Chapter Eight
Ruby didn’t utter a word while she was inside the car with Jaxon, even as the driver drove off.
She could tell that he was really pissed but how was any of it her fault.
Just when she thought that he was not going to scold her, his voice thundered in the car.
“What was that shit that you displayed???” He asked, his eyes blazing with anger as she glared at Ruby.
“I’m sorry..” she apologized in a low voice.
“Sorry for your damn self!” He snapped at her.
“Now tell me why you pulled that stunt, have you gone mad??” He questioned.
“What was I supposed to do? Your rules clearly state that no one should know about our marriage and that lady was my best friend. How was I going to explain myself to her?” Ruby pointed out defending herself but Jaxon was not taking any of that.
“Is that the reason you disgraced me? You were sitting on the ground in front of a lot of people. My wife” He scoffed in sarcasm.
“She was so intent on talking to me, she also called me a thief, I feel because I was trying to avoid her” Ruby explained.
“I see you’re very dumb. Now I’m beginning to regret why I married you in the first place!!” Jacom confessed as he stared at her with nothing but disgust in his eyes.
Ruby just bit her lips hard, he paid her for whatever she was doing. He still called the shots here. She wanted to give him a befitting reply, but she decided to keep mute, so she wouldn’t annoy him.
Jaxon acted like a madman and she didn’t want a situation where he would call off the contract and demand for his money.
“Weren’t you supposed to know that your damn best friend was attending the party??”
“How was I supposed to know? It’s not as if we both live together. Accidents happen ”
“Oh this was not an accident ” Jaxon shook his head.
“All of this happened as a result of your stupidity. If only you had stayed in place, what were you going to find in the bathroom?? Didn’t I tell you to stick with me??” Jaxon asked raising a brow at her.
He only allowed her to go to the bathroom because June was with them if they were together, he could have declined her request.
“So I can’t visit the bathroom because of you?” Ruby asked in disbelief.
“No no, you can’t,” Jaxon replied.
“Unbelievable” Ruby smacked her lips as her jaw worked.
“Don’t you get the part where I said you’re to do whatever I say???” He still looked very angry and it did not seem like he was going to calm down any minute.
Ruby also was getting tired of his tantrums and wanted to give him a reply.
“I said I’m sorry” she apologized hoping he’d just stop talking.
“Keep your apology to your pathetic self!” That was it. His last words angered Ruby so much, she was trying to be reasonable but he just kept acting like a child.
“What part of I’m sorry don’t you understand!!” She suddenly fired at him and Jaxon’s eyes widened in surprise.
“It’s not as if I made a mistake, but you keep on opening that gutter mouth of yours to insult me”
“It’s not as if you gave me the money for free. I’m working on it. We are both business partners here and I suggest you treat me like one. I would no longer tolerate your rudeness..” she pointed out angrily pointing her index finger at him.
Jaxon blinked repeatedly, utterly stunned by Ruby’s words. No one had ever spoken to him like that, not in this world or the next.
How dare her?? He resolved within himself to teach her a very good lesson, next time she would not dare herself to talk back at him.
“Stop the car!!!” He growled in anger as the car screeched, stopping in an instant.
“Get out!!” He ordered and Ruby was about to open the car door when he spoke.
“Not you!!” He suddenly grabbed her wrist, ruby was still in shock when the driver stepped out of the car.
“What are you doing?” Ruby asked, alarmed.
They were in the middle of nowhere and it was dark. Jaxon just asked his driver out of the car, she hoped it wasn’t what she was thinking.
Was he going to have his way with her???
“What are you doing?” She asked.
“Let go” she requested as Jaxon let go of her arm.
“What the hell” she muttered, rubbing her aching wrist as he held her so tight.
“Now listen and listen very well,” Jaxon began, as he grabbed a fistful of her hair and he pressed the side of her face in the car window.
“What are you doing?” Ruby stammered in shock as she struggled with him, but he held her so tight, pinning her down.
“If you want to survive for this 100 days, Ruby, know that I call the shots here and you can never ever talk back to me. Don’t you ever!!!” He growled as Ruby shivered, when did Jaxon suddenly turn into a beast?
Her scalp was hurting her as he gripped her hair so tight.
“I paid you a lot and I own you and can do whatever I want with you. I can even kill you and dump your body in a river” he snarled as Ruby whimpered in fear.
“So if you ever talk rudely to me, I’ll cut off your tongue and show you who the boss here is” he concluded, as he removed her hand from her hair, holding her by her chin next, which he tilted to face him.
“Got that?” He asked, but Ruby did not reply as she looked away from him.
“Did you get that!!!” His voice thundered as Ruby nodded.
“Good” he released her like she was trash as he moved away from her. Then he brought out a handkerchief from his pocket which he used to clean his hands.
“Now get out of my car. My business with you is done for today” he said calmly as Ruby looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears.
It was dark and he was going to dump her in the middle of nowhere.
“I don’t repeat my words,” he said in the same calm composure, not bothering to look at all.
Ruby shakily opened the car as she ran out of it.
His driver soon got into the car after she came out as they drove off. Leaving her there, on a quiet and deserted road.
