Now, that was some huge commitment he was suggesting to make. I find it hard to believe but that would be a worthy exchange to accept his offer but on my terms. It meant that I could get rid of sparrow sooner than I thought and have some peace in my life knowing that he wasn’t after it.
“Now, we’re getting somewhere.” I said loving it all too much. My coming here after all would not be in vain. “But it’s on my terms.” I tell him and he seems scared again.
“What will that be?”
“I won’t give you my contact.” He looks confused but I continue. “I can be your supplier and you’ll receive it in its pure form with a higher price.”
He blinks but I can tell he sees it as a good deal but then I wasn’t done.
“I can do with that.”
“I’m not finished.” I said and his eyes narrow curiously. “The deal lasts until you get back on your feet.” I said knowing that if this deal should last for longer, Cole would be tempted to betray me and seek my contact behind my back. I was trying to protect our trust and to avoid making him a future enemy.
“That’s a fair deal.” He answers and I smiled in satisfaction.
“Would you like to see Sparrow now?” I nod in agreement and Cole takes me into another room. There is a large screen on display there and it was fucking real. There he was, that fucking bastard, in his room and unaware that he was being watched.
“You’re a wonder Cole.” I say in shock. “… But how?” I asked knowing it was impossible to do that except he had spies in the supposed house.
I did get suspicious again. Another option could be that he owned the place and was the northern Don helping him out but then things didn’t add up with that option.
“Manuel Castillo.” He blurts a name and it rings a bell. He was one of the well know drug lords in the north. “That’s the man protecting Sparrow.”
I’m curious as to why he would risk war with us over here just to protect that bastard. Was he that greedy?
“Interesting.” I mutter.
“It appears that Sparrow has failed to convince him that all is well. He knows there’s a looming war that would affect him. Not just from you but the Columbians who Sparrow had deceived and sold stolen goods to. You know the columbians, they wouldn’t forgive such betrayal. He is both suspicious and scared.”
I begin to connect the dots realizing what happened.
“So he came to you and gave you access to his entire house.
Cole smiles feeling proud. “Yes.” He answered.
“Why you and not me?”
“He was probably scared you’d kill him first before listening to him.”
“Why would I do that if he’d help me get my goods back?”
“He heard what you did to sparrow’s men.”
“I simply killed them like they deserved.”
“See, that’s it. You’re so casual about it. He thinks you’re ruthless and wouldn’t spare him.”
“We are all ruthless as mafia men but believe me, I’m kind now.” I said knowing how Thea had softened me because my past self would have unleashed hell before now.
“He wants part of the deal” Cole says suddenly and I scoff feeling pissed off. This wasn’t about Manual being just scared. He was going to betray sparrow by going were he thought would favour him.
“You made a deal with him to secure a spot for an agreement you didn’t know I would accept?” I asked really pissed off at Cole. His confidence was inspiring. Such audacity….
“No, no Angelo. “He doesn’t want the contact, he wants to be your distributor whenever you get your goods from your special source.” He explained immediately.
“How do I trust someone like him?” He is betraying a man he is supposedly protecting.”
“You don’t need to trust him Angel. You just need him to sell your goods. It’s business, no harm will be done. You’ll just be letting him live which has no benefits to you.”
I remain silent. I already knew what my decision was.
“What do you think?” Cole asked but I hesitate.
“Deal.” I finally say and could see how relieved Cole was.
“You should give me your word.”
“If you don’t trust me why ask me to come here.” I retort.
“I’m not talking about myself, I mean Manuel. You need to assure me that no harm will come to him.”
“There’s no deal with Manuel…” There can only be deals with Manuel on my terms. I’d supply him goods for two months and that’s it. He takes it or he leaves it.” I say with finality in my voice. Cole sighs but then he just had to accept because he was the one desperate for this deal.
“He should have no choice then.” He said and I force a smile.
While we were still speaking, I suddenly noticed a lady walk into the room. I squint trying to be sure of what I was seeing.
“Hold on.” I say cutting Cole off. “Who’s that?” I asked even while my eyes widened realizing who it was.
“Oh…” Cole muttered. “You could imagine my shock when I found out.” He said and I turned to look at him. He nodded affirming my suspicions then I looked back at the screen.
