The Healin’ Journey: NYSSA
Life went back to normal. But this time, a more peaceful one I hadn’t had in a while until now. Stella worked for Kazmir as his secretary and it was time for me to resume my classes with Ariadne who got the news of my readiness a few days ago.
It was the day when she would finally show up and I waited, all ready for the moment. I had taken my bath and waited in the livin’ room, sippin’ from a glass of juice while I looked at the screen of my phone from time to time.
Soon, my phone beeped.
She was here.
With joy in my heart, I jumped on my feet and picked up the phone before pickin’ up the call.
“Hello, Ariadne,” for confirmation purposes, I asked. “Are you here already?” Walkin’ to the door, the house bell rang and the woman confirmed from her end before I headed out of the house, the smile on my face not leavin’ for one moment.
“Hi,” openin’ the gate, she walked into the compound. “Welcome back, Mrs. Ariadne. It’s been ages even though it hasn’t.” We hugged briefly and she fixed her gaze on me, shakin’ her head for moments before startin’ her walk to the entrance of the apartment.
“How’s everythin’ with you?”
Settlin’ on one of the couches, the one she always sits in whene’er she visits, the woman nodded. “Can I get a glass of water before I am finished with questions?” I rushed to do as asked and when settled on another couch, I watched her sip. Placin’ the glass on the table I placed next to her, she let out. “I have been very well. It’s all over the news what you and Stella did to brin’ down a man who happens to be a criminal. I am so proud of you in case you don’t know.”
“Thank you, Ariadne. I am sorry for not reachin’ out all this while. A lot has been goin’ on with me – more than you would ever think. But I am glad you’re here and now that this is real, it’s time for us to take it up from where we stopped. If you’ve forgotten, I’ll do nothin’ but make you recall.”
“I recall,” she chuckled. “And I am here to assist you in the littlest way that I can. You know you can always trust me, Mrs. Draven,” sippin’ from the glass, she let out these words to me who was more than ready for the moment – our first and next session after a while of stayin’ away from each other.
“Yes.”
Placin’ the glass again, she let out. “It’s more than stayin’ back in this house,” she looked at me and gave a nod. “No matter how you try to recall who you are, you’ll ne’er do it perfectly if you don’t move around, Mrs. Draven.” She explained as she examined my facial countenance. “Also, I’ll need you to trust me on this in case you’re scared. Fear is one thing that’ll hinder me from goin’ ’bout my business.”
Trust?
Did she just ask me to trust her?
Didn’t I trust her in the first place? I adjusted on the chair, smilin’. “You of all people should know I trust you so much – almost with my life,” I was still smilin’ and in the midst of this, watched her smile as well. “I am ready to go any length at all with you ’cause I trust you and also am ready to regain my memories. I know I made you understand how ready I am to do anythin’ at all to regain my memories completely.”
She nodded.
“This is all I needed to hear,” with a smile, she said. “I’ll let you know how it’ll go. Give me some time to brace myself.” She explained to me who nodded, givin’ her some time and standin’ on my feet. My legs led me to the kitchen where I dished a tray of food, mixin’ it with a glass of juice, and walked out of the space, wonderin’ also if the woman was ready to tell me ’bout it.
“How ’bout a meal, Ariadne?” I placed the tray on the table and called out. “We can continue with the talkin’ when you’re done with your meal. I’m sure you need all the strength you can get before tellin’ me ’bout it.” I added to the woman who was on her feet and leadin’ her way to the table, takin’ a seat on the chair, and startin’ to eat. “I’ll leave you to be done.”
“No,” shakin’ her head in disapproval, she called me back. “Take a seat, Nyssa. We can talk ’bout this while I’m at it. I want to talk to you now and this is the right time for this conversation.” Explainin’, I was takin’ my seat on the chair opposite her.
“Have you been havin’ dreams since the last time? Just as expected of you. But when you have them, do you see things in them?” She asked me who gave a nod, although the only issue I had at that moment was not recallin’ what and what I had seen in the dreams.
“That’s progress,” she mouthed. “But we’ll need to move on from that phase right now, although you have no control over your dreams.”
What was she tryin’ to say?
I gave her a moment to eat her meal, after which she looked up to say.
“This is nice, Nyssa. You get better in the kitchen field every day and I am very happy to see that. Proud of you, young woman.”
She dropped her spoon and got more serious.
“Enough of that. This is the point where I let you know ’bout what I want us to do. It’s ’bout goin’ out, like I said. I have someone I want you to meet. She’ll love to meet you, too.”
I looked up from the table.
“What – who is she?”
“I can’t let out the name of the woman until you get to meet each other in reality,” in explanation, she let out. “We should be there tomorrow, in the afternoon also. What do you say? Will you be chanced?”
“Yes,” without even thinkin’ twice, I let out. “I’ll talk to my husband ’bout it when he is back from work. He has no choice but to let me go. You should know on your end that I am willin’ to go and if he doesn’t approve of it, we’ll have to run away, so give me your house address in advance.”
She laughed, almost chokin’. “We can’t do that, you know,” sippin’ water from the glass, she cried. “Talk to your husband and I’m sure he’ll let you go unless he doesn’t love you anymore. Then reach out to me and I’ll be here as soon as I can.”
Just then, the door opened. I looked up and Kazmir was walkin’ out into the large space. “My wife,” he smiled, placin’ his bag on the couch closest to ‘im. “How are you today? I can see that you have a guest.” He looked her way and smiled, unlike the usual grimace on her countenance. “Hello, Mrs. Ariadne.”
“Hi, Mr. Draven.”
She greeted ‘im. “It’s nice to see you again. I was just tellin’ your wife ’bout an outin’ we should go on. I wonder what you think ’bout it, or have to say, too.” Diggin’ into her meal once more, she said and I heaved a sigh, lookin’ at the man who was still smilin’.
“Of course,” he grabbed his briefcase again and walked to the stairs. “I just hope she is safe with you, and there’ll be no issues at all ’cause I’m comin’ for you and your family if anythin’ happens to my wife. I love her so much that I dont want to lose her.”
