Ruby sighed sadly as she watched Jaxon leave. She missed him already. Why did he have to leave her behind?
Ruby hated being away from Jaxon but she knew it was necessary, he has so many responsibilities and she must help him complete them and not be the reason for him to get distracted and neglect his duties and work.
Ruby hated how mature she could be at times, she knew that if she had asked Jaxon to stay and work from home he would agree but she couldn’t be selfish.
She groaned as she stood up from the chair and turned to leave the dining area when Kim stopped her.
“Do you trust your husband?” Kimberly suddenly asked and Ruby turned with confusion clear on her face.
“I don’t understand,” Ruby replied.
“It is exactly what you heard. Do you trust your husband?” Kimberly repeated with a mischievous smile.
“Why won’t I trust him? He has never given me a reason not to. So yes, I trust Jaxon with my whole being.” Ruby replied with a sweet smile.
She felt like if there was a word that was stronger than trust then that would be what she would relate to Jaxon.
Why wouldn’t she trust him when he placed her well-being above anything else?
Why won’t she trust the man who will choose to be uncomfortable rather than reject her request?
“Then you must be a bigger fool than I initially thought you were.” Kim deadpanned.
“Excuse me?” Ruby felt offended by Kim’s words. The question in itself was rubbish and then she dared to insult her straight to her face in her own house.
“You heard me right. What on earth made you believe that you could trust him? He is a business man for goodness sake! He is the hottest businessman around. Everyone wants a piece of him and he goes around the world all the time, don’t you suspect he has another family or multiple women he is in a relationship with?” Kimberly said calmly and Ruby stared at her with her eyes widened in disbelief.
“Are you sure you are okay? You didn’t trip in the bathroom and hit your head on the wall or something?” Ruby was not finding it funny anymore.
It looked like Kim was trying to bring back her insecurities but why would she do that? Did she not want her to be with Haxon? Is that why she insisted on living with them?
“You can say whatever you want but I just want to open your eyes to the truth. You can’t trust him blindly just because he is being all loving with you. I’m telling you this for your well-being.” Kim said in a fake caring tone.
“You should have told yourself this when you decided to get involved with Damon, where was your smart, all-knowing brain when you made that decision?” Ruby angrily asked.
Kimberly flushed in embarrassment and anger when Ruby reminded her of her mistake.
“That’s why I’m telling you this so you don’t repeat the same mistake that I made. Rich men tend to cheat a lot, Ruby, they have all the money and resources they need to lure women at their disposal.” Kimberly spoke with so much venom that Ruby could feel the hatred coming off her in waves.
“Can you please drop this topic? Where are all these words and accusations even coming from?” Ruby asked in disbelief.
“You were never that bright when it comes to men, Ruby. You can never fully trust a man. A man can decide to change or keep a hundred women around and you will never know. I have heard so many things about your husband and I don’t want you to fall victim.” Kimberly said sweetly and Ruby shook her head.
Her blood started boiling in annoyance. She felt that Kim was projecting the dirty image of her past mistakes and encounters on her husband.
“I think you should focus on yourself and away from my marital issues. I don’t want to hear anything negative regarding my husband ever again. The only reason why you are here today alive and well is because of his generosity. Respect him and don’t ever try to cross your boundaries, stay within the limits of a sister.
Don’t ever speak about my husband in that way again.” Ruby was fuming as she warned her and Kimberly watched her with wide eyes.
Kimberly was shocked.
She has always known Ruby to be soft-spoken and timid so how did this happen?
She had expected Ruby to curl up, cry her eyes out, and pack out of the house but gone was the gullible Ruby and in her place stood a confident woman who was strongly defending her husband.
Ruby angrily turned around and stomped back to her room. Kimberly watched her with a heated glare.
She felt like pulling her back by the hair and beating her into the pulp. Kim wished she could get rid of Ruby sooner.
After watching all that had transpired this morning it has become clear to her that the only way she could get Jaxon’s attention was if Ruby disappeared from the picture.
As long as Ruby was around her plan would never work and all her efforts would go to waste.
She felt jealous as she remembered how sweetly he held her and caressed her cheeks while they kissed. Kimberly felt like smashing something on the ground.
She needed to look for a way to make Ruby leave. Jaxon only had eyes for her and she was sure that he would keep ignoring her presence as long as Ruby was still around.
Kimberly sighed in annoyance as she played with her fingers. She had to do something about this and she had to do it fast. The more time she wasted the stronger their relationship would be, she better act fast.
She has always been a winner and this would not make a difference.
