In the Bloomer family, although Jason was jealous of his father’s favoritism towards Jackson and the brothers did not get along well, Jason understood what Jackson meant to the Bloomer family.
It could be said that Jason and Jackson were the two pillars supporting the vast Bloomer family; losing either one would be disastrous.
Deep down, Jason did not want anything to happen to Jackson.
Jenna stood quietly on the side, listening to Nicholas and Jason’s conversation. When she heard the words “incurable,” her face turned pale, and tears rolled down like broken pearls.
Nicholas shook his head in pain and said sorrowfully, “Harmony Hospital researched this poison eight years ago but has yet to find an effective treatment.”
These words extinguished the last glimmer of hope in everyone’s hearts. If Harmony Hospital couldn’t cure the poison after eight years of research, it truly deserved the term “incurable.”
After a moment of despair, Jason asked unwillingly, “Dad, you said Harmony Hospital researched this poison eight years ago. Does that mean someone was poisoned by it back then?”
“Yes, the person poisoned was a hero. He also received treatment at Harmony Hospital eight years ago,” Nicholas said, recalling the past with pain.
“And that person… in the end…” Jason couldn’t finish his sentence.
Nicholas gently shook his head, the despair in his old eyes evident.
Jason opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came out.
Jacob, standing behind Jason, couldn’t listen any longer. He gritted his teeth and said loudly, “I don’t believe there’s an incurable poison in this world. I can’t just watch Jackson die! If Harmony Hospital can’t cure him, we’ll take him abroad for treatment!”
“Jackson is not in immediate danger!” As Jacob finished speaking, a slightly plump figure hurried over. “Jackson is suffering from a chronic poison; he can hold on for at least three months!”
The slightly plump man was Rhett Thornton, the deputy director of Harmony Hospital.
Hearing Rhett’s words, Jacob’s pent-up anger erupted. He grabbed Rhett by the collar and shouted angrily, “What’s the point of holding on for three months!? I want you to cure Jackson completely! Isn’t Harmony Hospital the best hospital in the capital? How can you not even cure a poison after all these years!?”
“Jacob!” Jason scolded, pulling Jacob’s hand off Rhett’s collar. He then apologized to Rhett, “Thornton, my third brother is just anxious. Please don’t take it to heart.”
Rhett shook his head helplessly. “I’m anxious too. Over the past eight years, our hospital has been trying to overcome this strange poison, but all attempts have failed.”
“Thornton, have you consulted other hospitals at home and abroad?” Jason asked.
Rhett nodded. “Of course we have. Renowned medical institutions like the United States Medical Research Society and the European Medical Research Society are also at a loss with this strange poison.”
Rhett’s words almost extinguished any hope left in everyone, making the atmosphere even heavier.
Jason clenched his fists, his steps unsteady, and muttered in pain, “Is heaven really going to take my brother away…”
Rhett hesitated for a moment and said, “There is always a way out. Perhaps we can try another approach.”
“What approach? Thornton, do you have any ideas?” Jason asked urgently upon hearing Rhett’s words.
Everyone else also looked at Rhett with hopeful expressions.
Jenna wiped her tears and instinctively moved closer to Rhett, not wanting to miss a single word.
“All along, we’ve been researching this strange poison using modern medicine methods without any breakthrough,” Rhett said. “I think we might find a solution if we approach it from traditional medicine.”
“Thornton, are you saying Atrarian traditional medicine can save Jackson?” Jason’s gloomy mood immediately turned excited.
But Rhett shook his head and said, “It’s not that Atrarian traditional medicine can save Jackson, but there might be a traditional doctor who can.”
“A traditional doctor? Who is it?” Jason asked eagerly.
Without hesitation, Rhett said solemnly, “His name is Leo from Langstel. He runs a clinic called ‘Nameless Clinic.'”
“I personally believe he represents the highest level of Atrarian traditional medicine and is Jackson’s only hope. You might consider inviting him from Langstel.”
Rhett highly recommended Leo because he had witnessed Leo teaching an arrogant Goryeo a lesson at a traditional doctors’ seminar and saw him defeat Seung Kim, known as the pinnacle of Korean Medicine.
Rhett had hurried over and didn’t notice Leo’s presence in the crowded corridor, so he suggested Jason invite Leo.
After hearing Rhett’s words, Jason felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him on a cold day. He subconsciously looked in Leo’s direction and asked incredulously, “Thornton, are you serious?”
Jason knew Leo had made a name for himself in Korean Medicine competitions but was still skeptical about Leo’s medical skills due to his resistance to Leo’s presence. He didn’t dare or want to believe Rhett’s words.
“Of course it’s true. I can guarantee it with my reputation!” Rhett said confidently.
Leo couldn’t help but smile upon hearing Director Thornton’s high praise for him.
Rhett’s suggestion rekindled Nicholas’s hope. He quickly said, “Thornton, Dr. Leo is right here!”
“Really? Where is Dr. Leo?” Rhett asked excitedly as he looked around for Leo.
Jenna’s sorrowful heart filled with joy. She looked at Leo with anticipation and relief, grateful she had followed Xavier’s advice to bring Leo from Langstel.
Leo walked up to Rhett and smiled. “Director Thornton, you flatter me. I can’t guarantee I can cure the second master of the Bloomer family.”
In traditional medicine, it’s wise to leave room for uncertainty. There are many strange illnesses in this world; even as a Cultivator, Leo couldn’t guarantee to cure all ailments.
