Chapter 170
The news hit Jaxon hard. His face drained of color as he struggled to wrap his head around the truth that had just been revealed. It seemed impossible, unreal even.
How was it possible that she was alive? He had seen the evidence of her suicide, and even though he suspected that it was suspicious, he was not expecting this result.
“What are you talking about Damon? She committed suicide, you showed me the evidence!
How is this possible?” Jaxon asked in disbelief. He struggled to make sense of the whole situation.
“It’s all fake. I also couldn’t believe it at first but she is alive and well.” Jaxon knew something
was wrong somewhere.
“What happened? How did you come across her?” Jaxon asked.
“I don’t know what happened, I wanted you to interrogate her yourself. She is currently in my
custody.” Jaxon ran his hand through his hair. He groaned as he stared at Damon intensely.
“I need to see her. Take me to where you kept her.” Damon nodded his head.
Jaxon knew that something was wrong. The whole thing was fishy and he couldn’t wait to get to the bottom of it.
He had so many questions and only Serena had answers to them. He wanted to know everything that happened. Why she bailed on him and how the whole suicide was faked. He needed to know.
Ruby was in the kitchen with Keith. They were having an amazing time chatting as they waited
for the apple pie that they had made together to bake.
Ruby was seated on the counter as she ate pickles straight from the jar. Keith was having a great time as they happily chatted about anything and everything. He was standing beside her with his hands resting on the counter.
“Whatever happens I pray you don’t give birth to a child that is as stubborn and reckless as Jaxon. He was so problematic! I can’t count the number of times I received a call from the principal because he got into a fight… It was really tiring.” Ruby laughed as Keith recalled Jaxon’s high school years.
“Looking at him now, if I was hearing this from an outsider I wouldn’t believe them.” Ruby said and took a bite of her pickle.
“I’m surprised he grew up to be so responsible and composed. Nana and I were surprised by his growth.”
“I can see that you both can’t do without talking about me behind my back. ” Jaxon strolled into
the kitchen and Keith rolled his eyes.
Ruby smiled widely and made grabby hands towards him. Jaxon shook his head and walked
towards her. He stood in between her thighs and Ruby dropped the jar of pickles beside her.
She wrapped her hands around his neck and started to play with the hair on his nape.
“Are you okay?” Jaxon whispered.
“Couldn’t be better, I was having a blast with Grandpa! He taught me how to make apple pie and I can’t wait to taste it.” Jaxon smiled fondly as she spoke with a glint of joy in her eyes.
“That’s nice Gem. I’ll be going out with Damon to take care of some business.” Ruby tightened her hold around his neck and pulled him closer.
“Is there any problem?” Ruby asked worriedly.
“There’s nothing wrong Gem, we just need to check out something real quick.” Jaxon cupped
her face and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
Ruby smiled softly as he walked out of the room.

The car stopped in front of an old abandoned warehouse and the driver stepped down to open
the door for them. The bruising looked like it was about to crumble from outside.
The yellow paint was chipping off the wall and it had cracks.
Jaxon and Damon stepped out of the car and walked into the warehouse. The inside looked
nothing like the outside.
Two guards were standing by the door and they greeted them politely as they walked into the
spacious room. It was a large living room with so many doors lined up at the sides.
Damon led him to a brown door and the guard stationed at the door greeted them and pushed
the door opened for them.
Jaxon didn’t know what to feel as they walked into the dark room. Damon brought out his phone from his pocket and turned on the flashlight. He flashed the walls and pressed the light switch.
The room got illuminated by the light and Jaxon saw a lady sitting on the bed. She had her back
turned to them and she flinched when Damon turned on the light.
Jaxon motioned for Damon to walk up to her and he loftily tapped her shoulder. She turned around and Jaxon’s eyes widened in shock.
She looked nothing like the woman he knew. She looked like a shadow of her previous self, her face was filled with bruises, gone was the beautiful smooth face, her skin was a sickly blue and black color and her cheeks were swollen.
Her eyes looked haunted, it was filled with fear and Jaxon could imagine the pain and trauma
that she had passed through. Her hair was matted and tangled, Her lips are split and bloody, she had dried blood at the sides of her lips and Jaxon looked up at Damon.
Serena’s eyes started to glisten with tears and Jaxon glared at Damon as she started to cry.
Tears were streaming down her face.
Her body shook as she sobbed uncontrollably, her cries pierced the air like a knife, cutting through the silence and shattering the peace of the house.
Jaxon didn’t know what to do as she cried, he felt helpless, he didn’t know how to console her.
He angrily glared at Damon. He wondered why he had allowed his men to hurt her.
“What did you do to her? Why would you hurt her?” Jaxon angrily yelled at Damon. Damon
shook his head in denial.
“I didn’t do anything to her! We found her like this.” Damon quickly replied.
