I sat happily next to Whitney and Leomord.
A few days had easily gone by and they were filled with joy and fun.
Every day I had a clean dress to wear and we ate well. My hair was fixed by Whitney while Leomord gave me Candy once I had behaved well.
I stopped going to the hut and chose to be with them. I even slept in a tent with Whitney, while Leomord slept outside to guard us.
“Put those shoes on.” Leomord instructed softly with a smile.
“Okay.” I answered happily then picked them up and stood up.
“Leo, a word.” Whitney said and went behind the tent.
“Give us a minute.” He whispered to me then followed her as I frowned.
Since yesterday Whitney had been acting strange.
Most times she would tell me her epic war stories and at times she would teach me how to take good care of myself, but yesterday she was quietly looking at me with a very sad expression on her face.
Whenever I asked her if something was wrong, she laughed and brushed me off easily.
Whatever she was thinking about wasn’t good, I was sure about it.
I moved my free hand and raised a finger as a glow of light shone from the tip.
I then closed my eyes and relaxed my body as I felt the vibration around me, the loud wind blowing and the birds chirping.
“Hush.” I whispered as everything died down, the only thing I could hear was Whitney’s and Leomord’s voice.
“I mean it.” She said in a cracked voice and slightly labored breath.
“Do we have to?” Leomord asked in a low tone.
“We have to Leo, we can’t stay in this place for long. Have you forgotten that I have to fulfill the Alpha queen’s orders?. I can’t be wasting time. I love how we are like a family, the three of us, but I just can’t disobey the Alpha queen.” She answered softly.
“But Amelia will understand, even Ian.” He said in a concerned tone.
“I know, but we can’t just be staying here like this. If Lexi has a heart of helping us then she will come with us. If she refuses to go with us, then we won’t force her. She has a right to decide for herself. And to be honest, I am concerned about her well-being, sadly my mind is already made up.” She answered.
“Fine, then we will talk to her.” He said strongly.
I opened my eyes as the glow of light vanished.
I felt powerless as the shoes fell from my hand.
Were they planning to leave me?.
No, they said they would ask me to go with them. What was I supposed to do?. I wanted to be with them at the same time I didn’t want to leave home. No matter how bad and shabby the hut was and this area, it was still my place and home.
I immediately forced a smile on my face when they approached me.
“Lexi.” She called softly then linked her hand to his.
“Yes.” I answered.
“We don’t want to lie to you over anything, that’s why I have been open with you over a few things. Like I said a few days ago, I am a Werewolf and so is Leo. We not only live in packs and territories but we have leaders that we serve. Leo and I are second in command, so that means our obligations lie to those leaders we serve. I was given orders to go back to my territory and overlook everything before my leader’s return while Leo was to search for a powerful witch who could break a certain curse.” She said as I felt my heart ache.
“We won’t beat around the bush Lexi, we need your help.” He said softly as I swallowed hard then pointed a finger at him.
“So that’s why you were kind to me.” I whispered.
“No, we weren’t kind to you for that reason. Okay maybe at the beginning, but we later changed and just loved having you in our company.” She answered.
I dropped my hand and glared at them angrily.
“I trusted you!” I screamed loudly.
“We know okay. You should be happy that we are even asking you in a good manner. If we were so bad and evil we would have dragged you or found a way to capture you but we didn’t!. We liked you and thought of keeping you close. Even now we aren’t forcing you to come with us are we?. We are asking you if you want to come with us or not, you might as well just say no?” She yelled loudly, startling me.
“Tey, that’s enough.” He whispered softly then wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
She sighed then brushed her fingers through her hair.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell at you Lexi. It’s just that I got annoyed at how little you think of us. I’ll say this for the last time. We are not bad guys and us wanting you to come with us is not a forcing matter. You can stay here if you want to and we promise to respect that.” She said softly.
I slowly sat on the ground thinking her words through.
She truly wasn’t a bad person, that I knew. And so far they had treated me well with respect. What I had no idea about was how their people would treat me if I was to go with them.
“Let us know once you decide.” Leomord said then turned to walk away with her.
“I’ll go.” I answered.
They quickly turned back and looked at me.
“You will?” She asked loudly.
“Yes. I am going with you guys.” I answered then stood up.
“I have no one here with me and you guys leaving would only make me feel so lonely. I will go back to eating bad food and wearing rags. Also more men would come here to hunt me down for my power. I won’t lie, I don’t really like the thought of living in another place or territory, but I also hate the idea of never seeing the two of you again.” I answered honestly.
She quickly moved and hugged me tightly as I froze not knowing what to do.
“I promise you Lexi, we will protect you and feed you lots of delicious food.” She said as I chuckled softly.
“Well you better keep your words.” I whispered then looked at Leomord who nodded at me as I smiled back.
I guess it wasn’t going to be bad, after all I was still going to be by their side.
