Ruby was feeling so much better as she snuggled closer to Jaxon. She smiled at the warmth that was radiating off him and Jaxon smiled as he gently massaged her back.
He applied slight pressure in his palms as he massaged her sore muscles, and Ruby smiled at the soothing sensation; it felt so refreshing, and she wanted more.
“Do you like that?” Jaxon asked softly and Ruby moaned in reply. Jaxon smiled as he continued to work his hands on her back.
“It’s so nice, it makes me want to take a walk,” Ruby mumbled.
“Why do you want to take a walk out of nowhere?” Jaxon stopped what he was doing and tilted his head to the side.
“The weather feels right, I want to stretch my legs and breathe in some fresh air.” Ruby smiled happily as she sat up on the bed.
“Baby, your legs haven’t healed up completely; let’s just stay in bed, okay?”
Ruby’s smile morphed into a blank stare as she glared at Jaxon.
“I want to take a walk babe. Are you coming or not?” Ruby asked blankly.
“Fine, but you won’t go anywhere outside the house, it has to be within, and I won’t allow you to overdo it. Do you agree?” Jaxon asked and Ruby happily nodded as she tried to get off the bed.
Jaxon ran his hand through his hair and tsked as he hurriedly got down from the bed and helped her down slowly.
Ruby smiled as Jaxon wrapped his hands around her waist and supported her weight as they walked out of the room and made their way down the stairs.
Kim was sitting on the loveseat in the living room as she scrolled through the various series available when she heard the sound of footsteps.
Her face darkened when she looked up and saw the couple with happy smiles on their faces as they walked towards her.
She stood up and put a sweet smile on her face as they entered the living room.
“Where are you both going?” Kim asked with raised eyebrows and Jaxon halted his movements as he glared at her.
He felt irritated by just looking at her. He has always disliked Kim, but ever since Ruby got into that accident and broke her legs, he couldn’t even stand looking at her or hearing her voice anymore.
Everything about Kim was screaming fake and that alone annoyed him. He hated pretentious people more than anything.
“I want to take a walk around the garden, and Jaxon is helping me,” Ruby replied with a soft smile on her face.
“Yeah, I heard walking around will help you heal faster. How about we go together?” Kim replied.
“That won’t be necessary. I’m with her already so there’s no need.” Kim clenched her teeth in annoyance as she glared at how Jaxon tightened his hold around Ruby and pulled her impossibly closer.
“Yes Kim, maybe we can go together next time,” Ruby added with a sweet smile as Jaxon led her out of the room.
Ruby happily took in her surroundings as Jaxon helped her walk through the wide expanse of the house.
They walked through the garden and Ruby felt her insides melt as the sweet scent of different flowers wafted through the air.
She smiled as they passed through the arrays of daisies, roses, and daffodils that danced gracefully in the gentle breeze.
“When will your sister be leaving Gem?” Jaxon asked softly.
Ruby halted her steps and looked up at him.
“Why do you ask?” Ruby asked.
“It’s been two weeks, and she hasn’t said a word about moving out, so I was wondering about when she would leave.” Jaxon shrugged his shoulders and Ruby smiled sweetly.
She understood why Jaxon was asking and she was happy that he asked because she was also thinking about the same thing.
“She did say she will be staying for only two weeks. I will talk to her once we get back home. I know you are only enduring having a third party around the house because I insisted so much. I’m sorry.” Jaxon shook his head and pulled her into a hug.
“It’s okay, Gem; there’s nothing to apologize for.” Jaxon placed a soft kiss on her forehead and returned to their former position.
They continued their walk around the quiet garden, and once Ruby started to feel tired, they walked back into the house.
Jaxon helped her to lie down on the couch and went into the room to grab a blanket for her. He used it to cover her legs properly and disappeared into the kitchen to prepare a meal for them.
“Hey.” Ruby softly called out to Kim.
“What’s up? Do you need something?” Kim turned to face her.
“When will you be leaving? It’s been more than two weeks and you haven’t said a word about moving out.” Ruby said bluntly and Kim’s eyes widened as she wasn’t expecting those words from Ruby.
“I didn’t say anything because you had an accident and I wanted to stick around until you healed up nicely before I thought about leaving.” Kim swiftly said and Ruby smiled as she stared at Kim.
“I’m glad that you care about my well-being, but that shouldn’t be the reason why you should put your life on hold. Jaxon is here to take care of all my needs, and if he happens to go out, I have guards and maids with me. I’m okay, Kim; you can go to the apartment that Jaxon got for you.” Ruby softly said and Kim stared at her in contempt as she listened to her.
“I still want to be around to watch your progress. Give me one more week. I’m sure you’ll be fine by then, and I can happily go to my apartment then.” Ruby’s heart melted at that and she happily smiled as she nodded at Kim.
“Okay Kim, you can stay until I recover,” Ruby said and Kim smirked in victory.
