Chase’s p. o. v
“Are you certain that the Alpha king is still in his territory?” Alpha Ian asked seriously.
I let go of Amelia’s hand and nodded.
“I am very certain Alpha Ian. I have never been wrong when it comes to tracking someone’s whereabouts.” I answered honestly.
He sighed in relief then sat down in his chair with a wide smile.
“That’s great news.” He whispered softly.
“What the fuck Ian, It’s not great news. It means we should still keep our guard up and work quickly. Don’t you find it odd that the bastard is still in his territory when he is obsessed with having an Alpha queen by his side?” Felix asked seriously.
She really had a point, I too was wondering about that.
“It is, that’s why I still have my guard up, what I meant by relief was that it puts my mate at ease and gives me more time to address my pack with what’s going on.” He answered.
“Fine.” She answered then sat upright in her seat.
“Are you spending the night here?” Alpha Ian asked calmly.
“No, we are going back home.” She answered lazily then stood up.
“You know you are more than welcome here.” Amelia said softly.
Felix smiled then moved closer and stood in front of her.
“Thank you Amelia but I can’t be at ease spending the night here, not only would I be surrounded by dogs that hate me, I would hate coming across one.” She answered as Alpha Ian growled in warning.
“Forget being nice, get the fuck out of my pack.” He spat angrily.
Felix looked at him then laughed softly and turned to face me.
“Chase let’s get the fuck out of this shitty place.” She said then walked to the door and stopped when she touched the door handle.
“You will inform me immediately if you find unoccupied territory.” She said then walked out of the office.
I stood up and gave a slight bow out of respect.
“It was nice meeting you again Amelia. And it was nice officially meeting you, Alpha Ian. Please keep in touch and don’t hesitate to inform us on whatever important things that take place.” I said.
“Sure Chase and thank you so much for coming along and sharing your brilliant plan and idea.” He answered.
I smiled then walked out of the room and went to the pack entrance where Felix was standing leaning against the door frame. When she saw me she stood upright.
“You are late.” She spat.
“Sorry.” I apologized.
“Your apology does not work for me.” She said then walked ahead as I followed.
A lot of the pack members were still growling at us while some were whispering to each other. I knew Felix was strong, but the thought of them making her uncomfortable made me upset. I quickly picked up my pace and walked beside her.
I took in a deep breath, released it, and linked my hand to hers.
She stopped moving and looked at our linked hands.
“What are you doing?” She asked in a whisper.
“Holding your hand.” I answered.
“That I can see, but why hold my hand?” She asked.
I ignored her question and began to walk with her ahead.
“You are a weirdo at times.” She said as I felt my heart ache.
Her words still got to me despite me knowing how cold and sarcastic she was at times.
“I guess I am, I’m sorry.” I answered then let go of her hand.
She quickly grabbed my hand, surprising me.
I looked at her, feeling confused as to why she was still holding my hand when it was clear that she was uncomfortable and didn’t want to.
“I feel tired, that’s all.” She said without looking at me.
I smiled happily then continued to walk.
When we reached the car, I opened the door to the driver’s seat for her and waited for her to get in.
“No, you drive.” She said.
“What?” I asked on top of my voice.
Everyone who knew Felix knew how much she loved her cars. She always preferred to drive them than someone else. The only time she let someone drive her car was when there was a very serious or important situation.
“You heard me, I want to rest so you drive.” She said then pulled out the key from her jeans trouser pocket and handed it to me.
“Wait here.” I said then quickly let go of her hand and went to open the other side of the door.
“Please do get in.” I said happily.
She walked around and got in without any complaint.
I closed the door and went around and got into the car as well.
I frowned when I felt her hand pressed on top of mine. She was acting differently and somehow unlike herself.
I didn’t want to ask her why because that would only make her go back to her cold attitude.
I linked my hand with hers and started driving the car with my other hand.
“You can close your eyes and sleep, I will wake you up once we reach home.” I said softly then drove away.
She closed her eyes and sighed softly.
“Take me somewhere nice.” She said under her breath, making me step on the brakes.
“What?” I asked loudly.
“You did well at Ian’s pack, you acted as my partner should. You were wise and your words were convincing. To be honest I was impressed with your plan and …..”
I moved without a second thought and kissed her lips lightly then pulled back.
She opened her eyes and looked at me stunned.
She really was acting cute, I couldn’t just hold back and let her just sleep.
“What are you…”
I kissed her forehead then looked her in the eyes.
“I’m just appreciating you at the same time loving you in my own way.” I answered softly with a smile.
Her expression softened as she smiled back and moved her hand pressing it against my cheek.
“You are kinda weird today.” She muttered softly.
“So are you.” I answered honestly.
“I guess.” She whispered then kissed my lips gently as I responded and deepened the kiss.
