Lorenzo’s POV
I was up early the next morning. I had packed my bag and I was careful to make sure that my
phone was switched off. I didn’t want any of my employees calling me and asking me for any
information lest I disclosed to them that I was leaving the pack and put them at greater risk.
I had scheduled my flight early for about 8:00 a. m.
It was 6:00 in the morning and I decided to make an early trip to the airport.
Ever since my phone call, I had avoided the use of my car and I was beginning to doubt if there
was actually a bomb inside it. In fact, I was beginning to doubt if anyone was after me at all. I had
only heard that strange voice once and it was the day that Mark was killed.
It was possible for me to totally refute the idea of being hunted down but the death of my
manager made sure that my head was clear and my senses were on high alert.
I was able to catch an early bus to the airport and I set my bag down beside me.
The number of people on the bus was few and I could count about ten people. They were sitting
quietly with their heads buried in their phones.
Next to me, there was a man with dark shades. And he seemed to stare into space.
“Hello? Is anyone beside me?”
I then realized that he was blind as he tapped the space between the both of us.
“Good morning.”
I greeted him politely and he was startled.
“Oh, I didn’t see you there. Forgive me. I am blind. I just wanted to ask if you knew what time it
was.”
I looked at my watch and saw that it was thirty minutes past 6:00.
I told him the time and he thanked me profusely.
“Sorry to bother you once more, but could you also tell me when the bus stops at Western
Avenue? Today is my daughter’s birthday and I intend to spend the whole day with her.”
I agreed to help him and he thanked me again.
We sat in silence and every few minutes, I was checking my watch and looking around to make
sure that we stopped at Western Avenue.”
As the bus moved, I couldn’t help but think about the book that Alpha Roland asked me to give
Erica.
The whole of last night, I was fighting the urge to rip off the silk and read what was inside but I
decided that since I was going to see Erica, there was no need to let my curiosity get the better of
me.
Soon the bus came to a stop and I knew that we were at Western Avenue.
“Sir, we are at your stop.”
He thanked me and as he was about to get up and leave, he tripped over my suitcase that was in
the way.
He face-planted to the floor on top of my suitcase and I helped pick him up and dusted him off.
“Thank you, sir. I guess I didn’t ‘see’ it.
I gave a light chuckle but I suddenly felt guilty. I probably shouldn’t have laughed.
He carefully used the stick in his hand and walked away.
The bus doors closed and I was allowed to continue on my journey.
One by one, passengers got down and I soon was the last person in there, heading to the airport.
It didn’t take long before I got there.
I looked at my watch. It was 7:00 am. I was an hour early.
I dashed inside and hurriedly got my bags checked.
Since I was a vital member of the pack, I didn’t need to pass security and I was hurriedly shown to
the waiting area for people who had booked first class.
I sat there quietly with my thoughts and time flew by like a swallow.
“Those with first-class tickets to Great Wolf Airlines, please move to the terminal now.”
I stood up briskly and walked to the terminal for my airplane. I dropped my bag on the conveyor
belt and walked to the plane.
I showed the hostess my ticket and I walked to my window seat that was near the front of the
plane.
It didn’t take long for everyone to get settled down and soon the plane took off. It was going to
be a short two-hour flight from here to Blue Hades Park. There wasn’t much that I could do so I
decided to close my eyes and take a nap. I had barely slept the night before.
************************************************
“Ladies and gentlemen please fasten your seatbelts as we are coming in for a landing. Make sure
that your overhead luggage has been removed from the compartments and prepare for landing.”
The sound of the captain’s voice over the radio startled me and I woke up.
It began its descent and touched down at the airport.
We were guided to the terminal and we all waited for our luggage to pass through the security
scanner on the conveyor belts.
I felt like I was waiting for an eternity and every other passenger had already carried their
suitcase. Finally, mine came to the conveyor belts but just before I could walk towards it to grab
it, security swarmed the place and grabbed my bag.
I rushed towards the security officers.
“What is going on?! What are you doing?!”
“Back off, Sir! Officer Three, search the bag. We saw it in there!”
I knew better than to obstruct the officers doing a bag search but why would they be searching
my bag? I wasn’t carrying anything illegal
“Are you the owner of this bag?” He asked rudely and roughly.
“Yes.”
In an instant, I was swarmed by three officers and they all grabbed me at once.
“Cuff him! Hold him down!”
I struggled the best I could but they forced me to the floor and pinned me there. They shackled
my wrist with handcuffs and pulled me up.
“What is going on? I demand want to see a lawyer.”
They ignored my questions and the officer in charge glared at me.
“What do you have in that bag?”
“Nothing. Just my clothes and a book.”
I felt a hot slap across my cheek and I snarled in anger.
“Liar! Tell the truth. What do you have in your bag?!”
I was boiling with fury. I had nothing but my clothes and the book inside the bag.
Did Alpha Roland lie to me? Was the book illegal and wanted?
“Since you don’t want to talk, let me jog your memory a bit,” barked the officer rudely.
“There is an active bomb in your bag.”
My eyes opened wide and I stared at my suitcase in shock.
“A bomb?!”
What was a bomb doing in my bag?
The officers dragged me up and roughly pushed me across the room to a holding cell.
“Lock him up until he is ready to talk and call the bomb squad immediately. The bomb is going to
go off in thirty minutes. We don’t have much time…”
