There was satisfaction etched in Kim as the car drove to Jaxon’s house. Her plan was going just the way she wanted and she couldn’t have been happier.
There were a few times when she thought things wouldn’t go exactly as she imagined them, but she was glad those instances worked themselves out.
Kim knew that making that post and getting the paparazzi to go crazy was just a stepping stone for the main part of her plan. She had thought her plan through several times and knew that she would have to get Jaxon to like her if she was going to succeed.
She had to get pregnant for him one way or the other, Kim thought to herself.
Thinking about getting closer to Jaxon and actually doing were two completely different things.
Kim was sure that that would be a stumbling block when she stayed with them. She had her work cut out for her because the man didn’t even look at her, so talking to her was out of the question.
Kim had noticed that anytime she was in his presence, or really if anyone else was around him, Jaxon would be quiet and would not interact with her or anyone.
The only exception she noticed was when he was with Ruby, but Kim choked it up to being the fact he lived with Ruby and was naturally more inclined to talk to her.
Kim was sure that if she got that chance as well then she would have Jaxon wrapped around her finger. She had to make him like her, if not, leaking that photo would have been for nothing.
The car pulled up in front of the house and Kim fought to keep her mouth from dropping open. So this was where they lived? She didn’t even think it was supposed to be called a house, it was just too grand for that.
She scowled internally at the fact that this wasn’t the first place that was suggested when she needed to switch places for her safety. She knew there would be a bunch of empty rooms available so why did Ruby not offer for her to stay at the first chance?
She sneered inwardly at the thought that Ruby was enjoying all this. Ruby was busy living in a freaking mansion while she was left to rot away at some shared apartment complex.
How was that fair? Why should Ruby be the one to get all the things she wanted when she didn’t even deserve it? It’s not like Ruby cared about those kinds of things before.
She on the other hand wanted all these things, but she didn’t want them. She had to settle for asking Ruby for money which she absolutely hated.
She didn’t want to be a beggar or be seen as one. Not now or ever. And when she achieved her goals, she knew it would be all over for Ruby who was selfish and had been living her dream life all these months.
As Kim surveyed the house one more time, she vowed that she was going to take everything from Ruby.
Kim had turned her head at least five times when she stepped into the house.
If the house was impressive from the outside, it was even more beautiful on the inside. She loved how it was decorated but she could already imagine where her stuff would go when she moved in permanently.
She couldn’t believe Ruby had been living in this for months. She had been enjoying all this by herself without a second thought for those who cared for her before Jaxon.
Kim had been here for less than five minutes but she knew she was already going to love it here. It was a welcome contrast from the neighborhood where the apartment complex was.
“Welcome to our home,” Ruby told her as they left the foyer and moved further into the house. Home? Kim snorted intently, for now, Ruby. For now. Enjoy all these good things while you can because they’re only yours in the meantime.
Kim didn’t let any unpleasant emotion show on her face, instead, she forced a smile then said,
“Thank you.” She breathed out in the softest voice she could muster. When in reality, all she wanted to do was yell about why life wasn’t fair and why it always gave her the shortest stick.
“Let me show you to the room you’ll be staying in,” Ruby told her when they climbed up the stairs. They took another flight of stairs and then walked down a rather long hallway before Ruby stopped in front of the door. She watched Ruby pull out a key and unlock the door before she stepped aside to also let her in.
Kim’s breath halted in her throat as she took in the room. The room was huge. It was the size of a master bedroom and Kim wondered if it was or if all the rooms in the house were just as big.
There was a king-sized bed in the middle of the room with a rather large closet. She walked up to it and inspected it, and noticed that the closet was a semi walk-in though it was smaller than the ones she had seen.
The room had its own bathroom complete with a shower, a bath, a toilet, and whatnot. Just how she liked it.
“I hope you like your room,” Ruby who had stood silently all this time asked and she nodded absentmindedly.
“I do, it’s beautiful.” She told Ruby. She was sure that was the only genuine thing that had come out of her mouth since she got there.
“I’m glad.” Ruby smiled.
“So, you can make yourself comfortable and I’ll leave you to it. Let me know if you need anything.” Ruby added.
“Thank you, and I will.” She replied with a smile.
“See you later then,” Ruby said then turned around and left the room. Immediately she left and closed the door, and the smile that had been plastered on Kim’s face dropped.
She turned around and jumped on the bed with a loud sigh. So soft! She rolled in it for a moment and with a new fire of determination, she promised herself that she would get all the luxury for herself.
