Chapter 17

Book:Romantic revenge woman Published:2024-10-15

Hollie Owen was sent to the hospital. Unfortunately, the adhesive’s stickiness had blocked her airways. Before the surgery even began, Hollie Owen died on the operating table.
Meanwhile, at the police station, Simon Smith sat there with a pale face. “You are suspected of two counts of intentional homicide. Do you have anything to say?”
Under the bright lights, he trembled, his lips quivering. “No.” He wanted to explain, but what could he say? He couldn’t bring himself to speak.
Yes, he was the one who had bound me and locked the trunk out of fear that I would escape. Even without Hollie Owen, I would have died. They were all the same.
Simon Smith knew why Hollie Owen approached him. She merely wanted to provoke me. At that time, James Porter had just returned. Simon Smith was unhappy, so he allowed Hollie Owen to get close.
He didn’t even know how it had come to this. He only wanted to punish me, but now he had killed me with his own hands and destroyed everything I cherished.
Simon Smith buried his face in his hands, weeping uncontrollably. He regretted it.
Simon Smith was brought to trial. The two homicide charges along with corporate crime were enough to condemn him to a lifetime in prison.
On his first day in jail, he was beaten by a crowd. The guards spat in his food. The once proud young master Smith was now utterly destitute and embarrassed.
I knew this was James Porter’s doing. He was taking revenge for me. If Simon Smith had been his old self, he would have fought back, but he said nothing and silently endured it.
In less than half a month, he became a shell of his former self, looking neither human nor ghost. When James Porter saw him again, he could barely recognize him.
“Please, let me see her just once.” Simon Smith knelt before him, stripped of all dignity, pleading with James Porter to take him to my funeral.
James Porter snorted coldly, “Do you think you deserve it? Simon Smith, even if you died a thousand times, Laura would never forgive you.”
That was true. I thought Simon Smith would give up, but unexpectedly, he bribed a guard and escaped. Barefoot and in prison clothes, his feet were covered in blood.
Half an hour later, he actually found the entrance to the cemetery. However, while crossing the street, he was struck hard by a car.
Even though I hated him, I couldn’t bear to see such a bloody scene. He fell into a pool of blood, his eyes fixed on the gates of the cemetery.
“Laura…” Blood gushed from his mouth. The sound of sirens from the ambulances drowned out his voice.
“I’m sorry…”
Simon Smith didn’t die, but he was left in a vegetative state. He was placed in the hospital’s basement, never to see the light of day again. This was the punishment he deserved.
This was for the best. A heartless person must carry all the resentment and live with it. I wanted him to remember forever how he betrayed me. I wanted him to remember forever how he had killed me with his own hands.
