ANNABELLA’S POV
Kelly was picked up by her sister on Sunday evening, who turned out to be the female Roman saved on the highway on the night of the heavy storm, and the surprising thing was she didn’t seem to be over Roman. I didn’t know how I knew she liked him but I was sure she did.
She didn’t look happy when Kelly introduced me as Roman’s mate.
To cut it short, Kelly and I said our goodbyes on Sunday, promising me she was going to reject Alpha Diago once she got back into the pack. I received a message from her after a few hours telling me Alpha Diago had accepted her rejection, and she wasn’t in good health.
I typed back and told her to get some rest. The bastard didn’t deserve her after all.
Soon, morning took over and it was Monday, and I had to report to school, which I wished I didn’t have to, especially when Roman was going on a run with Juliet under Carolina’s influence.
She said it would be good for her health and her memories. She advised taking her to familiar places, places she liked going to when she was in the pack.
Roman didn’t show up last night, and it wasn’t hard to assume where he was because I heard Juliet was discharged from the pack hospital last night. ” Madeline mentioned that you didn’t eat breakfast, do you want me to get you something on the way?” Zack asked but I shook my head, still looking out through the window. ” Roman is just….”
” I know.” I cut him, I wasn’t sure what he wanted to say. Anyways, wasn’t he going to say Roman was just concerned about Juliet?
Awwe!!!?
” What did you want to say?” I stared away from the window and I saw him looking at me in the review mirror.” It’s nothing.” He said and I sighed, annoyed. Maybe I deserve that for cutting him off while he was still speaking. I could have waited for him to finish saying whatever he wanted to say.
” Can I ask you something?” Zack asked, glaring at me from the review mirror.” Yes.” I didn’t know why he was asking permission, but I was all ears; I needed a distraction from all those thoughts running in my head.
Roman and Juliet, goddess!
” Why did you faint when you visited Juliet in the pack hospital?” The curiosity in his voice put me in a silent state as I thought hard about how to put what I saw into a simple sentence for him to understand. ” Her memories for the past few years,” I replied in a low tone as I felt a bit guilty for feeling how I felt.
I was jealous and a bit angry.
” Does Roman know about it?” He asked and I shook my head. ” Not as if he asked.” I scoffed feeling his gaze on me through the mirror as I threw my gaze back to the window.
” I think he needs time.” I didn’t comment on that maybe because I didn’t understand what he meant.
The car halted in front of the school building and II spotted Wade getting out of his car in his usual brown leather jacket and white shirt.” Roman doesn’t like him.” Zack tore from his seat and undid my seat belt to get out of the car.
” See you after school.” I started walking towards the building, ignoring Wade, who seemed to be waiting for me unless I was wrong.” Good morning, beautiful.” Eve rolled her eyes as Wade’s scent ran in the air at full speed as it hit us. “Your driver doesn’t seem to like me.” He said and I stopped before turning to look back only to see Zack staring at us.” Beta Zack, not my driver.” I shifted my gaze away from Zack and started on my heels.
” Well, sorry if that came out wrong.” He followed me. ” Well, you are right on one thing. He doesn’t like you.” I told him and he chuckled.
” Maybe he doesn’t, but that doesn’t matter to me.” his arrogant tone made me shake my head slightly.
” You don’t hate me do I’m okay.”
” Nice guess.”
We walked into the building with the other students, and I went straight to my class without approaching my locker. Kelly has already sent my book to class.
” You look worked out.” Kelly commented as I took my seat at my usual spot in front of hers.” And you seem normal.”
” Wow, someone is pissed.”
Of course, I was pissed but why was I pissed? I sighed as I tried to arrange my emotions; there was no need to get jealous of her because she was just a sister to him.
I breathe in and out to calm my emotions, which I guess worked.
” I’m sorry.” I pushed my hair back as I turned to look at her at the back.” It’s okay, just don’t let that bitch take away your happiness.” She advised.
Was she trying to take away my happiness?
I didn’t know any of it; all I cared about was she was getting too close to Roman, and I didn’t like it. Their closeness was bothering me and I hated to admit it.
” Get off me.”
” Tell that to Juliet.” She laughed.
The teacher came in, and the class was normal as usual, except that my attention was divided. Juliet’s memories kept flashing in my head at every little opportunity and it was very uncomfortable.
I didn’t know if I should tell Roman about it but what if he already knew? What if he knew his step-sister was forced to sleep with men for money?
I didn’t know what I was thinking anymore. One moment, I would hate her, and the other moment, I would feel sorry for her as if I liked her.
The bell soon went for lunch, and Kelly and I went to the cafeteria to grab something. Even though I wasn’t hungry, I still went to get myself busy.
With the whole group seated around the table, I could feel Florence’s gaze which I did my best to ignore because she was not worth the attention.
She was just a desperate female who was seeking the wrong attention; of course, Wade was busy staring at me like I was the only person in the cafeteria.
Poor Florence.
I wished she could see how pathetic she looked at the moment.
” You stayed the weekend at Bella’s?!” Kiran half yelled, her lips slightly parted and her eyes wide opened.” No, you can’t be serious.” She said turning her gaze to me as if expecting me to verify.” So did you get to see Alpha Roman?”
I was used to them saying his name as if he was the beast of the night. They all believed the rumor without proper verification, and I couldn’t blame them. I did believe it in the past until I got to know him.
Roman may be cold and strict from the outside but he was a good person. ” You mean, Bella’s mate?” Kelly shifted in her seat with a smile, and when I snapped out of my thoughts, I found the whole group staring at me, including Wade Jackson, ” So it’s true?” John asked in a low tone. “It’s your problem if you don’t believe me.” Kelly shrugged.” He is good-looking, the most handsome man I have ever seen.” she poured with a bright smile.
My gaze met that of Wade, he didn’t have any reaction on his face.
