Lilith’s POV
Looking at the scene before me, my heart skipped a million times in a second.
Only if one had a death wish would he confront Ted in this furious state he was, considering the terribly vicious things he had done in the past days.
But this man… he seemed so confident in himself, like he could defeat Ted. The fact that his face was concealed added a layer of mystery to his personality.
A terrible wind suddenly began to blow, and fog started to seep in. The eyes of the men and their leader remained as though what was happening was a normal thing.
Soon, nothing was in sight as the fog had covered it all. The trees, the men, even Ted. All I saw was myself, in my own closed space.
There was no stopping him now.
“You have the ability to control him, remember?” Lexi reminded me with a question.
“But how? I don’t know what to do.” I was confused and tired of the whole thing, if only we could just disappear and find ourselves home.
This wasn’t like the other times when I just let it out and he obeyed. I really didn’t know how to control him.
“Be calm, Lilith,” a sweet intoxicating voice swam into my ears. I recognized it as the goddess’s own, so I didn’t panic.
There was no use turning to see her because of the fog. So I just listened. “There is a storm raging inside him, and you need to make him calm.”
“But how? Who are these people to begin with?” I asked her.
“Who they are doesn’t matter, see this as a test to develop your strengths. To make him calm, you need to be calm yourself.”
“But I am calm.”
“No, you are not, search within yourself, and tell me if you are.”
I reflected on her words and closed my eyes. There were numerous voices screaming for attention in my head and I tried to listen to one at a time.
Frustrated, I opened my eyes, letting out a groan.
“I can’t… My head is a mess.”
“I know your head is in a messed up state right now. But if you don’t do this, there’s no telling what could happen to you or Adams here.”
Ted soon let out a loud growl and I felt the floor vibrate under me as the pounding of feet filled the air.
“You need to do it now, Lilith…”
I shut my eyes again and dived into my thoughts, but it seemed as though more distracting things had entered into them.
“… Now!” She screamed, and I picked a sound, just his own.
My heart beat reduced and everything moved in slow motion. The other voices in my head faded away and all I heard was his.
It felt like I had connected with him, in a way I never had been before. I could tap into his mind, and hear his thoughts.
Unlike mine, a battle raged in his, between him and his beast.
“Adams,” I whispered his name.
Whispering his name in his mind was like giving him control, and Ted had to obey.
There was an abrupt stop, a loud screech, followed by an even louder bang which brought me back to reality.
My eyes flew open, searching through the gradually decreasing fog. The wind which blew violently also ceased, and a soothing calm descended around me.
“Well done,” the goddess’s voice said in finality before going silent.
On the floor, was Adams, a few meters from the men, whose jaws had dropped in amazement.
Their leader’s eyes fell on me, making my insides cringe. He scanned me, like goods on display at an auction center, trying to figure out what I’m worth.
“Who are you?” He asked in a deep rasping voice.
At first, I was scared, but Lexi fueled me with energy and I felt my body and mind strengthened. “I am Lilith, daughter to the former Beta of Green Forest Pack, Luna Queen of the Black Hound Pack, bearer of the gift of the priestess.”
I felt a wave of power flow through me as I said those words. Adding the extra details was unnecessary, but I must admit… it felt good.
“Of course, I know who you are, I just find it difficult to comprehend what you are made of,” he replied.
I smiled… a triumphant one, my gaze lingering on him. However, it didn’t last long before Adams stood before me.
“Let’s go home, Lilith,” he whispered, his voice as silent as the sound of the wind taking a stroll.
He had dust all over his body and he was naked. My jaw dropped seeing him this way and I turned around in embarrassment.
The men behind us began to laugh, and my face became red.
“Come on, don’t tell me you have never seen your husband naked,” their leader spoke, his deep voice sounding funny. I was certain he was making fun of me.
In order not to seem like an inexperienced person, I turned around and focused on Adams’ face.
At that moment, it became the most difficult task, as I couldn’t help but notice his well-sculpted body and relaxed, curved member in-between his legs.
I felt my face heat up, which caused the men behind us to laugh uncontrollably.
If only they behaved this way when I was still a warrior in Green Forest pack, their heads would roll on the floor.
“Let’s go,” Adams spoke again, not in the least bothered about the men behind him.
“B… but you are naked,” I stammered, staring into his eyes.
“Should we remain here all night because I am naked? I’ll get something to wear at home. Let’s go.”
“Here, pretty boy,” the man spoke, and we turned back at once to see a pair of red shorts flying towards us.
Adams caught it quickly and stared at the man suspiciously.
“Would you put it on or keep staring at me, pretty boy?”
Adams’ eyes narrowed. He looked at him as if contemplating what to do. He put on the shorts eventually and stretched his hand behind me, leading me out.
A part of me was skeptical, as I didn’t trust the men behind us. What was their agenda? Why did they let us go so easily?
“I do not trust those people, Adams,” I whispered.
“They are not to be trusted, getting out of here is what matters.”
We walked in silence, casting occasional glances at them.
They stood still, their eyes fixated on us, till we got to where our horse was. It was a little bit injured, but I healed it, and we were on our way home.
On getting back to the mansion, there was a deafening silence, which hung around the mansion in the weirdest of ways.
“I have been searching for you guys…” Ronan said the moment he sighted us.
He scanned our outfit with his eyes and frowned. “… Why are you dressed this way? What’s with the dust all over your body?”
“You shouldn’t worry about that. Why were you searching for us?” Adams replied, charging the subject.
“It’s Ben.”
“What happened to Ben?” Adams demanded.
“H… he left,” Ronan replied, rubbing the back of his head.
“What do you mean by saying he left?”
“His room is empty and there is no sign of him anywhere in the mansion.”
Adams sighed and held my hands. His touch was cold, and it sent shivers all around my body. He nodded to Ronan, and we continued moving to our room.
We stopped, however, when Ronan’s voice broke through. “He left a note, written with blood.”
Alarmed, we turned. Ronan handed the note to Adams and I caught a glimpse of it’s content. “I’ll be back for you Adams, sooner than you think.”
