Kim had been liking the arrangement between herself and Damon. She felt it was just a matter of time before she got what she wanted. He was a great lover and a nice conversationalist so it wasn’t like she was only after the money. Even though that was the deciding factor.
She was looking for a man who had loads of cash in the bank. It was nice to be good in bed and have nice talks with people, but that only went so far. Those things didn’t pay bills or get her the latest edition of the Chanel bag, she thought.
She just had a couple of steps to go before she got what she wanted. Then, Ruby would not be the only one who had everything she wanted. Sometimes she got angry when thinking about Ruby because she knew if she was in Ruby’s place she would definitely shop till she dropped and live lavishly. She was sure that if she was in Ruby’s place and there was a competition for the best shopper, she would win it one hundred times over.
She glanced at the clock, realized she was running late then started to hurry herself along. She would be meeting Damon today so she wanted to look her best, just as always. She put the finishing touches to her hair and makeup, then she smoothened the front of her dress. She turned around, admiring the view of herself, and smiled. Damon wouldn’t know what hit him.
She left her bedroom and met Ophelia who was lying casually on the couch. She was watching a show, Real Housewives or something but Kim didn’t care to know.
Ophelia’s eyes snapped from the TV to her and that’s where her eyes stayed for the next couple of moments.
Yes! That was the kind of magnetic effect Kim was going for. A smile tugged at her lips as she twirled around, giving Ophelia the full view of the dress.
“So, what do you think?” Kim muttered, feeling very proud of her outfit.
“You look incredible as always,” Ophelia complimented. She noticed Ophelia had wanted to end her sentence but her eyes scrunched up like she wanted to ask a question.
“Where are you always going to, dressing so nicely anyway?” Ophelia asked. Kim sighed, she knew that Ophelia had only gotten more suspicious the more she had frequent outings like this. And with each one, she was finding it harder to come up with a lie.
“Oh you know, just meeting up with some friends and all.” She said, She tried to play it off and hoped her facade wouldn’t crack as Ophelia was staring at her too strongly.
“So at least once every week, you and your “friends” meet so you guys can eat together and meet cute guys?” Ophelia asked. It was quite obvious to Kim that Ophelia was still every bit as suspicious as before she had talked.
“Yep. It may sound bizarre but it has become a tradition of ours between me and my friends.” Kim lied smoothly. She wasn’t going to own up that she had been seeing someone, let alone Damon this whole time.
“… Okay.” Ophelia said hesitantly. She knew Ophelia still wanted to ask her questions but she shrugged it off and told her that she could ask her any other day.
“Alright then, I gotta run because I’m late.” She told Ophelia. She was already running late and didn’t want Damon to wait for her.
“Okay, good luck.” Ophelia muttered then put all her attention back on the TV show. Kim checked to see if she had all her things with her, then went to look in the mirror to see if her hair and makeup weren’t okay. She found nothing, and with a murmured goodbye, she slipped her bag up her shoulder and headed out the door.
She got into a taxi and on their way, they got stuck in traffic. Kim frowned as she stared out the window. They were going to be here for a while since the cars in front weren’t moving at all. There was no leaving a traffic jam so she couldn’t even suggest to the driver to take another route.
She would just have to wait it out and be extremely late in the process. She glanced at her phone screen and from the time written there, she knew she was definitely going to be an hour late if the traffic didn’t let up.
Kim searched through her phone then found Damon’s contact and called him. She needed to let him know that she wouldn’t get there on time. The phone rang and rang then went to voicemail and Kim frowned.
She tried again but the same thing happened. She was suddenly reminded of the first time she had tried to call him and how it had been difficult for him to just pick up. He only picked up after the third time.
She tried the charm for the third time but it wasn’t today. She sighed and then shot him a quick text message explaining she would be late.
Kim glanced outside the window again before she leaned back on her chair and waited. Thirty minutes later, she had successfully left the traffic jam and would be at the hotel in less than five minutes.
The driver pulled up just outside the hotel and as she paid, he offered his apologies for making her late to her appointment. She simply told him not to worry about it.
She strolled into the hotel looking anxious as she couldn’t get Damon on the phone. She had called and texted but she hadn’t heard anything back. She decided to check out the bar he frequented most and when she laid eyes on him, she saw red.
She walked up to the table where he was sitting with another woman. So this was why he wasn’t answering his phone! What a jerk!
“Damon,” she said and his eyes found hers. He didn’t even look guilty, she thought angrily. How dare he flirt with another woman when they were together.
“I’m sorry, who are you?” The woman asked. She looked at her and her heart dipped at just how pretty the woman was. She felt insecure and that in turn fed her anger against her.
“I’m with Damon so I’m the one who’s supposed to be asking that.” She spat.
“Kim!”
A shocked expression flashed on the woman’s face and she got up and left awkwardly.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Damon hissed, anger written all over his eyes.
