Rhett quickly grasped Leo’s hand and said, “Dr. Leo, it’s really you! Just do your best with the detoxification; don’t put too much pressure on yourself.”
Nicholas, hearing Leo’s modest words, thought Leo was deliberately being evasive due to his previous experiences with the Bloomer family. He couldn’t help but interject, “Dr. Leo, if anyone from the Bloomer family has offended you, I apologize on behalf of the family.”
“Furthermore, regardless of whether you can cure my son today, I, Nicholas, promise in front of everyone here that the Bloomer family owes you a favor. In the future, if you need any help, just ask. The Bloomer family will go through fire and water for you!”
Nicholas’s words stunned everyone present, changing their expressions.
It was well known that although Nicholas had retired, he still wielded considerable influence.
In simple terms, Nicholas’s promise carried significant weight not just in the capital but throughout Atraria.
Leo responded with a calm smile, “Old Mr. Bloomer, you don’t need to promise me anything. Some people, even if they die in front of me, I wouldn’t spare them a glance; others, even if they are strangers to me, I would lend a hand.”
Turning to Rhett, Leo said, “Director Thornton, open the door to the ward. Let me examine his condition.”
Rhett immediately had staff bring medical gloves and a mask for Leo before opening the ICU door and leading him inside.
Jackson lay on the bed with a breathing mask on his face. His complexion was somewhat darkened, his breathing weak, and his heart rate low.
His upper body was wrapped in numerous bandages, some of which were stained black-red by oozing blood.
The darkened blood and his complexion indicated poisoning from a traditional doctor’s perspective.
Leo frowned slightly and, after a moment of contemplation, said to Rhett, “Director Thornton, please remove one of the bandages from his wounds so I can take a look.”
Rhett carefully unwrapped the bandage on Jackson’s right arm.
Once fully unwrapped, a wound over ten centimeters long was revealed on Jackson’s arm.
The wound was clearly a knife cut that had been stitched up.
Additionally, the skin around the wound was blackened and seemed to be spreading outward.
“Dr. Leo, can you tell what kind of poison this is?” Rhett asked nervously.
Leo didn’t answer directly but instead asked, “Are the other wounds on his body similar to this one on his right arm?”
“Yes, the other wounds vary in size but visually look the same as this one.”
Leo nodded and said, “I’m not completely confident I can cure him, but I’ll do my best.”
Rhett was overjoyed and excitedly praised, “Dr. Leo truly deserves to be called Atraria’s top traditional doctor; only you could handle such a rare poison!”
Leo found it somewhat amusing that Rhett, a staunch modern doctor, had somehow become one of his biggest fans.
Seeing Leo’s serious expression, Rhett quickly composed himself and asked, “Dr. Leo, is there anything you need me to do during your treatment?”
“After my needlework is done, I’ll prescribe some medicine. Have someone prepare it according to my prescription and give it to him three times a day,” Leo instructed.
“Understood, Dr. Leo.” The vice president of Harmony Hospital now acted like an apprentice in front of Leo.
He had no choice but to be respectful; if Jackson died at Harmony Hospital, it would ruin the hospital’s reputation and bring trouble for Rhett himself.
Leo took out his Golden Dragon Silver Needle and performed the Nine Extreme Mystical Needles technique with the aid of Spiritual Power to treat Jackson.
During the needlework, Leo was pleasantly surprised to find that his Spiritual Power could not only control the spread of toxins in Jackson’s body but also help eliminate them.
Although effective, the detoxification process was slow.
An hour passed before Leo emerged from the ICU.
The anxious crowd outside immediately surrounded him.
“Dr. Leo, how is Jackson?” Nicholas asked eagerly, his old eyes filled with hope despite his anxiety.
Leo replied directly, “I’ve mostly cleared the toxins from his body. Continue giving him the prescribed medicine for half a month. After that, I’ll perform needlework again, and he should fully recover.”
Given Jackson’s severe injuries and weakened state, Leo opted for a gentle treatment approach rather than a rapid cure.
Nicholas and the others felt relieved by Leo’s words.
Though happy inside, they maintained their composure; after all, lives were at stake and time would prove Leo’s words true or false.
Naima stood at the outer edge of the crowd. Hearing that Leo had treated Jackson successfully made her face darken. She exchanged a displeased look with her husband.
To Naima and her husband, another death in the Bloomer family meant more inheritance for them; they didn’t care if it was her own brother who died.
Xavier exclaimed joyfully, “I knew it! As long as my brother steps in, my uncle will be fine!”
Xavier’s words made the officers present suspicious once more.
Jason had clearly stated earlier that Leo had no connection with the Bloomer family. So why was Xavier calling him brother so affectionately?
Noticing everyone’s expressions, Jason’s face darkened. He turned sharply to Xavier and said coldly, “Xavier, stop shouting nonsense! How can you call Dr. Leo your brother?”
“As long as Dr. Leo doesn’t mind, Xavier can call him whatever he wants!” Nicholas interjected meaningfully while glancing at Jason. “Young people have their own ways; don’t interfere as an elder.”
Though displeased inside, Jason could only comply respectfully. “Yes, Dad.”
At the same time, Jason felt uneasy. After all the effort he had put into convincing his father after that paternity test result came out, could his father’s attitude be changing because Leo saved Jackson?
