ANNABELLA’S POV
” Where is Roman?” I asked as I stared around the huge room I was well familiar with.
” You fainted.” Kelly’s voice pulled me out of my search, and I turned my head to my left, where I saw her sitting beside the bed.” Are you okay?” she asked with a worried expression, and I nodded, swallowing the knot in my throat.
I caught feeling the dryness of my throat and the sting of pain that came after.
” You should rest for now,” Kelly advised but I wasn’t going to go back to sleep. ” What are you up to?” Kelly tried to scold me as I pushed my legs out of the bed cover and set them on the clean marble floor.” Bella, don’t you think you are going a bit too far?” I could imagine the frown on her face but I didn’t barge. Not as if I was sick or something; it was just a flash of her memories, her life, including all the stuff she went through for the past years.
I couldn’t believe I had to see all that just by touching her.
‘ Sorry for putting you through that.’ Eve’s guilty tone made me sigh internally as I immediately guessed what happened. She was the one who initiated it, she fucking entered her mind and pulled out those horrible memories.
‘ Great, Eve.’ I sighed as I held my head, it was hurting like hell, and I cursed Eve for taping into her memories. I must say, Juliet has gone through hell, if not the worst. How did she survive all that? How the hell did she manage to pull through all those things and appear as beautiful as she was?
Sex with different men couldn’t be pleasing.
Her memories were nothing close to the princess life she was supposed to live.
A whore?
How could someone be this horrible in compelling a young girl into such a horrible life? I saw how she was forced to sleep with different men in the night house she was working at; I also saw how she was tossed around by men like a rag and how she also had to please men to get paid.
It seems her life from the past few years was nothing other than misery and dissatisfaction.
” The doctor advises you to rest.”
” I’m okay,” I assured her even though she didn’t seem to believe me. ” I think Alpha Roman has gone to check on her.”
” Juliet?” I asked with a little bit of discomfort in my chest.
No matter how I tried to sympathize with her, I still couldn’t stand her being close to my mate, be it her brother or the alpha of the Turners pack.
” Aren’t you worried?” Kelly asked, walking behind me as I strode out of the room. It was almost dark outside, which meant I had slept for hours.
I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water from the freezer and a drinking glass. ” I saw her memories.” I said as I poured myself a glass of water before raising my head to look at Kelly, who seemed unusually quiet.” Aren’t you going to say anything?” I placed the glass back on the table after gulping down half of the water in it. ” How is that possible?” She asked and I bit on my bottom lip. ” I guess it is.” I sighed grabbing the glass for a sip.
” Wait, is your wolf real?” She asked with a curious look in her eyes as she stared at me, waiting for my reply..” Yes, Eve is real.” I replied and her eyes widened in shock. ” A royal wolf in this era? Wow, this is like the best news I have heard in years.” She exclaimed with her shocked face replaced with excitement. ” How long have you known, and why am I finding it out now?” I shrugged. ” I guess this is the most stupid question you have heard in a while.”I laughed and she rolled her eyes.
” How come I didn’t think of it?” she hit her head slightly, and I laughed again, sliding the glass in between my lips and taking a sip.
” I don’t know much about royal wolf but I don’t mind finding out.” she winked at me and shook my head.
” Let’s see what the world has to say about your special wolf.” She pulled her phone from her pocket and started typing something that I wasn’t sure about.
” Here it comes. ” She stared at me with her excited gaze.” It says here that royal wolves have gone in an extinction centuries ago, but here I’m staring at one.” She stared up from her phone and sighed. I thought I would freak her off but it seems telling her was rather a relief. ” So aside from tapping into others” memories, what else can you do?” She seemed fascinated by the news more than I anticipated. ” Taping into the past I guess.”
” Wow. that is cool.”
” It says here that royal wolves are incredibly strong and fast with unimaginable stamina, but they have a dark history.” She added in a small tone. ” What dark history?” I asked I wasn’t sure what she meant, but it was my first time hearing this.
” Pain to their love once.” Madeline’s voice resounded and both Kelly and I turned our heads. ” For centuries, their present has brought nothing to the world other than pain and misfortune. At least, that is what the community thinks. They were mostly used by power-hungry alphas, and at the end, they became vulnerable and died just like the last one before one.”
” Hence, royal wolves aren’t welcome in the werewolf communities because of their bad records over the past centuries.” She added, and I felt myself go numb. ” Alpha hunts them, and while some kill them to protect their packs, others keep them for personal achievement. Most alphas thrive on your strength and incredible powers.”
” So are you saying Bella is not safe?” Kelly asked and Madeline shook her head. ” That is not what I meant, Bella is safe here. Alpha Roman won’t let any harm come to her.”
