Chapter 47
Kimberly looked so surprised to see Jaxon as she just stared at him.
Not that he was familiar, but because he was so good looking and she still couldn’t pinpoint how ruby met him.
It was Ruby, her sister!! How was she able to get such a handsome man like him?
“Kim, meet Jaxon. My husband and Jaxon this is Kimberly..” Ruby introduced the both of them with a smile on her face.
The look on Jaxon’s face did not sit well with her at all.
She knew that look, he was angry and uncomfortable.
“Hi, Jaxon. Nice to meet you” Kimberly looked flustered as she stretched out her hand for a handshake.
But Jaxon never moved to accept the handshake, he hated physical contact, especially when it was just anybody. There was no way he was going to take her hand.
Everywhere became awkward as Ruby grinned sheepishly, walking over to meet Jaxon she tugged her shoulders.
“Please just accept it.” She begged in a low voice, as she wrapped her hand around his arm, moving him closer to Kimberly.
“Hi, Kim..” Jaxon’s voice came out low and composed as he shook hands with her briefly.
“Hi,” Kimberly smiled widely at him.
He looked rich, judging from the fact that he smelled so nice.
“Ask after her health, be nice..” Ruby muttered to him but Jaxon slowly shook his head.
“Why should I?” He asked.
“Because she was sick and just recovered. That’s what normal humans would do..” she whispered to Jaxon as he shrugged his shoulders.
“When you brought me here, you never told me that you’d be laying out orders for me” he frowned as Ruby sighed deeply.
“It’s just that…”
“Enough with the chit chat you both!!” Ophelia giggled and she interrupted Ruby.
“You both can talk when you get home later. However you like” She winked at them as Jaxon scoffed inwardly, but Ruby heard him.
“I don’t like her” he muttered, his eyes fixed on Ophelia.
“You don’t have to” Ruby’s voice was low.
“How’s your health, Kate?” He suddenly asked as Ruby glared at him.
Kimberly and Ophelia stared at him in confusion.
“It’s Kim, Kimberly” Kim corrected with a sheepish smile on her face.
“And I’m fine, thanks for asking”
Jaxon only nodded as he checked the time on his wristwatch.
Ruby walked over to Kim as they all began to talk about the old times. Jaxon just watched in annoyance as their bickering and laughter filled the room.
He should never have agreed to come.
“I’m really sorry, Kim, but I think we need to leave now. Jaxon actually has a lot of work to do at the office” Ruby finally spoke out, noticing Jaxon’s uneasiness. She didn’t want him to get really pissed.
“Really?” Kim mumbled. She really hated the fact that they were leaving. Jaxon especially.
“Don’t you know that he owns a company? A CEO ” Ophelia chimed in grinning from ear to ear as Ruby glared at her.
“Oh, I see” Kim muttered. Her sister really got lucky then.
“See you both soon. I hope you visit some other time” She flashed a smile at Jaxon who seemed less interested. He just wanted to leave.
“You too sis. Just let me know if you need anything. To buy or anything. I’ll get it for you. Take care of yourself okay” Ruby muttered as she hugged her sister tight.
“You too” Kimberly smiled at her.
“Take care ophy. Bye” Ruby waved at Ophelia, she was really grateful for her friend’s help.
“Let’s go” she muttered to Jaxon who nodded at her slowly as he placed his hands into his pocket. Bringing out a card.
“Here” He handed a card over to Kim
“What’s that?” Ruby muttered with furrowed brows, her eyes fixed on him.
He was so strange and acted like a bipolar patient, one minute he wanted to leave, and the other minute, he was offering his card to Kimberly.
“What’s it for?” Kim muttered with flushed cheeks.
“Use it to get whatever you need for the time being” he informed as Ruby’s eyes flew open as she glared at him in surprise.
“You really don’t have to…” she began but Kimberly had already collected the card from him.
“I really appreciate this Jaxon” Kim uttered in surprise. He was giving her his card willingly for her to get something. Then how much was he spending on Ruby?
Speaking of Ruby, her sister was fucking holding a Chanel classic flap bag.
” I’ll send someone over this weekend to fetch it, so enjoy it while it lasts” he flashed a grin at Kimberly who felt butterflies in her stomach. She was having sinful thoughts over her sister’s husband and that was so wrong.
As for the card, she literally had a lot of shopping to do.
“Jaxon you know..” Ruby was about to protest but Jaxon snaked his hand around her waist as he spoke.
“We’re leaving now” he announced, leaving the room with Ruby.
“You really didn’t have to do that!” Ruby rolled her eyes, the moment they got into the car.
“I was being a good brother in-law” Jaxon smirked at her.
“I didn’t ask you to” she fumed in anger.
“Really?” He raised a brow at her
“Not in that aspect. I only said to say hi. There was no need to give her your card. Stop showing off” she scoffed.
“It’s just one of my spare cards and I’ll show off. I’m rich after all .” Jaxon pointed out as he started the car.
Ruby didn’t say anything to him afterward, her eyes focused on the road as he drove.
“Where are we going?” She asked turning to face him as she noticed that he was not driving towards the direction of his house.
“The office” Jaxon replied, eyes on the road.
“But I thought you were taking the day off”
“Something came up. I’m grabbing a few files, then we’ll come home” He explained as Ruby shook her head slowly, before leaning on the car, watching him as he drove.
“I know I’m irresistible, but please take your eyes off me” he smirked, his eyes still on the road.
“As if! Irresistible my foot” Ruby scoffed, turning over to face the other side of the car.
He was definitely irresistible and she wanted to eat him up.
Oh Ruby, mind your thoughts.. she muttered in her eyes as she shut her eyes, not opening them till she heard Jaxon announce that they had arrived.
They went straight to his office to grab the files he wanted.
Ruby stood in the middle of his office as she watched him go through his cabinet.
“Are you done?” She asked as he placed done files on the table.
“Yes,” he replied.
“But you really took my time Ruby..” he grumbled taking a look at his wristwatch.
“And I’m sorry” Ruby apologized flashing a smile at him.
“Apology not accepted” His lips curled up as he took a step towards her.
That’s none of my business. Ruby wanted to snap at him, but she held back her tongue as he approached her.
“Now we’re at it. Why don’t you make up for wasting my time?”
“I don’t under.. stand..” Ruby stammered taking a step backwards, each time he moved closed to get
She kept moving, till her back hit the table, stopping her from moving.
“You’ll get to understand soon enough ” he said the look in his eyes scaring her, he was obviously up to no good and she was right. He stopped in front of her, his hands circling her waist, as he crashed his lips on hers, taking her by surprise.
