Ruby felt giddy as she twirled in front of the changing room mirror. She looked amazing in the beautiful strapless black dress she wore, it looked simple and hugged her figure in all the right places.
She opened the curtain and walked out in confident strides. She stood about two feet apart from the sales assistant who was holding two extra clothes for her and the lady’s stunned expression was all the confirmation she needed.
She flipped her curly hair and smiled at the sales assistant.
“How do I look?” Ruby asked and slowly tailed so the lady could see the dress in all its glory.
“You look amazing! I guarantee that when your husband sees you in this he won’t be able to take his eyes and hands off you.” The lady replied excitedly and Ruby laughed as she thought about Jaxon complimenting her.
“I’ll take it and the other two, I don’t have to try them on.” The sales assistant nooses and Ruby walked back into the stall to change back into her black cargo pants and white cropped top.
The sales assistant walked behind her as they left the changing room. Ruby got to the counter and she had to stifle her laugh as she saw how uncomfortable Ruslan and Lucas looked as they sat by the counter waiting for her.
Their huge figure looked out of place in the store that was filled with beautiful female wears and ladies trooping in to shop.
A group of three friends that looked to be in their late teens walked up to them and from what Ruby could see they were trying to engage the men in a conversation and Ruslan looked like he would knock them out at any moment.
Before that can happen she immediately paid for her clothes with the black card that Jaxon forced her to carry this morning when she told him she needed to visit the mall.
Lucas, who saw her walking towards them rushed to her and collected the bag she was holding. Ruslan excused himself from the group of three ladies who looked sad and annoyed as he joined Ruby and Lucas.
“Where to next ma’am?” Lucas politely asked Ruby as they walked away from the women’s shop. The mall wasn’t as crowded and Ruby groaned at that thought.
Anyone who paid attention could see her being accompanied by two huge men and she doesn’t like the feeling. She felt like a child who was put under strict surveillance because they misbehaved.
“How many times do I have to tell you to just address me by my name? Is it so hard?” She groaned.
Ruslan and Lucas exchanged a look and they both signaled to the other to reply to her.
” Sorry ma’am but we can’t do that, it’s the boss’s orders” Ruslan replied and Ruby rolled her eyes at that.
They were passing by the Louis Vuitton store when a pair of shoes caught her eye. She didn’t know why but she imagined Jaxon in the shoes and she felt excited as she nearly skipped to the shop with the guards in tow.
“Welcome to our store ma’am, would you like me to accompany you?” A young man dressed in a blue shirt, black slacks, and sneakers said with a polite smile.
She thought about just getting the shoes but looking around the store won’t be all that bad. She figured she might come across other things that would catch her eye.
“Sure but I’d love to look at men’s shoes first, I saw a pair from outside and I must say I fell in love with it.” Ruby said with sparkling eyes. She was so bored at home, it was so tiring being in that house all day, so shopping was the next time killer she could think of.
The guy smiled and picked up a basket by the counter that was directly facing the door. They passed row after row of shirts, pants and amazing bags.
They came to the shoes side and she pointed at the pair she saw earlier, the guy brought them down and passed them to her.
“This is so beautiful and I love how amazing it feels.” Ruby gushed.
“What do you guys think? Would Jaxon like it?” She asked the guards and they both nodded.
She looked at the size and her smile widened as it was Jaxon’s exact size. She placed the shoes in the basket and looked around the various shelves decorated with shoes but none caught her eyes again. She turned to her guards and saw them glancing at the shoes.
“Ruslan you can both get something for yourselves, it’s on me” She smiled sweetly.
“Thanks for the offer ma’am but we will have to reject it…” Lucas said.
She felt slightly offended but remembered that they were just doing their job and shook it off. They kept walking and she felt her breath hitch when they reached the perfumes section.
Different amazing scents engulfed her and she felt like she had walked into paradise.
These were all perfumes that she had read and watched celebrities and influencers talk about online and she was finally able to see them and is even capable of purchasing them.
She immediately picked up Poison by Dior and she felt like she had just found her signature perfume. She squealed and added it to the basket.
She smelt other perfumes and another caught her attention, it was Sauvage by Dior. She knew that she had to get it for Jaxon, she just had to smell this on him!
“Okay… I’m done” Ruby proudly announced with a huge smile on her face.
They all went to the counter and after hearing the bill she felt she might faint. It was freaking expensive!
She paid with Jaxon’s card and Ruslan collected the shopping bag.
With Lucas leading the way and Ruslan walking behind her they made their way out of the shopping mall into the parking lot.
They made it to the black SUV and Ruslan went to put all the shopping bags in the booth while Lucas had opened the door for Ruby, just as she was about to enter the car a shot was fired.
The bullet pierced the car’s window and Lucas quickly pushed Ruby in the car and brought out his gun.
“Whatever happens, stay down. Do not raise your head. He said seriously and Ruby nodded as tears filled her eyes.
Ruslan immediately closed the booth and rushed towards the driver’s side. A group of three men came out of their hiding place and started shooting at them.
Ruslan and Lucas started firing at the men and Ruby used her palms to cup her ears, her whole body shook in fear as tears streamed down her face.
“Lucas! Cover me” Ruslan yelled and Lucas started shooting at the men.
The bullet hit one of them on the shoulders and he shouted in pain as he fell from the force of the bullet.
Ruslan used that opportunity to enter the driver’s seat and started the car. He quickly reversed the car and the men fired at them angrily.
Lucas felt a sudden pain in his arms and looked down only to see blood soaking his shirt.
“Fuck! I’ve been hit” he groaned in pain and clutched his arm as Ruslan sped out of the parking lot.
Ruslan dialed Jaxon’s number and connected it to the car.
“What is it?” Jaxon coldly asked.
“Boss we were attacked.” Ruslan panted.
