I Have To Go

Lilith’s POV
The night kept going on smoothly as there was a slow build up from cold to warm, and it was soon hot, until… Adams just stopped.
“What’s the matter…?” I let out as I noticed that Adams had stopped for a couple of moments. I had shut my eyes for a couple of minutes, waiting for him to make me feel like I had made him feel a few moments ago.
But there was nothing.
I popped my eyes open to see him just planted on top of me. He had stopped like he had heard something which I hadn’t heard while being caught up in that wonderful moment when we had been unable to get enough of each other.
“Adams…? What’s going on…?” I was starting to get scared that something worse than Ted acting up was about to happen. “You look quite”
“I have to go…” he said as he sprung up from me. “I just got a message from Ronan… he mind-linked with me to tell me that there are some strange men who claim they are here to see me…”
“What…? Why now…?” I voiced out the questions that kept reechoing in my head as I was filled with a slight twinge of disappointment that was threatening to evolve into full frustration.
He was back in his clothes before I could say another word to him. That was more than enough to show me that tonight wasn’t going to be that night. It was hard for me to come to terms with that.
But at that point, I chose to be more concerned about the men who had come to see him, as that seemed to be more important than any other thing. I soon got up from bed and was soon slipping back into my dress.
What a waste… I sighed inaudibly as I gulped down the frustration that was about to spring up again. We had been so close…
“I’m sorry… but I have to go. I promise I’ll be back before you know it…” Adams’ reassurance did little to make me feel better, but I was going to wait after all. “Is that alright…?”
“It’s fine…” I threw myself into his arms like he was about to head off into a distant pack which he wouldn’t be returning from in years. But he was just going to perform some regular Alpha duties downstairs.
“I’ll be back… there’s nothing to get worked up about…” he gently dabbed my forehead with a kiss before he made his way to the door.
The emptiness in the room was quite overwhelming after he had left. I thought of getting busy with something till he returned to the room, but I couldn’t quite come up with what I wanted to do and that was quite frustrating as I found myself feeling a bit restless without him there.
Just a couple of moments had passed and there I was, feeling like I had been without him for hours. I got up and made for the door, as I had decided to go search for him. At least to know what he could have been up to with the guests.
I justified my curiosity with the fact that I was Luna and that I was meant to be part of whatever that went on with him. Having that in mind had me feeling like I had done the right thing even though he had told me to wait for him in the room.
“Where are you going?” Adams’ voice from behind nearly had me scared as I had been scaling down the stairs like a thief.
“Oh goddess… you nearly had me tripping over…” I struggled to turn around and catch my breath as I was trying to come to terms with the fact that I was staring at Adams. “How did you get here so fast…?”
“Well… the visitors were not as urgent as I had been expecting them to be. I had Ronan handle the rest of the meeting,” he said as he wrapped me in his arms. Being close to him made me feel all those feelings which I had felt when he had been with me in the room. “So… now… I’m here with you again, all alone.”
I was glad that he felt quite pleased to see me as much as I was to see him. That was more than enough to make me feel at ease with him.
“That’s good…” I said, as I buried myself in his embrace while I took in his sweet scent, which caused a lot of ripples coursing through my entire being. I couldn’t wait to be back in bed with him as there were just too many wild thoughts running through my head. “So…”
“So…?” he asked like he didn’t know what I was talking about. He just wanted me to say it.
“So… can we head back into the room now?” I came clean about my desires which just couldn’t stay in my head anymore. I was more than ready to pick up from where we had left off.
“Well… the thing is…” he said as he was holding me closer to himself. “I would want us to have this special moment somewhere really special.”
I liked the sound of those words, even though the room was just fine. But then, there was no way I could say no to anything that he had to say to me. It was really hard for me to put up any resistance.
“So, where do you want to take me to?” I asked, even though I was still feeling a bit weird about it.
“Somewhere I used to go as a child,” he said as he was soon leading me down the stairs with my hand in his. “It is quite a memorable spot for me and I hope that you don’t mind stepping some distance outside the palace again.”
“Oh…” I felt a bit weird that he was suggesting that, but I was going to trust his leading any way. “Alright then.”
He said nothing while he walked me all the way out through the back. There were just too many things that felt off about it and one of them was the fact that he had to sneak out of the palace. He was the Alpha and that meant he didn’t need to explain to anyone where he was off to.
“Here we are,” he said as he motioned to a horse which was standing there. It had me wondering if that had been what he had stepped out to do.
“Oh!” I let out with a slight gasp as he let me step before him. “So where are we off”
I was suddenly cut off by a slight, pinching sensation which was followed by an inexplicable drowsiness. I was falling to my knees before I knew it.
Right before I passed out, my vision blurred before I could look up to see the face of a strange woman who was smiling really wildly.
“Hello!” she said, just before I became unconscious. The blackness that followed was terrifying.
