Chapter 2338: Loving Someone is Too Exhausting

Book:Mr. Marsh's Twins Published:2024-10-27

In truth, Agnes had been feeling down for a long time. Even though the little cat had been gone for seven years and she had decided to give up waiting, he had left an indelible mark on her heart. Every time she thought of him, her heart ached. She tried to distract herself, to forget, and to mask her sadness with a smile. Yet Spencer noticed something was off. “Bubu, are you feeling down today?”
“Huh?” The girl quickly snapped back to reality and shook her head with a smile. “No, I’m fine.”
Only Summer truly understood what was going on in the young girl’s mind. She hugged her sister’s shoulder and covered for her. “Weddings always tend to be emotional, don’t they?”
“It feels like time flies and we’ve all grown up,” Agnes replied with a smile.
“Bubu, take a look at the details and give your sister some advice,” Spencer insisted on making the wedding perfect.
The wedding arrangements were already flawless, and the two girls couldn’t find any faults.
After leaving the wedding venue, Spencer took them to his villa where they had lunch together. He then showed them around the rooms.
Spencer said, “This master bedroom with great lighting is reserved for your parents. They should love it.”
“My parents?” Summer asked to confirm.
“Of course,” Spencer joked with a smile. “Do you think it’s for my parents?”
Summer suddenly felt a bit offended, but Spencer gently touched her cheek and asked with a smile, “What do you think? Does it pass your standards? The spaciousness, the lighting, the view? Your parents will definitely love it, right?”
“It’s great. Mom and Dad will definitely like it. Thank you for being so thoughtful.”
Spencer proudly said, “They say a son-in-law is half a son. Well, this son-in-law counts as two! They’ll live with us in the future; leave their retirement to me!”
Spencer added, “If the kids want to sleep with them in the future, this big bed can accommodate that too. There’s even room for a cradle.”
He was indeed very considerate.
Agnes felt that her brother-in-law was completely different from what she had read online. He wasn’t frivolous or arrogant; instead, he was incredibly thoughtful. He treated her sister well and cared for their family too; everyone could see that.
That night, after returning home and taking a bath, Agnes felt inexplicably low again. She sat at her desk holding Bubu and stared blankly at the computer screen. Her thoughts drifted back to her little cat.
Giving up would certainly leave regrets, but there was no point in holding on either. Agnes, do you really need this? Do you have to exhaust yourself?
She gently stroked the little cat in her arms and asked herself over and over again.
Unknowingly, she felt a pain in her chest and tears welled up in her eyes.
After some time had passed, she grabbed the mouse and logged into her social media account. A notification popped up about a reply from Mr. Cat that made Agnes’s heart skip a beat. She was stunned!
She doubted her eyes for a moment.
He replied?
The time was this morning!
Agnes quickly placed Bubu on the desk and excitedly opened the email-
“Hello Bubu, this is Little Cat. I received your 478 emails; I’m sorry for replying just now because I only saw them now. My social media account was hacked seven years ago, and I just managed to recover it by changing the password now. It was an honor to accompany you through that period of youth; I’m sorry for making you worry for seven years. I’m doing well; I wish you all the best.”
Agnes read the email content several times until her excitement gradually faded away. This person seemed so unfamiliar now.
He was alive; he just gave her a reason why he hadn’t replied.
He could see… he saw…
The girl suddenly felt anxious again; she thought he couldn’t see them, which is why she later expressed herself so freely.
But now…
After struggling internally for a long time, Agnes didn’t send him an email but posted a message instead-
“Sorry for bothering you during this time; I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble.”
