Layan knows

Book:Alpha's hostage Published:2024-10-15

Priscilla’s chest was pounding. Layan knew about Liam. So much so that she had hidden it and he had simply found out, but from whom.
Litus, he was the only one who knew. She had told him after making sure he wore one of the manacles made by her hair and the omegas blood stones. That was one of the reasons she thought it was Antoin and his brother. Of the two he had as suspects they were the only ones not carrying the manacles which prevented Liam from entering their consciousness.
But now he really didn’t know who the real culprit was. Antoin was dead, and the person he had seen before he collapsed was an adult. And he couldn’t remember his scent, it was like he was hiding.
But now Layan.
-Are you okay, doesn’t your head hurt, is that you?- she transformed so fast it hurt and grabbed the wolf’s head in her hands. She checked his eyes, his facial expressions, she smelled him, but….
-I’m fine puppy- he chuckled in his mind and ran his tongue along her cheek- It’s me, your Layan- -I’m fine puppy-.
He was telling her that, but she wasn’t very convinced. Not because of the part about her Layan, that had been nice, but because of the other thing. She felt that something wasn’t right, but not right at all, but she didn’t know if it was her or the wolf.
Priscilla frowned and with her foot pushed Layan away putting distance between them, though she could barely lift him off her body. Still, she growled at him.
-You’re lying– her eyes turned molten silver.
Layan stared at her and slowly transformed, revealing a faint smile. The blue of her eyes was clear and calm.
-Why would I lie to you,- he stroked her foot and calf with his fingertips.
-I don’t know, but you do. I don’t know, but you do. I can feel it.
The bond, the bond between them, at what point had it gotten so strong that she was able to feel his. Usually it was the other way around.
Layan sighed and grabbed her leg pulling her away and dropped back down on top of her. Now in their human bodies he reached between her thighs and let their bare skins brush warmly against each other.
-You’re too smart for me Priscilla,- he smiled and kissed her frown. Maybe this is the reason you didn’t want to tell me about Liam. Because ever since I found out my head’s been pounding. Like something wants to get in. Too bad I’m pretty strong.
His smile didn’t reassure her at all. Rather she began to tremble. She knew this scenario was coming. If Layan gave in her body would be controlled.
-That’s why you weren’t supposed to know,- her gaze was cold, -You weren’t supposed to know, I knew this would happen.
This time it was Layan who frowned.
-But you told Litus. He knew first, but I didn’t then. He raised his voice with every word. He hadn’t wanted to mention it, but one of the reasons he was really upset was because Priscilla hadn’t told him first, despite the consequences.
-I had to tell you so that I would release my emotions- she said- With my emotions my powers become stronger and if I told you this is what would happen- she growled, but deep inside her words panic was blooming.
-I am your mate Priscilla, I am your wolf, you are supposed to trust me, we could have found some alternative together– she said.
By now he had risen and sat down in front of her shaking his head. He was getting annoyed and she knew the bottom line was jealousy. Mostly jealousy. But it wasn’t just that, her head hurt and she felt like every time she let her guard down something wanted to sneak inside her mind and she wouldn’t let it.
Priscilla straightened up and was aware that she could have told him from the first moment, but….
-Liam is behind you,- she blurted out and that’s when Layan blinked at her.
-He’s behind me?
She nodded. Telling him all that when she had kept it hidden was strange, but now that he knew everything, it was no use to keep hiding it. Now she had to find a way, because she was also feeling how his defenses were alert and how something wanted to force inside him as well as force their bond. She was thankful she had taken that pill that had temporarily neutralized her heat.
-Liam wants to take over your body since you are the strongest alpha, and thus suppress the power of the other alphas and achieve his goal of commanding over the others. From the beginning he wanted us to link up so that through me he could enter your mind since he apparently can’t in the normal way. Even now that you know them, you can’t help it if I want to shape his mind.
Layan listened carefully to her words and analyzed the situation as best he could.
-And how did he survive,- he tilted his head, -He was supposed to have died that day?
Prisila denied.
-I helped my mother eliminate him at the last moment.
Layan raised an eyebrow.
-You were just a dot when that happened, Pris, how could you have helped… Oh…?
This time it was she who raised her eyebrow.
-You forget that I was born under the influence of the blood of all the alphas. I was in the fight against Liam, I witnessed it and I also fought in it because it was really hard for my ma to deal with Liam alone- she still remembered those moments despite being as Layan said, a point inside her- We thought we had defeated him, but apparently his powers were stronger than we thought and somehow his conscience managed to escape-
-And when did he show up,- the alpha pressed his temple. Talking about Liam kind of reinforced his headache. He could see why she’d kept quiet about everything. It must have been hard on his pup.
-I knew it when I was frozen.
-He talked to you when you were, you know… there? -Yeah, he was the one who talked to you.
-Yes, he was the one who talked to me, constantly, even as my emotions were dying. The reason I woke up early was his fault. I felt he was coming to your pack. He wanted to do harm here.
-I see,- now things were falling into place.
-I know you would have liked me to tell you from the beginning, we could have even prevented all the deaths that happened, but….
-No, I understand you- Layan approached her and cradled her cheek, running his thumb over the delicate skin- You did well, if you had told me I imagine I would have gone crazy and the consequences would have been worse. We wouldn’t have known what we were dealing with either, now would we?
He was looking for the positive in the situation. And he had concluded that Priscilla was right.
-Now you have your emotions free, and you know a way to deal with it. I’m sure that time I almost lost you they were trying to eliminate it.
She nodded.
-He’s stronger than we can imagine.
Layan remained thoughtful. The situation was more complicated than he imagined.
-The handles we gave each other.
-It’s a protection against him accessing the minds of those who possess them, they are made of my hair and the stones are the blood of the ancient dead omegas, my mother gave them to me as a gift.
Layan was impressed by this fact. She had done it to protect them. From the beginning she was fighting alone.
Layan became thoughtful again, he was shaping the puzzle.
-Do you know where Liam is currently, he must have some container, someone to reside in so his conscience doesn’t die?
She denied.
-I thought he was in Antoin or his brother, but one is dead and the other, his mind is that of a puppy, completely blank, as if he were a puppet, they are not the containers, besides Antoin now…- Priscilla’s body tensed.
Layan didn’t notice and moved his hand to the back of her neck and brushed it with his fingers.
-Don’t worry, he’s not dead.
She opened her eyes.
-He’s not dead?
-He’s in very bad shape, but the relevant thing is that his wounds were not made by someone else.- She didn’t understand and Layan continued with his explanation. Victore confirmed it. He is an expert in wounds. If everything you say is true, Liam is most likely controlling them and doing that to diversify our attention. Damn, this is crazy.
-Your sister’s event was also because of him. Leila doesn’t like me very much and apparently it was easy for him to get into her mind and control her to attack me. That’s why when we fought I could only defend myself. She is your sister after all.
Layan listened to her. Priscilla could seem like a cold, heartless, proud, overbearing person, but deep down she thought more about other people than herself.
She wanted to thank him for thinking of everyone’s safety but hers. She had already noticed how much she had hurt herself. So he grabbed her hand and pulled her to him, sitting her on his lap and hugged her.
-I’m sorry you had to go through all this alone. All the time. And I was only making it harder for you by refusing to come, to go out. I’m sorry-
Priscilla heard him apologize like that and her chest tightened.
-It’s not your fault. I didn’t tell you anything, it wasn’t like you could have guessed.
Layan hugged her tighter against him and left a kiss on the side of her neck, reveling in her scent, smell?
That’s when he fell. He was so focused on the events that he had missed a small detail. He sat up and looked her straight in the eyes.
-Priscilla, where is your zeal?
