefs. The best way to destroy someone was to eliminate the person they most wanted to protect, to show them how insignificant they truly were.
Ferris had always operated this way. As a result, many people had suffered at his hands. It was precisely because he was accustomed to this that he thought to repeat the pattern with Kayden.
He had his eye on Kayden’s wife, and he fully intended to have his way with her in front of Kayden. Ferris had already done so in his imagination.
As he was about to call a second person, a call came in from the headquarters of Tripod Bank.
“Hello!” He answered, clearing his throat and trying to speak as politely as possible. “This is Tripod Bank, Hiphia branch. Ferris speaking.”
“This is the CEO from headquarters. As of now, you’re fired!” The voice on the other end was old and solemn, but the words were decisive and resolute.
“What?” Ferris could hardly believe his ears. “Mr. Blaney, are you sure there’s no mistake? I…”
“I’ll say it one last time. You’re fired from Tripod Bank. From this moment on, you’re no longer part of our organization.” The voice on the other end spoke clearly and crisply, with no intention of letting Ferris speak.
“Mr. Blaney, why? You’ve seen my contributions to the company. How can you fire me? Didn’t you say that as long as the company exists, you wouldn’t fire me?” Ferris’s voice was choked with emotion, sounding almost pathetic.
His contributions to Tripod Bank were indeed significant. Thanks to his reputation, the bank had become a leader in the financial world. If he were to switch jobs, it would cause a stir in the entire financial sector. Of course, that was his influence in the past. Now, his impact wasn’t as pronounced. Having stayed in Hiphia for too long, if he were to change jobs now, it would at most cause a ripple in Hiphia alone.
The man grew impatient. “I would have liked to keep you forever, but you’ve offended someone you shouldn’t have. Ferris, let me give you a piece of advice: young man, be careful from now on!”
With that, the call ended. Holding the phone, Ferris said “Hello? Hello?” a couple of times, and once he was sure the call had been disconnected, he felt the world spinning around him. Offended someone he shouldn’t have? Who could he have possibly offended?
It must be an excuse from headquarters.
“Fine, you want to fire me? That’s your loss! I can find another job anytime.” Ferris muttered to himself.
This was his confidence speaking. With his reputation, he truly believed he could find work easily. In his mind, the world was at his fingertips; he could make anyone do whatever he wanted. He was Hiphia’s model representative any organization he joined would surely become top-tier in business and all other aspects.
So, he was very confident. Whether it was dealing with Kayden or addressing his own work situation, he was sure he had it under control.
He wasn’t in a hurry. Moving slowly but with utmost confidence, he found another number to call. “Hello, Mr. Hammer! This is Ferris. You mentioned wanting me to work at your bank a while ago. I’ve considered it and I’m ready to accept.”
“Who is this?” The voice on the other end asked cautiously, as if afraid of mishearing.
Ferris laughed heartily. “It’s me, Ferris! Mr. Hammer, I was thinking…”
“Beep beep beep!” The call had already been disconnected. The man didn’t say another word, as if he didn’t want to speak to Ferris at all.
After hanging up, Ferris stared at his phone in bewilderment, completely at a loss. This Mr. Hammer had tried to poach him multiple times, offering a much higher salary than Tripod Bank. Moreover, he had fully expressed his sincerity. For instance, Mr. Hammer had offered his mistress to Ferris, and even indicated he wouldn’t mind offering his wife as well.
He never expected that now, not even a single extra word would be spared for him. It was too abnormal.
After putting down his phone, he called several other companies in succession. They all hung up immediately upon hearing his voice. He wanted to ask why, but there was nowhere to turn for answers. These people used to compete fiercely to recruit him, and the sudden change was truly shocking.
Could it be that, as the computer repairman had said, he had truly been blacklisted in the financial world, and now no one dared to hire him? The thought sent a chill down his spine. If this was true, then who was that guy?
As Ferris’s mind was in a whirl, a call came in. It was from his wife. He raised his trembling hand to press the answer button, then asked in a slightly choked voice, “Hello! What’s the matter?”
His wife’s voice quivered as she asked, “What… what are you doing outside?”
Her voice sounded as if she was engaged in some kind of physical activity. Ferris was visibly stunned. What did this mean?
“What do you mean, what am I doing?” Ferris roared, as if he had been betrayed. “What are YOU doing?”
“Ah! I- I- I!” After a series of “I”s came a strange sound of impacts and slaps.
“I’m running!”
