Chapter 599: Madeline’s Grand Aspirations Within Flynn’s Reach

Before long, the foot of Cloudgate Mountain was packed with people, over a thousand strong.
“Mr. Howe, what’s happening here?” Madeline quickly approached Mr. Howe as soon as she saw him.
She didn’t believe what Flynn had told her and wanted to get the details from Mr. Howe.
“God of War Cruz and Heavenly King Yves have ordered us to clean up the aftermath, but as to what exactly happened, we’re not sure.”
“Heavenly King Yves?” Molly was visibly shocked, her eyes reflecting a storm of surprise.
The Heavenly King of the Nation, wielding an army of three hundred thousand!
The Greater Sovereign!
A titan of overwhelming power!
He had actually come to Niarak!
Madeline trembled with astonishment.
The Heavenly King of the Nation was the idol of thousands of young girls!
The man of their dreams, the one they all wished to marry!
Including Madeline.
Of course, she could only dream.
For at the level of the Heavenly King of the Nation, who would have been a prince in ancient times, someone like Madeline from her social class was like looking up at the dazzling sun without even the right to gaze upon it.
Not to mention marrying him, even to be one of his concubines would bring honor to her family.
Even a maid from the Wilcox family, when seen outside, would earn high regard from the heads of powerful families!
Now, one of the Heavenly Kings of the Nation had come to a small place like Niarak?
Incredible!
It was said that Heavenly King Yves was only 30 years old, strikingly handsome, a modern-day Lu Bu.
He had made it onto the Ostrad Hidden Dragon Ranking at eighteen, a peerless prodigy, born for the grand stage.
How wonderful it would be to see him just once!
And to dream a bit bigger, if she could speak just a word with him, Madeline would be thrilled for years.
Alas, Madeline was far from qualified, not even to catch a glimpse from afar.
Compared to General Yancey, Madeline was but a speck of dust, no matter how beautifully carved, she would not catch his eye.
The women of a heavenly king were at least princesses of the royal family, daughters of super-gatekeepers, or daughters of key political figures from the Imperial Center.
“Since Heavenly King Yves ordered them to clean up, everything that happened at Cloudgate Mountain must have been caused by General Yancey and God of War Cruz.”
“Flynn taking this upon himself is just clownish!” Madeline scoffed, full of disdain.
Molly frowned and murmured, “Could it be that Maximo caused such a stir that it boiled over into public outrage, enough to anger General Yancey and God of War Cruz?”
Madeline nodded, “Exactly, God of War Cruz was returning home for an ancestral ceremony and invited General Yancey as a guest to Niarak.”
“Little did they expect, upon arriving at Niarak, to hear news of six thousand bandits gathering here. Naturally, General Yancey and God of War Cruz wouldn’t let Maximo and the others off easily.”
“Miss George, you haven’t spent much time with Flynn to understand what kind of person he is.”
“Flynn is all about keeping up appearances, pandering to the crowd, eloquent, only capable of endless deceit.”
“He has no real skills, just a knack for talking, likes to boast in front of girls to gain their favor for unspeakable objectives.”
“Don’t be fooled by him.”
“Not to mention killing over a thousand from the Eight Extremities School, Flynn probably doesn’t even have the courage to approach Cloudgate Mountain.”
“If not for sheer luck, he would have completely lost face today.”
In Madeline’s eyes, Flynn was worthless, less than garbage.
Ha, just four hours ago he was all bravado, talking of killing this one and that.
Probably hid himself away as soon as he heard Maximo had attracted six thousand cultivators!
Now that General Yancey has wiped out Maximo and his cohorts, he’s out making noise again.
What a clown, indeed!
Molly’s eyebrows knit together tightly.
Madeline’s opinion of Flynn, she did not share, believing despite his flaws, Flynn had genuine talent.
Nobody’s perfect, after all.
That’s understandable.
Especially for someone like Flynn, who had spent time in prison and desperately sought recognition, exaggerating his own abilities to be respected, it was somewhat excusable.
When jokes are taken too far, there’s no need to belittle someone like that.
Especially since Madeline was Flynn’s ex-wife, speaking so disparagingly of Flynn seemed a bit excessive.
Yet Molly agreed with Madeline’s conjecture, feeling that Flynn had nothing to do with the events unfolding here.
A flicker of disappointment crossed her eyes.
How wonderful it would have been if Flynn was responsible for everything-Greater Sovereign that he is! Just a few tricks from him could benefit one for half a lifetime.
Alas, that was merely a beautiful dream…
Nonetheless, Flynn’s achievement in reaching the pinnacle of a Grandmaster was still quite remarkable.
After all, prodigies like Yves don’t come around often in Ostrad-only once in three hundred years.
It wasn’t fair to compare Flynn with General Yancey; they weren’t even in the same league.
One must be content with what they have.
Having met Flynn, a Grandmaster at his peak, Molly felt her trip to Niarak was worthwhile after all.
And today, she finally had the chance to confront Cruz in person.
Thinking this, Molly approached Cruz’s personal guard and asked:
“May I see the God of War?”
The captain of the guard, imposing in demeanor, responded: “Miss, what business do you have with our general?”
Molly hurriedly replied: “The King of Poison, on someone’s orders, annihilated our entire George family.”
“Recently, God of War Cruz killed him, and I wanted to ask if the King of Poison left any clues before he died.”
The guard’s expression darkened, and he said displeasedly: “Are you out of your mind? Who told you our general killed the King of Poison?”
“He’s been in Bingford all year; where would he find the time to kill the King of Poison?”
“Our general may be a Great Grandmaster, but he’s no god capable of being in Niarak and Bingford at the same time!”
“What?” Molly, shocked, exclaimed: “God of War Cruz hasn’t been to Niarak this year? Wasn’t he always helping Rose?”
The captain snorted coldly: “The general does indeed return to Niarak once or twice a year, but military duties kept him too busy to visit this year.”
“And military investigations have already cleared his name; I don’t need to explain further.”
“Please stop spreading these baseless rumors.”
With that, he left Molly standing there, stunned, and headed towards the summit of Cloudgate Mountain.
His entourage followed.
“How can this be, how can this…” Molly clenched her fists and bit her lip, muttering in frustration.
So much time wasted, enduring hardship at Orco Real Estate, serving Flynn and tolerating his treatment.
And all for nothing.
Cruz had nothing to do with it?
Seeing Molly’s distress, Madeline shook her head and said with a bitter smile: “Miss George, he didn’t deceive you. The recent events in Niarak had nothing to do with God of War Cruz.”
“It was Mr. Fletcher of the Eahtathe Fletcher family who’s behind Ms. Sharp.”
“Nathan? But his martial arts skills are even inferior to mine, how could he have killed the King of Poison?” Molly felt bewildered, her heart sinking.
She didn’t care about who was helping Rose; she just wanted to know who had killed the King of Poison at Energence Pharmaceuticals.
Brady had once said that Flynn killed the King of Poison.
Molly didn’t believe it, but now it seemed likely that it was indeed Flynn who had done it.
But to crush a Grandmaster with one slap, one had to be at least a Martial Arts Great Grandmaster.
Could it be that Flynn was not just a Grandmaster peak, but a Great Grandmaster?
Molly gasped in shock, stunned by the revelation.
This old rogue was indeed a treasure!
Right, where was that paper he gave me? That was valuable!
Excited as if she had obtained a secret martial arts manual, Molly reached into her pocket.
Even if Flynn wasn’t a Greater Sovereign, being a Great Grandmaster was still a pleasant surprise.
But in the next second, her smile froze.
Hmm?
Where was the paper?
How could it be gone?
Boom!
Molly’s heart sank heavily, her face turning pale instantly.
