The email’s subject line read: “I’m sorry, I’ve tried my best to atone.”
In it, she explained why she had suddenly changed her mind.
After leaving the party that day, she first went to the restroom.
Seeing so many former friends reminded her of me, and she cried painfully in front of the mirror.
She regretted all the heart-wrenching things she had said and done to hurt me.
In the end, she realized that the person she truly loved was already me, not Ashton.
Half an hour later, when she collapsed to the ground in a daze, she heard Ashton’s voice from the next room.
“That girl has no idea why she suddenly seems like a different person and isn’t falling for it anymore!”
“Isn’t that your idea? Telling me to pretend to have amnesia was effective at first, but now she doesn’t care.”
“If I don’t get better, how am I supposed to see her? I saw her today, and she doesn’t want to be with me anymore; what am I going to do now?”
Jade’s mind buzzed as she realized Ashton had been pretending to be sick to deceive her!
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely find a way to get her back. If we don’t get married, how can I get her massive inheritance?”
Ashton chuckled wickedly.
Jade felt a surge of hatred that almost made her claw her palm raw.
The plan for revenge spread in her heart.
When she emerged an hour later, her eyes were red, clearly having cried for a long time.
Back in her room, she cleaned herself up and called Ashton.
“There were too many people today, and I just escaped from the wedding. I didn’t want to agree to you in front of everyone.”
“Ashton, I’m really happy for you.”
Upon hearing this, Ashton asked excitedly if that meant she was agreeing to be with him.
Jade replied softly, “I didn’t leave. I booked a room upstairs waiting for you; come over now.”
Ashton, thrilled, rushed over.
Jade used the prepared alcohol to get him drunk.
The next day, she pretended to be shy, lying in Ashton’s arms, making him feel responsible.
Ashton was overjoyed and immediately said he would marry her.
Jade felt relieved.
The night before the wedding, she came to find me again but was refused a meeting.
Later on, she discovered that Ashton wanted not only to exploit her but also to design her death.
She turned the tables on him and killed Ashton in revenge.
At the end of her email, she wrote:
“I know I will be caught sooner or later, and I never intended to survive. The harm I’ve caused you and my mother is irreparable. Corey, please allow me to call you my husband one last time.”
“Wishing you everlasting happiness.”
After reading it, I sighed deeply.
“If I had known it would come to this, why did I even bother back then?”
Before her execution, Jade requested to see me one last time, saying she was about to die and hoped I would come.
I refused.
At the time, my mother was also dying and had asked her to come for one last meeting, but she wouldn’t.
I was simply returning her actions back to her.
Jade didn’t wait for her execution; she committed suicide by biting her tongue in prison.
I heard that before she died, she bit her finger and wrote “I’m sorry” on the ground.
I smiled.
Jade, I told you I wouldn’t forgive you, never.
All of this is your own doing.
