He should have expected this. Jaxon knew that the past week had been hectic for Ruby and their continuous rolling in the bed must have made her more exhausted than usual.
He decided to do something nice for her indoors today. He woke up earlier than usual and made her favorite pancakes and freshly made orange juice.
He served the food on a tray and made his way to the room. He slowly opened the door and smiled as he saw Ruby curled up on his pillow.
Her face was pressed to the soft pillows as she slept.
Jaxon placed the tray on the carpeted floor and sat beside her.
He smiled as he slowly moved her hair out of her face. He caressed her cheek as he admired how peaceful she looked.
He felt bad that he had to wake her up but he had the whole day planned out for them to relax and bask in each other’s presence.
He started placing soft kisses on her face and Ruby smiled in her sleep.
She felt feather-like touches on her face, she turned away from the tickling feeling and Jaxon smiled as he watched her adorable reactions.
“Wake up Gem.” He whispered in her ears and kissed her neck. She shivered as he kissed the spot behind her ear.
Ruby groaned and slowly opened her eyes.
“Rise and shine Gem.” Jaxon whispered and pecked her lips.
Ruby pouted as he pulled away and Jaxon smirked in return.
“You can get all the kisses you want right after you have your breakfast and freshen up.” He helped her sit up and placed a lingering kiss on her forehead.
He picked up the tray and placed it on her lap. Ruby’s eyes sparkled as she opened the plate of freshly made pancakes and her mouth watered at the sweet scent of vanilla and banana.
“Thank you Jaxon” She said softly and started eating. She moaned at the sweet taste and smiled at Jaxon.
She cut a piece of the glazed pancake and brought it to Jaxon’s lips. He smiled and opened his mouth.
“I’ve already eaten Gem. Eat slowly while I run you a bath okay?” Ruby nodded.
Jaxon stood up and went to the bathroom. He turned on the tap and watched the bathtub fill up with water.
He started rummaging through the cabinets and found Ruby’s favorite rose scented bath bomb. He picked one and threw it in the bathtub.
It melted in the warm water and he smiled as he watched the beautiful bubbles forming.
“Jaxon, your phone is ringing.” Ruby yelled from the room.
He walked out of the bathroom and picked up the phone from the bedside drawer. Grandpa was flashing on the screen.
He smiled as he pressed the receiver button and brought the phone to his ear. “Grandfather, how are you?” Jaxon smiled.
“I’m fine my boy. How are you?” Keith replied sweetly.
“I’m good, how’s Nana?” He asked.
“She is fine.” Keith replied.
“She must be cooking her favorite.” Jaxon said and Keith laughed.
“You know your Nana so well. How is my beautiful daughter-in-law?” Keith asked fondly and Jaxon almost rolled his eyes.
“She is fine.” Jaxon replied.
“I hope you’re aware that my birthday is coming up.” Jaxon knew that this particular question was coming up.
“Even if I lost my memory I won’t be able to forget your birthday Gran.” Jaxon jokingly replied and Keith laughed.
“Good cause I want you along with my beautiful daughter-in-law to be present at my party.” Keith said seriously and Jaxon groaned.
It’s not that he didn’t want to celebrate his Grandfather’s birthday, he wanted to more than anyone but he hated the idea of socializing.
His grandfather always threw a huge party on his birthdays and he hated meeting up with countless people who kept trying to pull him into meaningless conversation or sweet-talking him into a partnership.
He hated the fake smiles and laughter that came with socializing at such gatherings.
“Grandfather, you know how I feel about such gatherings, I’d rather have a small family celebration than a party,” Jaxon said and gave him a questioning look as she drank her juice.
“This is my first birthday after your marriage, Jaxon. You have to attend it. I won’t take no from you.” Keith said flatly.
“Gran, I have a deal I need to finalize here as well…”
“You can cancel it or send a representative. Now enough with the excuses, I want to speak to your wife.” Jaxon felt like whining like a child.
He passed the phone to Ruby and mouthed Grandpa to her. Ruby nodded and collected the phone with a smile.
“Keith, how are you?” Ruby asked with a huge smile on her smile.
“My darling daughter, I’m good and you? How is your honeymoon going?” Ruby felt her cheeks heat up and she felt like dropping the phone.
“I’m okay Keith. How is Nana? I miss her.”
“She is fine. Did your husband inform you that my birthday is coming up?” Keith asked.
“No, he didn’t.” Ruby replied.
“You must come,” Keith said.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Ruby sweetly replied and Keith smiled.
“Good. Enjoy the rest of your day.” Keith said and ended the call.
Ruby dropped the phone and turned to look at Jaxon.
“When were you planning to tell me?” Ruby glared at him and Jaxon smiled as he picked her off the bed.
Ruby wrapped her legs tightly around his waist and grabbed his shoulders with her arms.
“Later.” Jaxon simply replied as he opened the bathroom door. He gently placed her on her feet and started undressing her.
Ruby looked down shyly as he lowered her shorts and Jaxon smirked at her red face. He would never get tired of seeing her flustered face anytime he undressed her.
He found it funny how she always felt shy even though he had already explored every nook and cranny of her body.
He led her to the bath and watched as she entered into the tub.
Ruby sighed in satisfaction as she soaked in the warm water. She felt her whole body relax and she smiled up at Jaxon. She had become so accustomed to him bathing her.
“What are you doing outside? Join me.” She invited in a sweet and seductive voice.
