“Ah!” Amy exclaimed, visibly shocked. The Chester Group was a leading company on the East Coast, and countless people dreamed of working there. She hadn’t expected such an opportunity to come her way.
“I really can?” Amy said, her voice tinged with uncertainty. “I heard that Chester Group requires a certain educational level, and I haven’t even finished middle school…” She trailed off, unable to continue. Her lack of formal education had always been a source of deep insecurity.
Chris Shelby smiled lightly. “No worries, just come over, and I’ll arrange everything.”
“Thank you, uncle!” Amy didn’t know what else to say, having been accustomed to the coldness of the world. Ever since her mother fell seriously ill, she had faced much disdain. It wasn’t until she met Chris Shelby that she felt a trace of warmth in this harsh world.
“Alright, I must go now. Call me if you need anything.” With that, Chris Shelby gave his phone number to Amy and left the hospital.
After leaving, he called Juliette to discuss Amy’s situation. Juliette, now the Vice President of Chester Group, was the right person to handle this matter. Esther, the President, was too busy with her duties to attend to such details.
Upon hearing about Amy, Juliette immediately promised to help.
—
The next day, Amy stood at the entrance of Chester Group’s towering skyscraper, hesitating to step forward. The security guard at the door noticed her reluctance and approached with a wary expression.
“What are you here for? Do you know this is Chester Group, no loitering allowed!” the guard said sternly.
“I’m here to see Juliette,” Amy replied meekly.
“Juliette?” The guard was taken aback. Everyone knew Juliette was a Vice President at Chester Group and a key figure in the company. Moreover, she was known to have a strong relationship with President Esther, making her virtually untouchable within the company.
“What do you need with Ms. Juliette?” the guard asked curiously.
“A man named Chris Shelby sent me,” Amy explained.
At the mention of Chris Shelby, the guard was visibly startled. Chris Shelby was well-known throughout Chester Group; not only was he Esther’s husband, but he was also known as the ‘King of the East Coast.’
“Wait here, I’ll contact Ms. Juliette right away!” Not wanting to delay, the guard quickly made a call.
After speaking with Juliette, the guard led Amy inside. Soon, Amy was face-to-face with Juliette.
“Hello, my name is Amy!” she said, her voice nervous.
Juliette smiled and replied, “Your friend has already told me about you. Don’t worry, I’ve arranged an internship for you. You’ll be paid three thousand a month during the internship. Does that sound good?”
Amy’s face lit up with joy. She had never imagined she would earn three thousand a month as an intern, especially considering she had only made about two thousand a month working exhaustingly in a restaurant.
Amy nodded vigorously and said, “Yes! Yes!”
“Alright, I’ll have someone arrange a job for you.”
And just like that, Amy started working at Chester Group.
For Chris Shelby, Amy’s situation was just a minor matter; he didn’t care much about it.
After all, for a big shot like Chris Shelby, helping Amy was no more than a trivial effort.
Meanwhile, Chris Shelby received a call from Emily.
On the phone, Emily told Chris Shelby that she was leaving the East Coast.
Chris Shelby wished her a safe journey on the phone and told her never to come back to the East Coast and cause trouble.
Hearing Chris Shelby’s words, Emily clenched her teeth in anger on the other end of the phone.
Chris Shelby didn’t pay much attention to Emily’s departure from the East Coast.
At the same time, Ironheart Steer, the boss of Crazy Steer, had disappeared as if evaporated from the earth.
Chris Shelby didn’t pay much attention to the disappearance of Ironheart Steer.
Now that Crazy Steer had been destroyed and Ironheart Steer had become a homeless dog, Chris Shelby felt no threat from him anymore.
Thus, Chris Shelby returned to his leisurely life, frolicking with the girls in his mansion and then picking up Hope from school.
One day, Chris Shelby received a phone call.
He looked at his phone and stood up abruptly.
The caller was none other than Tiger, who had been missing for about a month.
Previously, Tiger had led the East Coast Guards to attack the Quartz Ridge headquarters, but they were ambushed by Quartz Ridge, and everyone, including Tiger, went missing.
Chris Shelby had led the Phoenix and Death Guards in search of Tiger, but to no avail.
Now, suddenly receiving a call from Tiger, Chris Shelby was very excited.
Tiger said, “Boss, after we were ambushed by Quartz Ridge, we were forced to flee into the great desert, and then we crossed the desert into another country, Atas. Just then, they sent a large army to invade Atas, and I received orders from the Amerosia troops to stay in Atas and help defend against the invasion.”
Hearing this, Chris Shelby was silent for a moment before saying, “Tiger, bring the East Coast Guards back!”
Chris Shelby was happy to hear that Tiger and the East Coast Guards were still alive.
But the thought of Tiger and his men staying in Atas worried him.
Chris Shelby knew Atas well, known as the crossroads of the central plains, a place of strategic military importance historically.
For decades, it had been a battlefield, previously fighting against the Polar Bear nation.
After driving out the Northwind Dominion, Atas had erupted into a civil war.
Now, it was embroiled in warfare again; the country was in constant turmoil.
It was too dangerous for Tiger and the East Coast Guards to stay in Atas.
After the incident with Quartz Ridge, Chris Shelby didn’t want the East Coast Guards to suffer any more harm.
Tiger took a deep breath and said, “Boss, I know you want what’s best for us, but we are all Amerosians. Since the Amerosia troops have given us orders, we cannot back down. Please support us.”
“Ah!”
Hearing this, Chris Shelby sighed helplessly and said, “Alright! If that’s the case, stay in Atas, but remember to be careful!”
Now, the East Coast Guards, having been through battles of blood and fire, were far stronger than before.
