Adea
Of all the people he could have sent to help me, he chooses the person who bullied me as a teenager? Wait, I don’t know why I’m surprised. I am talking about Shane, my number one bully. What else was I expecting?
I wanted to scream at being face-to-face with this two-faced bitch again. I can’t even count how many times she pretended to hit my books down, bump into me so hard that I was shoved into the lockers, or just tripped me for no damn good reason.
The young Adea had cowered under her gaze and kept her head down in front of her. Goddess, maybe this was a blessing in disguise. Now, I had the chance to make things right, to make things better, to get a slice of revenge for all the shitty times I had to endure.
I bit the left side of my bottom lip to try and calm myself, to stop myself from reaching out and wringing her neck. It could have only been a little longer than a year since the last time I’d had to deal with Beka.
Beka looked as surprised to see me as I was to see her. Her eyes were the size of saucers and her eyebrows almost disappeared into her hairline. She still looked the same, she had beautiful blonde hair, a thick hourglass figure, and clear skin.
I remember wanting to be friends with her but she was always so hung up and obsessed with Shane. When she finally recovered from her shock she shook her head and headed over to the wardrobe. No greeting, no how have you been, no snarky remark either. I wasn’t even worth her time.
“I had heard that Shane had a new side piece that he brought home but I never would have thought it was you. I was so interested in seeing who could have been so special that he would call me in to get them ready for a little date. Imagine my surprise when I walk in and realize it’s the little slave,” Beka said in her holier than thou voice.
The old me would have kept her mouth shut but Beka didn’t know that I was no longer that person. I didn’t just lay down and take it, I wasn’t the pathetic little slave she remembered and I wasn’t going to pretend to be her now that I was back.
It wasn’t hard to see that she was not happy to see me here. It was easier to read her thoughts than she thought. That or she just didn’t care. Her gaze trailed down my body with disgust.
I was never any competition for her when it came to Shane but she always treated me as if I was always out to get him. When I remember Mavy making it pretty clear that Shane and Beka were together.
Now that I look at the situation I’ve found myself in. I realize an opportunity has presented itself. She used to be with Shane or maybe she still was if she was working in the packhouse.
That didn’t matter though, did it? She was called here to work, to help me get dressed for a date with her ex. I couldn’t help the satisfied smirk that spread across my lips. Oh, I was going to have fun with this.
She wasn’t who I was expecting but I wasn’t going to let this go. Raising my chin and Putting on my best bitchy voice, I poised my tongue to sound as sweet as honey yet dripping with poison.
“You’re surprised? I’m surprised, Beka. Imagine how I felt walking and realizing Shane still hadn’t taken out the trash. There are pesky flies in the air and,” I leaned forward smelling the air, “it reeks of whore.”
Beka’s eyes flashed at the same time that her canines extended. She was ready to strike and that was fine with me. She could try all she wanted. She took a step forward to try and intimidate me and I saw that as an opening.
I was on her in a second, her eyes were wide with shock as I glared at her. She was a little taller than me but that didn’t mean anything. My hand wrapped around her wrist and I squeezed so hard she flinched.
“And slave? Me?” I whispered. “You’re the only little slave I see here.”
“I don’t know who you think you are-,” Beka started.
“Oh, don’t worry your pretty little head about that. I know who I am. Do you? Because last I checked, I’m your figure Luna,” I said as I cut her off. Shoving her hand back, she glared at me.
“Now, why don’t you stop worrying about things that aren’t any of your business and get to work. Weren’t you sent here for a reason?” I asked. It wasn’t my finest hour and with the title of Luna, I should have known better than to be so petty. I couldn’t help it, the hurt teenager in me demanded I get some vengeance.
Beka glared at me, her eyes darting from me to the door. She sighed angrily and stomped towards the wardrobe. Turning around, she glared at me when she realized I hadn’t followed. I didn’t show that I noticed.
Instead, I stared at the wardrobe and crossed my hands in front of my chest. I took my time sliding my gaze across the selection of dresses and pretended to really mull it over. She huffed and put her hands on her waist.
“I’d like to try every single one of the red dresses that fall above the knee,” I said. “It’s too hot to wear anything too long.”
“Yes,” she said through gritted teeth.
“Oh, and Beka?” I asked. She didn’t answer but I had time. I waited until she turned to look at me when I didn’t continue. “It’s Luna.” I watched as she clenched and relaxed her jaw. Considering her words before opening her mouth.
“Yes, Luna.”
