“Money!” Myra scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “And how much of that have you earned yourself? You’re nothing but a parasite, living off your parents! What’ll you do when your father’s gone? You’ll be left to fend for yourself!”
These were words Leah often used, and Myra had picked them up.
Dillon was about to retort when Dominic suddenly stood up from his chair, his voice booming, “Enough!”
That single word rang out like a cannon shot, silencing the argument instantly. Even the whispering onlookers fell quiet. In an instant, the entire area was enveloped in silence, all because of Dominic’s command.
This was the power Dominic wielded.
He stood there as if he were on top of the world, a god looking down on mere mortals.
After standing up, he stretched lazily and asked casually, “Which one of you is Leah?”
Dominic’s voice was deep and masculine. Though he was only about 5’7″, his build was imposing. His demeanor suggested he was a trained fighter, his voice resonating with power. Yet, compared to Kayden, his abilities were insignificant.
Hearing her name, Leah stepped forward proudly. “That would be me.”
Dominic’s gaze swept over Leah, from head to toe, lingering on her shapely legs beneath her short skirt. He stroked his long beard approvingly, nodding slightly. “I’ve heard much about Leah. Now that I see you, I must say, you’re quite the beauty. Enough to make a man’s mouth water. Tell me, do you have a boyfriend? If not, why not consider dating me? Say yes, and I’ll make sure Dillon breaks up with his girlfriend.”
“Dominic!” Dillon cried out, alarmed. “How can you trade away my happiness like that-”
Before he could finish, Leah cut him off dismissively, addressing Dominic. “You? With that mug of yours? All brawn and no brains. You think you’re worthy of being my boyfriend?”
Dominic’s brow furrowed at her words, but he remained silent. One of his lackeys, however, stepped forward angrily. “You bitch! How dare you speak to Dominant King like that?”
“That’s right! Dominic is a fine specimen, born to rule! You better watch your mouth, or you’ll be struck by lightning!”
Leah glanced at the lackey dismissively, not even bothering to respond. Instead, she addressed Dominic directly. “Let’s cut to the chase, shall we? You’re here to fight on Dillon’s behalf, right? To accept our challenge?”
Dominic smiled slightly, nodding. “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. But if you agree to be my girlfriend, then I’m definitely not.”
“Dominic!” Dillon was on the verge of tears. Dominic was really making things difficult at this crucial moment.
“Shut up!” Dominic roared at him, his eyes wide. “I said shut it!”
Dillon looked utterly dejected at Dominic’s outburst.
Leah, however, seemed completely unfazed by their antics. She smirked, “Huh, you’re quite the comedian. Trying to make peace because you know you can’t win? If that’s the case, you’re nothing but a coward!” She punctuated her words by sticking out her pinky finger mockingly.
Dominic’s anger flared when he saw this gesture. He shouted, “If it’s a challenge you want, then bring it on! Let’s see just how tough this person of yours is!”
Leah swallowed hard, her gaze shifting to Kayden. Kayden had long since wanted to leave, feeling that staying any longer would only diminish his status.
Without a word, he stepped forward. Seeing this, Dillon couldn’t help but laugh, pointing at Kayden triumphantly. “Am I seeing things right? This is who you brought to challenge us? This is your so-called fighting expert?”
Leah replied calmly, “That’s right. He’s all we need.”
“Ahahaha!” Dillon roared with laughter, slapping his thigh. “Is this some kind of joke? Bringing someone like this! Myra, are you in on this nonsense too? Or is it that you don’t really want to break up with me, so you brought this guy to get himself killed? You’re getting more and more interesting. I try to keep you, and you pull this stunt. It’s beyond words.”
Dillon’s words resonated with the onlookers. “This Leah is really something else. This guy looks like he’d blow away in a strong breeze, let alone fight.”
“Yeah, what master? I could take him down in two moves.”
“Maybe Dillon’s right. Myra doesn’t want to break up, so she brought this weakling on purpose.”
“I bet Dominic could finish him in two punches, tops!”
“Two? One’s more than enough!”
“…”
Hearing these comments, Myra felt utterly embarrassed, unable to look anyone in the eye. The person Leah had brought clearly didn’t inspire confidence. Just in terms of physique, he was at a disadvantage. And when it came to presence, he was outmatched again. The outcome of this fight seemed a foregone conclusion.
Once the fight started, Dominic would undoubtedly make short work of Kayden.
“Alas!” Myra realized it was too late to stop this, as Kayden was already within five meters of Dominic.
Dominic’s gaze was haughty, looking down on Kayden. As he stared at him, it was as if a god was looking down on a mere mortal, his contemptuous gaze enough to make anyone want to lash out.
After a moment, Dominic raised his hand to stroke his long beard, speaking in an arrogant tone. “Listen here, nobody. You’d better turn tail and run! This is no place for the likes of you. Leave now while you still can! My men don’t waste their time on nobodies!”
Dominic’s tyrannical ways earned him the nickname “Dominant King” in the underworld.
Kayden mulled over his words.
Nobody?
For Dominic to call others nobodies – it was utterly ridiculous. A man in his late thirties or early forties, still showing off like a schoolboy, was clearly disrespectful to the name Dominant King.
“After today, you’ll never have the chance to be called Dominant King again!” With these words, Kayden strode towards Dominic. By making the first move, he had stripped Dominic of any opportunity to act.
