If the previous words were like knives stabbing into Ulric’s heart, then this term “spare tire” was like a bullet, hitting his heart directly.
The pain made it almost impossible for Ulric to breathe. Instinctively, he reached out to clutch his chest.
His handsome face turned even paler and more powerless than before.
Malcolm had never imagined that one day he would witness a favored son of heaven being trampled into the mud.
And it was by the woman he loved the most.
Ulric could no longer face Rosalind for another second. He feared she would say even more heartless things, so he took a few steps back, stumbled, and hurriedly got into his car and left.
With a stomp on the accelerator, the car sped away like a madman!
Malcolm’s heart raced with fear. “He’s… emotionally unstable. Will he be alright driving like that?”
“I’ll have Cedric contact him,” Rosalind said. How could she not care about his safety? But some things couldn’t be achieved just because you wanted them to. Some dreams had to end when it was time to wake up.
“Sigh!” Malcolm sighed. “Although I really shouldn’t pity anyone from the Walters family, Ulric truly cares about you.”
Rosalind tilted her head back, not wanting the tears in her eyes to fall.
After a minute of silence, she finally spoke, “Thank you for helping me with my mother’s funeral.”
“It’s no trouble! Being able to be by your side at this time is something I cherish.”
Rosalind looked at him and furrowed her delicate brows.
“Malcolm, I-”
“You don’t need to say anything. I understand! You don’t need to feel so burdened. Now that your mother has passed and you and Tilda are good friends, it’s only right for me to help you. I believe that if I ever needed help, you would do the same for me without hesitation! We’re even now, so don’t feel any psychological burden.”
Malcolm was getting to know Rosalind’s character more and more.
But the more he understood, the colder his heart felt.
He realized that Rosalind’s heart was barren, with no water source and not even sunlight. How could anything grow there?
For Ulric to truly move Rosalind’s heart showed how much effort and thought he had put into it!
“After my mother’s funeral, I will go for an abortion to sever the last connection between Ulric and me, and then I’ll leave here. In the future, if you need my help, I might not be able to come immediately, but as long as you ask, I will do my best.”
She had to make things clear and straightforward, almost as if she wanted to put it in writing.
Malcolm could only nod helplessly. “Alright, shall we go then?”
“Yes.”
Rosalind nodded, her tear-filled eyes still fixed on the direction where Ulric’s car had disappeared.
Who said she had a heart of stone and wouldn’t be moved?
She had been moved.
It had caused her mother’s inexplicable death.
So should she still be moved? No more.

Ulric drove extremely fast.
He floored the accelerator as if wishing for a car accident to end everything once and for all.
Fortunately, the roads around the university were wide and there weren’t many vehicles, so nothing happened.
Cedric called for the fifth time, and finally, Ulric answered.
“Mr. Walters! Where are you? There’s something at the company that requires your attention.”
His tone was gentle yet probing, afraid of agitating his boss.
“I’m in no mood for work right now. You handle it.”
This was the first time in his career that he had ever said such a thing.
“But the situation is quite complicated. It’s better if you see it yourself! Also… I’ve found out some things about Rosalind.”
“I’ll come back now.”
