“So let me hear your plan.”
Cael had promised that they would sign on a document that would make sure that Cade still remained in the company after she had helped Cael become the chairman of the company.
“A plan?” Cael stuttered. He had been more invested in the conversation when it seemed like Harper, who was from his brother’s side, was willing to help him. That should be great news. His mother would be happy to hear this development even though she would go on and on about how they should not fully trust Harper as she might switch on them too soon.
“So no plan.” Harper took the glass and downed the entire thing. “What do I need to know about taking over the company?” She followed up, dropping her empty glass. Frances took it upon herself to fill up the glass immediately.
“Grandfather wants the new chairman to be married; he’s basically a family man so with kids, he wants a happy home.”
“Does that mean that if Cade were to divorce or to have a mistress, then he would be taken off?” Harper said, a smile and a devious plan forming in her head.
“I guess so. He hates infidelity so much,” Cael added.
“Bingo,” Harper said excitedly.
“What are you so excited about?” Frances asked, loving the way her composure had changed to the confident one they were seeing now.
“It is easy; we just have to make Cade cheat on his wife with me.”
“And you think he would fall for that? Cade has been full proof of his no-love plan for a long time now.” Cael said. He had tried to send girls his brother’s way to derail him from his work, but it seemed like the more he sent, the more devoted and focused Cade grew.
“We were in love once and I believe we still are. Cade is just distracted by the opportunities of being a chairman. Once I can have him alone to myself, I am sure that I can change a lot in a short time.” Harper sounded confident; it was hard to believe. Frances was, however, sceptical because it was possible she was drunk already.
“You sound confident.”
“Of course I have to be. Cade and I had some serious reactions, and I am sure that all of this will be over as soon as I can get access to Cade personally for a few months without the interruption from Ophelai,” Harper said, and they nodded.
“Okay, then we need to get you close to him, somewhere you would be able to see and interact with him on a daily basis.”
“His office,” Harper said, clapping her hands loudly, and they were a bit startled.
“His office?” Cael asked confused.
“Oh yes, his office; that is a brilliant idea. If you work with him, he would have no choice but to see you every day.”
“And you think he would accept that?” Cael asked.
“Not if we ask Grandpa to reassign Sue and get Harper up there.” Frances was really getting into this idea so much she was loving it.
“But how? Sue has been nothing but wonderful to Cade, and Grandpa is all about getting Cade the best,” Cael said, his mind spinning thinking of an idea.
“I got it,” Harper said again. She felt like she needed to get paid because she was practically doing all of their planning for them while they sat there just trying to make it sound better.
“What is it?” Cael jumped in immediately.
“We have to frame Sue or whoever she is and get her out of there that way we can sneak me in. You can ask your grandfather to get me in there; I am sure you can do that little task, right?” Harper knew this was a slap on his ego, but these were the only two to make sure that he got it done.
“That is easy; you just have to find some fraudulent activity and pin it on Sue and after that, we can get you there, this should take a week.” Cael said, trying to hide the fact that her words had struck something in him and he had to badly pull this off no matter what.
“Like what?” Harper asked.
“I will find some; there is always some kind of fraud in big companies. Many workers always try to scam the boss because they think all the money that goes around there belongs to them,” Frances said. She had this experience firsthand from her father’s company. There was always someone doing something dirty.
“Okay, then let us do that but let us make it within four days so I can resume early and begin working on it immediately.” Harper said and they nodded.
“What made you do this?” Frances could not help her curiosity; she had to ask.
“Well, I need a job because I am out of cash, and this way I can be closer to Cade while helping you out with your job,” Harper said like it was the most logical sentence she had ever said.
“Well, in that case, this is wonderful. I had already thought of how much I might have needed to blackmail and manipulate you to get these things done.”
“Oh, I am just glad to be doing this for Cade’s and mine future,” Harper said dreamily as she had just imagined them on a lawn with kids and dogs just playing around and throwing kisses all around the place.
“Okay, that is weird.” Frances was creeped out by her sudden expression and a smile broke out. “What do we do about Ophelua though? She is not going to let this end badly, as we want.”
“Then we should make her chest too. That way they have to break it off with each other.”
“A double cheating?” Cael was getting more and more interested and she was glad he had come along when Frances said to.
“I know someone is into her as much as I am into Cade and he would help us.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course”
“Let us meet him.”
