Ding-a-ling! Suddenly, Seraphina’s phone rang. After she hung up, her expression soured. She turned to Chris Shelby and said, “Mr. Shelby, I need to return to Middleton for a bit.”
Upon hearing that Seraphina was finally leaving, Chris Shelby felt a surge of joy. Since Seraphina’s arrival, he had been living a miserable life. He couldn’t take it any longer. However, he couldn’t show his true feelings.
Chris Shelby feigned reluctance and said, “Seraphina, you just arrived a few days ago, and now you’re leaving? I truly hate to see you go. Why don’t you stay a few more days?”
Esther and Juliette exchanged strange glances at Chris Shelby upon hearing this.
Seraphina laughed and replied, “Mr. Shelby, do you really hate to see me go that much? If that’s the case, then I shall stay here on the East Coast.”
“I…” At that moment, Chris Shelby wished he could slap himself. Seeing his distressed expression, Seraphina burst into laughter.
“Mr. Shelby, you clearly can’t wait for me to leave, yet you ask me to stay. Men’s words can indeed be deceiving!”
Uh? Chris Shelby’s face turned a shade of awkward embarrassment. Having his true feelings exposed by Seraphina left him speechless.
After a moment, Seraphina’s tone turned serious. “Mr. Shelby, something major has happened in Middleton, and I must go back!”
Chris Shelby was aware of Seraphina’s identity as a top secret agent of the palace. If she claimed that something significant had occurred, then it must be serious.
Chris Shelby quickly explained, “Seraphina, you misunderstood, I really didn’t want you to leave.”
“Enough! Mr. Shelby, no need for explanations!” Seraphina stood up and said, “It’s urgent. I’m going to book a flight right now. I’m leaving the East Coast today!”
“Ah!” This time, it was Chris Shelby who was shocked; he hadn’t expected her to leave so suddenly.
Seraphina leaned in and whispered in Chris Shelby’s ear, “Mr. Shelby, my father told me that you should visit Middleton if you get a chance!”
Curious, Chris Shelby asked, “Master, did he mention what it’s about?”
Seraphina shook her head. “I don’t know, but you’ll find out once you get to Middleton.”
Turning to Esther and Juliette, Seraphina said, “Esther, Juliette, thank you for your hospitality these past few days. If you ever find yourselves in Middleton, be sure to come see me. I’ll show you around.”
Esther smiled and replied, “Sure!”
Although Esther said this, she didn’t really like Seraphina. Now that Seraphina was leaving, Esther felt a sense of relief.
Soon, Seraphina left as abruptly as she had arrived. After her departure, Chris Shelby couldn’t help but remember her parting words about visiting Middleton. He wondered why his master wanted him to go there. Unable to figure it out, he eventually stopped thinking about it.
After Seraphina left, Chris Shelby’s life returned to its usual leisurely pace. Meanwhile, Seraphina, who was supposed to head back to Middleton, suddenly appeared in the suburbs of the East Coast.
Driving a car, she stopped in a desolate area.
Whoosh! Suddenly, a figure rushed towards her.
“Captain!” A woman dressed in black approached Seraphina with a respectful expression.
Seraphina, with a stern face, said, “Speak. What’s so urgent that you needed to see me?”
Seraphina had never left the East Coast, nor had she considered returning to Middleton. She had merely received an urgent call, requiring her presence, so she had concocted an excuse to leave. A woman, with a grave expression, spoke, “Recently, a highly dangerous prisoner escaped from the Middleton Obsidian Citadel, and we tracked him here, resulting in a confrontation.”
“This man’s strength was overwhelming; we were no match for him. Several of our people were killed. We heard that the captain was here, so we reached out to you!” This woman was none other than a member of Phoenix Thorne, a highly secretive organization directly under the control of the Amerosia Palace. And Seraphina was the captain of Phoenix Thorne.
“Obsidian Citadel?” Upon hearing this, Seraphina’s pupils contracted sharply. The Obsidian Citadel was Amerosia’s most dangerous prison, housing the most perilous criminals.
Seraphina inquired, “Who is this person who escaped from the Obsidian Citadel?” The woman shook her head, “We don’t have his full name; we only know he is an SSS-level extremely dangerous criminal, known by the codename Shura!”
“Shura!” At this, Seraphina let out an involuntary scream. How could she not know the name Shura? Three years ago, Shura had been the underground overlord terrorizing the entire eastern region of Amerosia. His hands were stained with blood, and he had even directly challenged the Amerosia government, attempting to establish his own dominion. Amerosia could not tolerate such actions.
Thus, Amerosia’s Master William had dispatched the legendary Chris Shelby to the eastern region to capture Shura. That battle had reportedly turned the entire eastern region upside down. Ultimately, Chris Shelby had captured Shura, confining him within the Obsidian Citadel. Unbelievably, three years later, Shura had escaped!
Seraphina’s gaze involuntarily turned towards Cloud Bay. Shura had escaped and had arrived at the East Coast. Could he be seeking revenge against Chris Shelby? If so, the entire East Coast would be thrown into turmoil!
Seraphina asked, “Have you contacted the East Coast patrol office about this matter?” The woman gave a bitter smile, “Captain, as you know, we are a secret agency of Amerosia and unless absolutely necessary, we avoid contacting local law enforcement to keep complications at a minimum.”
Phoenix Thorne, under the jurisdiction of the Amerosia Palace, was tasked with handling situations beyond the capabilities of regular departments.
Each member of Phoenix Thorne was a woman of extraordinary strength. Interestingly, the Obsidian Citadel was not originally built by Amerosia. It was constructed in a previous dynasty to detain those who opposed it. After the establishment of Amerosia, the Citadel was reactivated.
The Obsidian Citadel, housing extremely dangerous criminals of the worst kind, was a fortress deeply embedded underground, surrounded by a defense that could be described as ironclad. Moreover, a hundred thousand troops were stationed around it. Shura’s escape from the Obsidian Citadel was a testament to his formidable capabilities.
Seraphina, her face stern, demanded, “Show me Shura’s file!”
“Yes!” Without hesitation, the woman handed over the documents. Shura, real name unknown, from Amerosia’s eastern region, was once an underground overlord there. Three years ago, he was defeated and captured by Amerosia Primus Chris Shelby…
