Chapter 46
Ruby still had that flustered look on her face as she hastily got dressed. What was she even thinking!!! She should never have agreed to touch herself in the bathroom and why did Jaxon just barge into her room? He could have at least knocked, not walked up to the bathroom to call her.
As she walked out of her room, she prayed silently that he didn’t hear her moan or anything. She felt very shy to appear before him. Why was she even shy? It was her body to begin with.
“Oh fuck” Ruby cursed loudly. It was so embarrassing for her.
She arrived downstairs to see Jaxon drinking tea.
“Where last did you put the key?” She questioned going straight to the point as she just wanted to find the key and end up back upstairs.
“No need. Found them” he replied in a calm voice as the corner of his lips curled out.
“Are you kidding me!!?” Ruby exclaimed in horror. He found them!!! And look at how he was saying it so casually, like it was no big deal.
“No, I found them already” he replied, picking up the key from the table as he dangled it in front of her.
“Then you should have checked well for it before interrupting me!!” She gritted her teeth in anger but she immediately regretted her words, that was a slip of the tongue.
“Interrupt you?” He lifted a questioning gaze at her acc Ruby swallowed deep.
“From bathing. I was showering” she stammered.
“But you look like you’re done, besides you were spending ages in there” he muttered the last words. His voice was so low that Ruby didn’t hear him quite clearly, though she knew he said something.
“What did you say?”
“Nothing” he shrugged his shoulders finishing his cup of tea.
“I guess you’re going out?” Jaxon nodded meaningfully as Ruby shook her head. He had seen the clothes she arranged in her bed earlier, so he guessed she was leaving, not that he was going to allow her to leave.
“And where are you going to?” He asked in a calm voice.
“The hospital..” Ruby replied as he fixed his eyes on her.
“My sister is getting discharged today” she quickly added, clearing his thoughts.
“You know what?” Ruby began before Jaxon could say anything.
“I think you should come with me” she invited him with a cheerful smile on her face and Jaxon frowned.
Kim called her earlier to bring her husband when coming and Ruby actually promised to do so.
“Hell no, fucker” Jaxon smirked at her as he returned his eyes to his phone, Doing GOD KNOWS WHAT!
And why did he call her fucker?? He had never called her that before.
“Please Jaxon..” she began as she took a step towards him. She just had to convince him one way or the other. She had promised Kim and she was looking forward to seeing the man she married.
“No Ruby and I don’t want to hear that again! You should be grateful I’m allowing you to go” he pointed out as he looked away from her. Making sure to avoid eye contact, looking at her, and getting lost in those beautiful eyes of hers only made his mind more fucked up. He needed to calm down and think. Not getting distracted.
They had still not spoken about that kiss, Ruby had said nothing about it and he was not planning to break the silence. It was all, ACT LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED! But that was Hard!
“I apologize if I’m bothering you. But I actually promised Kimberly that I’ll bring you. She’s so eager to see you..” Ruby explained, hoping he’d just agree.
“Then it’s simple! Tell her I’m busy” he instructed, keeping a straight face.
“I can’t do that” Ruby mumbled.
“Then suit yourself” Jaxon scoffed as he rolled his eyes. He decided to take the day off as he came to the conclusion that he needed a good rest, but it seemed Ruby would not give him the piece of mind that he was craving.
Not when she kept bugging him.
“Just please” Ruby continued pleading. She was not the kind to give up and she was not going to stop begging him, till he agreed to come along.
“Kim and Ophy think I’m happily married. It will feel somehow if I appear without my husband”
“What exactly don’t you understand Ruby?” Jack suddenly asked as he was forced to look at her in the eye.
“You” Ruby’s voice was low.
“I don’t understand how you operate and…just forget it” she sighed sadly
“I wanted my sister and friend to think
That I’m happy in my marriage though I’m not. It’s not even going to take more than an hour, so just come. Please” I begged him but all my pleas fell on deft ears as he said nothing.
“You should leave now or I won’t allow you to leave later” he announced, his eyes no longer on hers as he went back to his phone,
“Jesus Christ Jaxon!!” Ruby exclaimed in frustration.
“Can you ple…” she moved to reach him but he immediately pulled his hand away.
“I’m not spending more than an hour” he announced as he rose to his feet.
“Does that mean!” Ruby squealed as her face broke into a wide smile.
“Your time is already ticking” Those were the only words he said as he began to walk towards the door.
“Okay, sir!” Ruby said playfully as she giggled before running upstairs to get her purse. Jaxon found himself smiling as he watched her, he flicked his finger on his forehead as he frowned.
Almost thirty minutes later, they both arrived at the hospital. Ruby noticed the way the female head turned, the moment they saw Jaxon. She suddenly began to feel jealous but said nothing. He was good-looking looking after all.
They soon arrived at Kim’s room. Ophelia was already in there with her.
“Kim I’m here!” Ruby exclaimed as she ran to get the sister who was sitting on the bed, with Jaxon stroding behind her with a stern look on his face while he kept asking himself why he agreed to follow Ruby.
“How are you?” Ruby wrapped her hands around her sister, who did not hug her back as her eyes were transfixed on Jaxon.
There was no way Ruby was married to that man!
