Kim paced in her room like a soldier on a mission. She had had it, more than had it with Damon and the situation itself. She was worried too because Damon wasn’t as receptive as before.
This wasn’t how she envisioned her plan going during their last meeting. Her plans had definitely gone a few steps back which infuriated her. She and Damon had only met once since the fight and she had a sneaking suspicion that he was keeping her at arm’s length. And at the moment, she stared at her phone like it was the cause of all her troubles.
She had called Damon so many times in the past hour that it was a miracle she hadn’t been blocked yet. Some of the calls had gone through, others had gone straight to voicemail. She sighed deeply as she stared at her blank phone screen. He didn’t pick up. Again.
It was always a battle just to reach him on the phone and she disliked that fact. She didn’t know if he was purposefully ignoring her calls or simply that he wasn’t aware or wasn’t getting them.
She knew she would give him the heat for not answering the phone on time and keeping her waiting. That is, of course when he picked up she thought to herself.
She had been calling Damon non stop for over an hour, and when she finally heard the click which told her that the person at the other end had picked up, she almost jumped for joy. But that didn’t mean she was any less angry.
“What the hell Damon?! Why do you always take forever to answer the phone! I’ve been calling you for over an hour and almost tore my hair out when you wouldn’t pick up.” Kim fired at him without a pause. She was hella pissed and she knew it was quite evident in her voice.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” She demanded in an irritated tone when the line remained silent.
“I don’t know if this is clear to you but, the last time i checked, you aren’t my girlfriend. I don’t need to call you everyday because what is going on between us is casual. It couldn’t even be called a situationship in my opinion. Oh, and one more thing, watch your tone when you are talking to me.” Damon stated frankly through the line.
Kim’s blood boiled at Damon’s words. She knew very well that their relationship was casual but to say it wasn’t even up to the standard of a situationship was something else.
“But we do have something going on?” She insisted.
“We don’t. Get it through your head that sex is just sex.” He replied and she thought he sounded bored to her.
“Okay, can we not argue anymore?” She whined. Before he could say anything in response, she quickly rushed and spoke again.
“How about we meet up again, it’s been so long since we have been together.” She suggested to him. The line was silent for all of ten seconds before Damon responded.
“No.”
“What? Did you even think about it?” She pressed, feeling annoyed.
“I don’t need to. I’m at work and shouldn’t even be entertaining this call. The answer is still no and I won’t change my mind.” Damon said in a firm voice.
“But-”
Before she could say anything else, he ended the call and left her hanging.
She frowned at her phone and felt like chucking it across the room. Damon frustrated her to no end and now, he had left her high and dry.
A wicked thought suddenly flashed in her mind and she got up from her sitting position on the bed. A plan had already begun to form in her mind as she rushed to her closet to find suitable clothes. Scratch that, to find clothes that would knock the socks off of anyone.
She pulled out a form fitting red dress that ended at the knees. She wanted to look sexy and not desperate and the dress did a good job on that.
She was playing a risky game as she decided to show up at the company. She wondered how he would react when he saw her but she quickly thought less about it and simply went to get ready.
She showered then got dressed with care, and of course, she put on some makeup. She took care of that as well and made sure she did it perfectly.
She gave herself a once over in the mirror as she admired herself. She didn’t linger though and left her room. She left the house shortly after and hailed a cab to the company.
The traffic on the way there was manageable and she got to the company in a decent amount of time.
She walked into the company with an air of confidence but at the back of her mind she was wondering how she would go about finding Damon.
She was glad the company wasn’t packed with people, probably because it wasn’t yet their break and most of them were in their offices. The few people she had passed gave her strange looks which reminded her that she had made a rather impulsive decision. But she didn’t regret it one bit.
She contemplated calling Damon’s number but that simply remained a thought in her head. She didn’t want to end up standing there for hours while she waited for him to pick up.
She was still thinking about what to do when the elevator close to where she was standing opened. Damon stepped out of it and Kim thought the universe was on her side.
She marched up to him and when Damon noticed her, his face twisted into a deep frown. He looked pissed, Kim could tell but she chose to blissfully ignore it.
“Damon,” she breathed out suddenly, feeling out of breath. She watched as his eyes trailed down her body before they came back and settled on her eyes.
“Have you gone mad or something?” He spat.
